Review of MAC Unit for Complex Numbers

    Get PDF
In Digital Communication, Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is an important block which performs several digital signal processing applications such as Convolution, Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Fourier Transform, and so on. Every digital signal processor contains MAC unit. The MAC unit performs multiplication and accumulation processes repeatedly in order to perform continuous and complex operations in digital signal processing. MAC unit also contains clock and reset in order to control its operation. Many researchers have been focusing on the design of advance MAC unit architectures for complex numbers so as to achieve minimum resource utilization and delay

Universality class of replica synchronization transition of smooth coupled map lattices in the presence of quenched disorder

Synchronization of two replicas of coupled map lattices for continuous maps is known to be in the multiplicative noise universality class. We study this transition in presence of identical quenched disorder in coupling in both replicas for coupled logistic and tent maps. We study one-dimensional, two-dimensional, and globally coupled cases. We observe a clear second-order transition with new exponents. The order parameter decays as t−δt^{-\delta} with δ=2\delta=2 for tent map and δ=3\delta=3 for logistic map in any dimension. The asymptotic order parameter grows as Δβ\Delta^{\beta} with β=2\beta=2 for the tent map and β=3\beta=3 for the logistic map. The quenched disorder in coupling is a relevant perturbation for the replica synchronization of coupled map lattices. The critical exponents are different from that of the multiplicative noise universality class. We observe that the critical exponents are independent of dimensions and super-universal in nature

A 9-Bit Flash Analog to Digital Convertor

Need constantly exists for converters with higher resolution, faster conversion speed and lower power dissipation. High-speed analog to digital converters (ADC’s) have been based on flash architecture, because all comparators sample the analog input voltage simultaneously, this ADC is thus inherently fast. Unfortunately, flash ADC requires 2N - 1 comparators to convert N bit digital code from an analog sample. This makes flash ADC’s unsuitable for high-resolution applications. This paper demonstrates a simple technique to reduce comparator requirement of 9-bit flash ADC that requires as few as 256 comparators for 9-bit conversion. In this approach, the analog input range is partitioned into 256 quantization cells, separated by 255 boundary points. A 8-bit binary code 00000000 to 11111111 is assigned to each cell. A 9-bit flash converter requires 512 comparators, while proposed technique reduces number of comparator requirements to 256 for 9-bit conversion

Is prenatal screening for Down syndrome needed in young pregnant women?

    Get PDF
Background: Down syndrome originally known as Mongoloid’s idiocy is the most common autosomal disorder. Down syndrome (DS) can be detected by prenatal diagnosis which includes the triple marker screening test and chromosomal analysis. Methods: The study population comprised of 100 pregnant females amongst the age group of 20-45 (32.10±4.86) years. Triple Marker Test was done followed by amniocentesis or CVS with karyotyping or FISH.Results: Risk of <1:250 was considered high risk whereas ≥1:250 was considered as low risk. 32/45 (71%) were false-positive for Trisomy 21 detected as high risk by TMT. But there was good sensitivity and specificity for Trisomy 18.Conclusions: It can be concluded that the triple marker test is indeed only a screening test for the DS and that it has to be confirmed with the help of chromosomal analysis. The higher maternal age is an important parameter in DS but nowadays, even ones with a lower maternal age can also have a child with DS. So, in general, now all women are recommended to go for biochemical screening during their pregnancy

Design and Simulation of Novel 11-level Inverter Scheme with Reduced Switches

This work recommends the performance of coupled inductor based novel 11-level inverter with reduced number of switches. The inverter which engender the sinusoidal output voltage by the use of split inductor with minimised total harmonic distortion (THD). The voltage stress on each controlled switching devices, capacitor balancing and switching losses can be reduced. The proposed system which gives better controlled output current and improved output voltage with moderate THD value. The switching devices of the system are controlled by using multicarrier sinusoidal pulse width modulation algorithm by comparing the carrier signals with sinusoidal signal. The simulation and experimental results of the proposed 11-level inverter system outputs are established using matlab/Simulink and dsPIC microcontroller respectively

FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF VILDAGLIPTIN SUSTAINED RELEASE MATRIX TABLETS

    Get PDF
Vildagliptin belongs to a class of orally active anti-diabetic drug which inhibits dipeptidyl peptidase-4(DPP-4) and to potentiate the secretion of insulin in the β-cells, there by decreasing blood glucose level. Vildagliptin is a short half life drug so it needs to formulate into sustained release dosage form to reduce dose frequency for patient compliance. Among various techniques, formulation of matrix tablets using matrix formers is a simple and industrially useful technique in the design of sustained release drug delivery systems. In the present study, an attempt has been made to develop sustained release matrix tablets of Vildagliptin using hydrophilic polymers like HPMC (k15M, K100M) and Carbapol by using wet granulation method. Dissolution study was done by using type-II dissolution apparatus gave good results with combination of HPMC K100 M and Carbapol. Drug release from the formulation follows zero order, first order, Higuchi's equation, and korsemeyer's equation

A study on curcuminoid profile of Curcuma longa L. varieties as affected by processing method

    Get PDF
An attempt was made to understand the variation in the curcuminoid profile of turmeric varieties. Eight cultivars namely, Local (check), IISR-Alleppey Supreme, IISR-Kedaram, IISR-Prabha, IISRPrathibha, Suvarna, Suguna and Sudharshana were utilized for the study. Curcuminoid content of fresh, dried and cured varieties after methanolic extraction and quantification through HPLC revealed that Local (check) turmeric in fresh form was significantly superior in curcuminoid content. IISR-Prabha and IISR-Prathibha in dry and cured form respectively, also exhibited high curcuminoid content. &nbsp

Entangling two Bose Einstein condensates in a double cavity system

We propose a scheme to transfer the quantum state of light fields to the collective density excitations of a Bose Einstein condensate (BEC) in a cavity. This scheme allows to entangle two BECs in a double cavity setup by transferring the quantum entanglement of two light fields produced from a nondegenerate parametric amplifier (NOPA) to the collective density excitations of the two BECs. An EPR state of the collective density excitations can be created by a judicious choice of the system parameters.Comment: 3 figure
