Predicting Compressive Strength of Recycled Aggregate Concrete using Analysis of Variance

A step-by-step statistical approach is proposed to obtain optimum proportioning of concrete mixtures using the data obtained through a statistically planned experimental program. The utility of the proposed approach for optimizing the design of concrete mixture is illustrated considering a typical case in which trial mixtures were considered according to a full factorial experiment design involving three factors and their three levels. A total of 27 concrete mixtures with three replicates were considered by varying the levels of key factors affecting compressive strength of concrete, namely, w/c ratio, recycled coarse /natural coarse aggregate ratio, and recycled fine/ natural fine aggregate ratio .The experimental data were utilized to carry out analysis of variance (ANOVA) and to develop a polynomial regression model for compressive strength in terms of the three design factors considered in this study. The developed statistical model was used to show how optimization of concrete mixtures can be carried out with different possible options

Technology, culture and citizenship in education for creative economy in Brazil: the case of the NAVE Project in Rio de Janeiro

The aim is to examine how the NAVE Project in Rio de Janeiro was able to develop and stimulate capacities for creative economy in its students, despite the socioeconomic and political crises Brazil and the state of Rio de Janeiro face. Based mainly in the theoretical work of Araya (2010), Venturelli (2000) and Hearn & Bridgett (2010) and following the methodological steps of Sécca& Souza (2009)with bibliographic and document research of NAVE Project in the city, we argue that the full-time activities carried out by NAVE intertwine technology, cultural activities and citizenship with the school life and encourage students to critically appropriate the main languages and techniques for creative economy. The conditions of possibility for this are, in this case, connected to the construction of partnerships between the government and the private sector, which can bring alternatives for funding activities in times of political and economic crises. However, as these partnerships face many difficulties to be constructed and maintained in many parts of the country, NAVE also develops low-cost and no-cost teaching activities which can be applied by professors in other public – and also private – schools in Brazil and develop transdisciplinarityamong the technical / scientific, cultural and business pillars of creative economy

A Survey Paper on Ontology-Based Approaches for Semantic Data Mining

Semantic Data Mining alludes to the information mining assignments that deliberately consolidate area learning, particularly formal semantics, into the procedure. Numerous exploration endeavors have validated the advantages of fusing area learning in information mining and in the meantime, the expansion of information building has enhanced the group of space learning, particularly formal semantics and Semantic Web ontology. Ontology is an explicit specification of conceptualization and a formal approach to characterize the semantics of information and data. The formal structure of ontology makes it a nature approach to encode area information for the information mining utilization. Here in Semantic information mining ontology can possibly help semantic information mining and how formal semantics in ontologies can be joined into the data mining procedure. Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is rapidly deployable, self configuring network able to communicate with each other without the aid of any centralized system. There is no need for existing infrastructure base network. In MANET Wireless medium is radio frequencies and nodes are mobile, topology can be very dynamically. Nodes must be able to relay traffic since communicating nodes might be out of range. A MANET can be a standalone network or it can be connected to external networks like internet. Multihop operation of MANET requires a routing mechanism designed for mobile nodes are internet access mechanisms, self configuring networks requires an address allocation mechanism, mechanism to detect and act on, merging of existing networks and security mechanisms. As we know that there is no any centralized system so routing is done by node itself. Due to its mobility and self routing capability nature, there are many weaknesses in its security

Process Capability Analysis in Single and Multiple Batch Manufacturing Systems

Any process, manufacturing or service in operations is subject to constant variation. The underlying principle of variation is any process / rather all processes are subject to changes occurring due to the magical 5 M’s that make the basis of operations management namely: Man, Machines, Materials, Methods and Money. This paper discusses about establishment of a capable process, by means of stabilizing the 5 M’s and studying the variations which occur by going deeply into the well known term used in operations: RCA : Root Cause Analysis
