The study about material contained in Barringtonia seeds were conducted at the first time using the standard procedure of AOAC. For present work, two species of Barringtonia were selected viz., B. acutangula and B. racemosa . The proximate composition and mineral constituents of Barringtonia seeds were evaluated. The B. acutangula seeds contained ash 4.24%, crude protein 9.23%, crude lipids 0.68%, crude fibre13.54% and carbohydrates 66.17%. While in seeds of B. racemosa, ash 4.02%, crude protein 12.09%, crude lipids 0.75%, crude fibre15.18% and carbohydrates: 64.67% were observed. Both the species have a high energy value on dry basis. Comparing the mineral content with recommended dietary allowances (RDA), the results indicated that seeds of B. acutangula fruits could be a good supplement for some nutrients such as calcium, fibre and carbohydrates, whereas the B. racemosa seeds could be a good supplement for some nutrients such as fibre, potassium, zinc and carbohydrates. The seeds of Barringtonia could be promoted as a carbohydrate supplement. Hence, this piece of work acclaims the potential of Barringtonia species indicating its proximate and mineral composition

    Get PDF
Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is tropical fruit with high nutritional value. The aim of present work was to isolate the starch from black variety of mango and evaluate the physicochemical as well as functional properties. Starch is widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries for various applications. These industries depend on crops that are also the traditional sources of food resulting high demands with consequence economic implications. The results showed that the moisture content (14.93%) was higher while ash content (0.12%) was low. Amylose content was 35.06%. It was observed that the onset gelatinization temperature of the starch ranged from 50°C whereas, the conclusion gelatinization temperature was from 91-92.5°C. The starch show adequate properties and could be alternative source for the production of industrial products that may require starch.Â

A Phase transition in zero count probability for Stationary Gaussian Processes

We study the probability that a real stationary Gaussian process has at least ηT\eta T zeros in [0,T][0,T] (overcrowding), or at most this number (undercrowding). We show that if the spectral measure of the process is supported on ±[B,A]\pm[B,A], overcrowding probability transitions from exponential decay to Gaussian decay at η=Aπ\eta=\tfrac{A}{\pi}, while undercrowding probability undergoes the reverse transition at η=Bπ\eta=\tfrac{B}{\pi}.Comment: 17 page

Determination of gestational age: correlation between foetal biometry and transverse cerebellar diameter in women with uncomplicated pregnancy

Background: Transverse Cerebellar Diameter (TCD) serves as a reliable predictor of gestational age in foetus and is a standard against which aberrations in other foetal parameters can be compared, especially when the GA cannot be determined by the date of last menstrual period or early pregnancy scan, TCD is one foetal parameter that has remained consistently superior in predicting gestational age in both singleton and twin gestation. Aim of the study was to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of transverse cerebellar diameter by using ultrasonography for determining the gestational age of the foetus. Methods: A cross-sectional study was done in 100 uncomplicated pregnant patients between the 15th week of gestation to term referred from routine antenatal clinic in outpatient and in-patient department of Obstetrics and Gynecology department of Vinayaka Mission Krupananda Variyar medical college and hospital, Salem during study period April 2015-March 2016. TCD is obtained in the axial plane in the cerebellar view i.e. with a slight rotation of the transducer approximately 30° from the conventional thalamic plane where the biparietal diameter is measured using the cavum septi pellucidi, third ventricle and thalami as landmarks. Results: The correlation of transcerebellar diameter (TCD) with that of BPD (bi-parietal diameter) had shown a perfect positive correlation (r = 0.978) and a similar type of correlation was also seen with HC (head circumference) (r = 0.979), AC (abdominal circumference) (r = 0.966), FL (femur length) (r = 0.976) and USG GA (ultrasonogram gestational age) (r = 0.983).Conclusions: In the normally developing foetus, the TCD increases in a linear fashion with advancing gestational age. The data of this study suggest foetal TCD on ultrasound is a reliable predictive biometric parameter of gestational age

In the title compound, C14H9BrN2O, the quinazoline unit is essentially planar, with a mean deviation of 0.058 (2) Å from the least-squares plane defined by the ten constituent ring atoms. The dihedral angle between the mean plane of the quinazoline ring system and the 4-bromophenyl ring is 47.6 (1)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked by intermolecular C—H⋯N and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming infinite chains of alternating R 2 2(6) dimers and R 2 2(14) ring motifs

Internet of Things (IoT) systems tend to generate with energy and good data to process and responding. In internet of things devices, the most important challenge when sending data to the cloud the level of energy consumption. This paper introduces an energy-efficient abstraction method data collection in medical with IoT-based for the exchange. Initially, the data required for IoT devices is collected from the person. First, Adaptive Optimized Sensor-Lamella Zive Welch (AOSLZW) is a pressure sensing prior to the data transmission technique used in the process. A cloud server is used data reducing  the amount of data sent from IoT devices to the AOSLZW strategy. Finally, a deep neural network (DNN) based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) known as DNN-PSO algorithm is used for data sensed result model make decisions based as a predictive to make it. The results are studied under distinct scenarios of the presented of the performance for AOSLZW-DNN-PSO method, for that simation are studied under different sections. This current pattern of simalation results indicates that the AOSLZW-DNN-PSO method is effective under several aspects

VOLTAMMETRIC DETERMINATION OF DESLORATADINE IN PHARMACEUTICAL AND HUMAN URINE SAMPLES USING GLASSY CARBON ELECTRODE

    Get PDF
Objective: The electrochemical behaviour of Desloratadine (DLTD) in pharmaceutical and human urine samples at glassy carbon electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and square wave voltammetry (SWV). Methods: A well defined reduction peak was observed at potential -1.55V in phosphate buffer solution (PBS) in basic medium. The reduction process was observed to be irreversible over the pH range from pH 2.0 to pH 10.0. The influence of different parameters such as the effect of pH, scan rate and concentration of the drug was studied. The probable reaction mechanism involved in the reduction of DLTD was also proposed. A SWV method with good recovery and accuracy was obtained for the determination of DLTD in pharmaceutical formulations and urine samples. Results: The peak currents were found to be linearly dependent on the concentration range of 2.55x10-5to 1.5x10-3M of DLTD. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were found to be 2.75x 10-9M, 3.20x 10-7 M respectively. Conclusion: The proposed method was successfully applied for determination of DLTD in pharmaceutical and human urine samples

    Electronic structure of NiS_{1-x}Se_x

We investigate the electronic structure of the metallic NiS1x_{1-x}Sex_x system using various electron spectroscopic techniques. The band structure results do not describe the details of the spectral features in the experimental spectrum, even for this paramagnetic metallic phase. However, a parameterized many-body multi-band model is found to be successful in describing the Ni~2pp core level and valence band, within the same model. The asymmetric line shape as well as the weak intensity feature in the Ni~2pp core level spectrum has been ascribed to extrinsic loss processes in the system. The presence of satellite features in the valence band spectrum shows the existence of the lower Hubbard band, deep inside the pdpd metallic regime, consistent with the predictions of the dynamical mean field theory.Comment: To be published in Physical Review B, 18 pages and 5 figure
