Green Exercise Linking Nature, Health and Well-being

    Get PDF
The concept of Green Exercise has now been widely adopted and implies a synergistic health benefit of being active in the presence of nature. This book provides a balanced overview and synthesis text on all aspects of Green Exercise and integrates evidence from many different disciplines including physiology, ecology, psychology, sociology and the environmental sciences, and across a wide range of countries. It describes the impact of Green Exercise on human health and well-being through all stages of the lifecourse and covers a wide spectrum from cellular processes such as immune function through to facilitating human behavioural change. It demonstrates the value of Green Exercise for activity and education purposes in both schools and the workplace, as well as its therapeutic properties. Green Exercise is an effective intervention for vulnerable groups and promoting healthy ageing, with activities including wilderness therapy, therapeutic horticulture and the use of forests and water. Chapters also integrate cross-cutting key themes which are relevant to all stages of the lifecourse and have significantly contributed to the Green Exercise research base, such as forest bathing and blue exercise. The book also explores the future of Green Exercise, the way in which research can be used to influence green design and planning and how health, social care and environmental agendas can be integrated to enable Green Exercise to be more widely used as a mechanism for improving health

Model Data Fusion: developing Bayesian inversion to constrain equilibrium and mode structure

Recently, a new probabilistic "data fusion" framework based on Bayesian principles has been developed on JET and W7-AS. The Bayesian analysis framework folds in uncertainties and inter-dependencies in the diagnostic data and signal forward-models, together with prior knowledge of the state of the plasma, to yield predictions of internal magnetic structure. A feature of the framework, known as MINERVA (J. Svensson, A. Werner, Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion 50, 085022, 2008), is the inference of magnetic flux surfaces without the use of a force balance model. We discuss results from a new project to develop Bayesian inversion tools that aim to (1) distinguish between competing equilibrium theories, which capture different physics, using the MAST spherical tokamak; and (2) test the predictions of MHD theory, particularly mode structure, using the H-1 Heliac.Comment: submitted to Journal of Plasma Fusion Research 10/11/200

The trust of audited financial statement users to the public accounting profession relies on the quality audit report . Audit Quality is assessment of the process in conducting the audit tasks performed by an auditor thus generating an audit report are assessed based on factors that may effect the audit quality. The reduced audit quality behaviour can cause the low users confidence of audit report thus becoming a threat to the audit profession. The purpose of this research was to analyze the direct effect of the complexity of audit variable, locus of control and risk of error toward the reduce audit quality, and to examine the indirect effect between the complexity of audit, locus of control and risk of error to the reduce audit quality with auditors dysfunctional behavior as the intervening variable. The data collection of this research was using questionnaire method that distributed to 85 auditors working at Public Accounting Firm (KAP) in central Sumatra. The numbers of auditors who became research sample were 52 auditors from 17 public accounting firms. The collected data were analyzed by using Partial Least Square (PLS). 10 hypotheses are used for get the final research. It showed that the complexity of audit, locus of control, and risk of error affect the reduce of audit quality. This study showed that the complexity of audit and locus of control had effect toward dysfunctional behavior, whereas the risk of error variable did not have any effect toward the audit dysfunctional behavior. This study also showed that the dysfunctional behavior affect the reduce audit quality. When the independent and dependent variables were mediated by dysfunctional behavior, it showed that the complexity of audit, locus of control, and risk of error indirectly affected the reduce audit quality with auditors dysfunctional behavior as the intervening variable. Keywords: complexity of audit, locus of control, risk of error, reduce audit quality, and auditors dysfunctional behavior

PENGARUH STABILISASI SEMEN TERHADAP SWELLING LEMPUNG EKSPANSIF

    Get PDF
Semakin kecil indeks plastisitas, nilai daya dukung semakin besar.Kata kunci : lempung ekspansif, stabilisasi semen, pemadatan, UC

    Get PDF
It is well understood that wilderness expeditions improve well-being; however, there is little supporting quantitative data. The aim of this study was to measure the impact of wilderness expeditions on self-esteem (SE) and connectedness to nature (CN) and assess whether benefits varied according to participant and expedition characteristics. SE and CN were assessed pre– and post–wilderness expeditions in 130 adolescents using Rosenberg’s SE scale and the state CN scale. Two-way ANOVA revealed significant increases in SE and CN (p < .001) as a result of single expeditions. There was also an interaction effect of expedition and gender on SE (p < .05). Males had a higher SE at the start but female SE increased most. Linear regression revealed that living environment, gender, and the length and location of the expedition did not contribute to changes in SE and CN. Regular contact with natural environments will improve adolescent well-being, with the largest improvements in females
