The experiment comprising 30 okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) genotypes were grown and analysed for yield and its attributing traits at the Department of Vegetable science, Kumarganj, Faizabad during Zaid (2011) period. All the characters studied showed a wide range of variation. The variability for yield among the accessionsevaluated was also remarkable. The magnitude phenotypic coefficient of variation was higher than genotypic coefficient of variation for all traits. Both phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) and genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) were high for plant height (11.10 and 10.60, respectively). Fruit weight exhibited low value of GCV (2.31) and PCV (4.74) and likely to show less response under selection. High heritability (91.3) with high genetic advance (26.74) was recorded for plant height, whereas, ridges per fruit had high heritability (97.0) with moderate genetic advance (18.45). This study aimed to evaluate okra genotypes for variability with a view to providing information on the development of high yielding genotypes to meet the growing food demand of the populace

    Get PDF
This research work was aimed to enhance the oral bioavailability and provide faster onset of action of Tadalafil (used for the treatment of the erectile dysfunction (ED) and pulmonary arterial hypertension) by formulating its mouth dissolving film (MDF). Tadalafil belongs to BCS class II and the oral bioavailability of it’s about 28%. The MDF of Tadalafil was prepared by solvent casting method using HPMC-E5 (film forming agent), Methyl cellulose (thickening agent), Propylene glycol (plasticizer), Tween-80 (solubilizing agent), Microcrystalline cellulose (disintegrating agent), Citric acid (saliva stimulating agent), Sucrose (sweetening agent), Vanillin (flavoring agent), EDTA disodium (preservative). The formulation was optimized by two factors, three level (23) full factorial design using concentration of Plasticizer (X1) and concentration of film forming agent (X2) as independent variables and formulation was evaluated for uniformity of mass, thickness, folding endurance, drug content uniformity, in-vitro disintegration, in-vitro drug dissolution study and stability study. Based on results it was concluded that MDF (F5) showed enhanced bioavailability and faster onset of action as compared to available tablet dosage form

Cubosomes: A Novel Carrier for Transdermal Drug Delivery

    Get PDF
Cubosomes are square and rounded particles with internal cubic lattice. Cubosomes are thermodynamically stable and consist of honeycombed (cavernous) structures separating two internal aqueous channels and a large interfacial area. Cubosomes are nanoparticles which are self assembled liquid crystalline particles of certain surfactants with proper ratio of water with microstructure that provides unique properties of practical interest. Bicontinuous cubic liquid crystalline phase is optically clear and very viscous material has the unique structure at nanometer scale. The word bicontinuous refers to the division of the two continuous but non-intersecting aqueous regions by lipid bilayer that is twisted into space filling structure. Hydrating a surfactant or polar lipid that forms cubic phase and then dispersing a solid like phase into smaller particles usually forms a cubosomes. Self-assembled cubosomes as active drug delivery systems are receiving more and more attention and interest after the first discovery and nomination. They exhibit different internal cubic structure and composition with different drug-loading modalities. It has high internal surface area and cubic crystalline structures, relatively simple preparation method, biodegradability of lipids, the ability of encapsulating hydrophobic, hydrophilic and amphiphilic substances, targeting and controlled release of bioactive agents. Cubosomes are having wide range of applications in various fields and they can be characterized by various evaluation parameters. So, Cubosomes are gaining more attention in pharmaceutical field. Keywords: Cubosomes, Liquid crystal, drug-loading, hydrophilic, hydrophobic, amphiphilic

Congestion Aware WSN-IoT-Application Layer Protocols for Healthcare Services

    Get PDF
In the healthcare industry, WSN-IoT networks can be used to gather patient data for statistical purposes. IoT-based application-level protocols do not take into account these facts while forwarding the data to the gateway or server, which may degrade the network performance if the data was collected from a patient with ordinary/critical health issues and the route was busy or congested. In this paper, we'll look at the performance of two application layer protocols (i.e. CoAP and MQTT) within the constraints of a scalable network by integrating a congestion-aware scheme with them
