    Community Structure And Condition Of Coral Reefs In Poopoh Village Waters, Tombariri District, Minahasa Regency

    This study aims to provide information about coral reefs condition in Poopoh waters and as input For related stakeholders for future coral reef management and conservation. Data sampling employed SCUBA gear with Line Intercept Transect (LIT) at 3 M and 10 M depth. It used 30 M-transect line and each depth was laid 3 transects.Results showed that the highest number of hard coral colonies at 3 M depth was found in branching coral and the lowest in ACD, while at 10 M depth, the highest number of colonies was recorded in CMR and the lowest in ACB.  Based on percent cover, it was found that the depth of 3 M had moderate coral condition, while the depth of 10 M had poor condition. Both depths had low diversity index, high eveneness index, and low dominance index.Key words: coral reef condition,  percent cover, diversity, evenness, dominance.  ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi tentang kondisi terumbu karang di perairan Desa Poopoh sebagai masukan bagi pihak-pihak terkait untuk pengelolaan dan pelestarian terumbu karang di masa mendatang.Pengambilan data terumbu karang menggunakan alat SCUBA dengan metode LIT (Line Intercept Transek) pada kedalaman 3 M dan 10 M. Penelitian in menggunakan 30 M panjang  transek, dan masing-masing kedalaman ditempatkan 3 transek.Jumlah koloni karang batu terbanyak di kedalaman 3 meter ditemukan pada jenis karang bercabang (CB), 4,33 koloni dan jumlah koloni terendah pada ACD, sedangkan pada kedalaman 10 M, koloni terbanyak ditemukan CMR dan terendah pada ACB.  Berdasarkan persentase tutupan, ditemukan bahwa kedalaman 3 meter memiliki kondisi terumbu karang sedang, sedangkan kedalaman 10 M memiliki kondisi terumbu karang buruk. Kedua kedalaman memiliki indeks keanekaragaman (H’) rendah, indeks kemerataan tinggi, dan indeks dominasi tergolong rendah.Kata kunci: kondisi terumbu karang, persen tutupan, keragaman, pemerataan, dominasi

    Fly fish growth pattern (Decapterus spp) in Likupang Water, Nort Sulawesi

    This study was aimed to find out the size distribution of scad (Decapterus spp) caught by Likupang fishermen and to find out theirgrowth patterns. Fish samples were collected by traditional purse seine fishermen in Likupang waters. Total catches were 139 individuals consisting of 89 D. macarellus and 50 D. macrosoma.The former was dominated by size of 19.2-20.6 cm, while the latter was dominated by size of 13.1-14.1 cm. Length-weight relationship analysis showed that the growth patterns of D. macarellus and D. Macrosoma were isometric meaning that the increase in length is consistent with weight gain.Keywords: Likupang, Decapterus spp and growth patternsABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui distribusi ukuran ikan layang (Decapterus spp) yang ditangkap oleh nelayan Likupang and untuk menduga pola pertumbuhannya. Sampel ikan diperoleh nelayan tradisional pukat cincin di perairan Likupang.Total hasil tangkapan adalah 139 ekor terdiri dari 89 ekor  D. macarellus dan 50 D. macrosoma. Hasil tangkapan D. macarellus didominasi oleh kelas ukuran 19,2-20,6 cm, sedangkan D. macrosomadidominasi oleh kelas ukuran 13,1-14,1 cm. Analisis hubungan panjang berat menunjukkan bahwa pola pertumbuhan ikan D. macarellusdan D. macrosoma bersifat isometrik yang artinya pertambahan panjang selaras dengan pertambahan berat.Kata kunci: Likupang, Decapterus spp dan Pola pertumbuha

    Vertical Distribution of Hard Corals in Southern Siladen Island

    This study was aimed at provide information on hard coral distribution in southern Siladen Island. The work was done using SCUBA gear Line Intercept Transect (LIT). Thirty m long-line transects were placed at the reef flat, 5 m depth, 10 m depth, 15 m depth, and 20 m depth. A total of 44 hard coral genera was recorded, and the highest number of genre was found at 5 m depth. Coral species diversity was also high enough at the reef flat (1.032) and 5 m depth (1.28). Coral reef condition at 10 m depth was good enough as well and categorized as productive due to much higher percent of the biotic component than the abiotic component. The dominant life forms consisted of tabulate Acropora and branching corals at the reef flat, encrusting corals, branching corals, and foliose corals at 5 m, encrusting corals at 10 and 20 m depth, and massive corals, encrusting corals, and branching corals at 15 m depth, respectively

    Characteristics of Gel Emulsion Formulation of Snakehead (Channa Micropeltes) As Wound Healer

    This study is aimed to know the characteristics and the effectivity of gel emulsion of snakehead (Channa micropeltes) extract in accelerating wound healing process. It used experimental method with Complete Randomized Design. Four treatments with 3 replications were employed, i.e. 1%, 2%, and 4% gel emulsion of snakehead Channa micropeltes extract and a control treatment. Results showed that C. micropeltes extract formulated in gel emulsion had white colour, typical aroma of gel emulsion, soft texture with mean dispersion ability of 3 cm, and pH 6. In vivo test on male mices that gel emulsion of C. micropeltes extract was highly effective (P≤0.05) to accelerate wound healing, in which the treatment of 1% gel emulsion gave the highest effect with 98.5% wound healing at day-14, followed with that of control treatment, 95% healing, then 2%, 90% healing and 4%, 90% healing, respectively. Snakehead (Channa micrpeltes) extract formulated in gel emulsion can speed up the wound healing process

    Length-weight relationship and gonadal index of juvenile bluestripe snapper Lutjanus kasmira (Forsskål, 1775) in the waters around Tanamon Village South Minahasa

    This study aims to determine the length-weight relationship, growth patterns, and gonadal index of juvenile bluestripe snapper Lutjanus kasmira. Samples were collected using a hand line with a hook numbered  3 and a monofilament fishing line numbered 80. Sampling activities were carried out on July 26th – August 4th, August 26th - September 4th, and October 10th, 2020. A total of 70 fish, 22 females and 48 males was caught. Female length distribution ranged from 104 to 150 mm with a weight range of 18.19-55.87 g, while male length ranged from 107 to 150 mm in length with a weight of 19.00-57.00 g. The length-weight relationship was indicated with W= 0.0177L2.9344 (R2=0,7816) for males and W = 0.012L3.0817 (R2=0,8976) for females with isometric growth pattern. The length-weight relationship for combined sexes was W= 0.0156L2.9816 (R2=0,8186) with an isometric growth pattern. The gonadal maturity for all samples was at immature and developing stages. The gonadal index in female snapper at immature was 0.16 and developing was 0.41, whereas the male gonadal maturity index at immature was 0.14 and developing was 0.38.Keywords: Lutjanus kasmira; length-weight; gonad maturity; gonadal indexAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan panjang berat, pola pertumbuhan dan indeks  gonad  ikan kakap Lutjanus kasmira. Sampel ikan ditangkap menggunakan pancing ulur mata pancing nomor  3 dan tali monofilament nomor 80. Aktivitas pengambilan sampel dilakukan masing-masing pada 26 Juli-4 Agustus, 26 Agustus-4 September 2020, dan 10 Oktober 2020. Sebanyak 70 individu sampel diperoleh, 22 betina dan 48 jantan. Sebaran ukuran panjang ikan betina  104-150 mm dan berat 18,19-55,87 g. Sebaran ukuran panjang ikan jantan 107-150 mm dan berat 19,00-57,00 g.     Hubungan panjang-berat diperoleh W= 0,0177L2,9344 (R2=0,7816) untuk jantan dan W = 0,012L3,0817 (R2=0,8976) untuk betina dengan pola pertumbuhan isometrik. Gabungan ikan kakap jantan dan betina diperoleh W= 0,0156L2,9816 (R2=0,8186)  dengan pola pertumbuhan isometrik. Tingkat kematangan gonad  (TKG) terhadap seluruh sampel baik jantan maupun betina berada pada TKG I (belum matang) dan TKG II (berkembang). Indeks  gonad pada ikan kakap betina pada TKG I sebesar 0,16 dan TKG II sebesar 0,41.     ESTIMASI KANDUNGAN KARBON (C) PADA SERASAH DAUN MANGROVE DI DESA LANSA, KECAMATAN WORI, KABUPATEN MINAHASA UTARA

    Global warming is one of the environmental issues related to climate change. Coastal blue carbon ecosystems such as mangrove and seagrass have ability to combat global warming. Mangrove ecosystem has an important ecological function in efforts to mitigate global warming, by carbon storage. This study was done in Lansa Village mangrove forest and focused on mangrove leaf litter. The purpose of this study was to estimate carbon content in mangrove leaf litter. Leaf litter samples were collected by using a 1x1 m2 litter trap, which was made of black nylon with a mesh size of about 0.2 cm, 8 traps were put under mangrove trees canopy, with a height of 1.5 m above sea level or at the highest tide. The samples were taken and observed every 7 days. The samples were analyzed by using Dry-Ash Method. The results showed that the average litter production of gram wet weight (Gbb) and gram dry weight obtained during the study were 122.97 gbb m2/28 days, 4.39 gbb m2/28 days, 47.69 gbk m2/28 days, 1.83 gb m2/day. The average of mangrove leaf litter biomass is 30.12 g m2. The highest amount of carbon storage in mangrove litter was 19.30 gram C. The average value of the percentage of carbon content of all plots was 31.38% per day. Based on these results the estimated amount of carbon removal in mangrove leaves was 2.16 t C ha-1 y-1 or 337.18 t C y-1.and 1,237.45 t CO2 y-1.Ekosistem mangrove memiliki fungsi ekologis yang sangat penting dalam upaya mitigasi pemanasan global, yakni sebagai penyerap dan penyimpan karbon Hutan mangrove juga memiliki peran sebagai penyerap karbon dioksida (CO2) dari udara sehingga sangat berguna untuk mitigasi perubahan iklim. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untung mengestimasi kandungan karbon pada serasah daun mangrove di hutan mangrove Desa Lansa, Kecamatan Wori, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode litter trap yang berukuran 1x1 m2, yang terbuat dari nylon berwarna hitam dengan ukuran mata jaring (mesh size) sekitar 0,2 cm, sebanyak 8 buah dipasang di bawah kanopi pohon mangrove, dengan ketinggian 1,5 m di atas permukaan air laut atau pada pasang tertinggi untuk menampung jatuhnya serasah dan diamati setiap 7 hari. Hasil penelitian diperoleh rata-rata produksi serasah gram berat basah (Gbb) dan gram berat kering yang didapat selama penelitian, sebesar 122,97 gbb/m2/28hr, 4,39 gbb/m2/hr, 47,69 gbk/m2/28hr, 1,83 gbk/m2/hr. rata-rata biomassa serasah daun mangrove sebesar 41,07. Jumlah simpanan karbon tertinggi pada serasah mangrove sebesar 19,30 gram C. Nilai rata-rata persentase kandungan karbon dari semua plot adalah sebesar 31,38% per hari, berdasarkan hasil penelitian jumlah estimasi kandungan karbon yang tersimpan pada serasah daun mangrove 2,16 ton/ha/tahun

    Composition and Condition Of Coral Reefs In Dudepo Cape, South Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi

    This study aims to determine the composition and condition of coral reefs in Dudepo Cape, South Bolaang Mongondow Regency. The method used is Line Intercept Transect (LIT). Data were collected by SCUBA diving at 3 meters and 10 meters depths. In 3 meters depth was found biotic components such as Acropora and non-Acropora with 6 growth forms, and five other biotic components, while abiotic components were only found in coral rubbles (R). In 10 meter depth was found biotic components live coral with 7 growth forms, and five other biotic components, while the abiotic components as sand and coral rubbles. In two depths, the coral reef component dominant were Acropora digitate (ACD) and Acropora branching (ACB). The condition of coral reefs at 3-meter depth and 10 meters were  “Fairâ€Â  with the percent cover of live corals being 35.59% and 37.30%.Keywords: Coral; Coral Reef; ConditionAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi dan kondisi terumbu karang di Tanjung Dudepo Kabupaten Bolaang Mongondow Selatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Line Intercept Transect (LIT). Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan penyelaman SCUBA pada kedalaman 3 meter dan 10 meter. Pada kedalaman 3 meter ditemukan komponen biotik berupa karang hidup acropora dan non-acropora dengan 6 bentuk pertumbuhan, dan 5 komponen biotik lainnya, sedangkan komponen abiotik hanya ditemukan berupa pecahan karang. Pada kedalaman 10 meter ditemukan komponen biotik berupa karang hidup dengan 7 bentuk pertumbuhan, dan 5 komponen biotik lainnya, sedangkan komponen abiotik berupa pasir dan pecahan karang. Pada dua kedalaman, bentuk pertumbuhan yang mendominasi yaitu acropora digitate dan acropora branching. Kondisi terumbu karang pada lokasi penelitian khususnya pada kedalaman 3 meter dan 10 meter yaitu berada pada kategori cukup dengan persentase tutupan sebesar 35,59% dan 37,30%. Kata kunci: Karang; Terumbu Karang; Kondisi

    Echinoderms are one of the main components of marine biodiversity that play an important role in ecosystem function. The purpose of this study to determine the diversity, abudance,dominance, frequency and important value index of the phylum Echinoderm.The method use in this research was cruising method and the quadratic transect method. The results of this study on intertidal zone of Molas obtained as a whole includes four classes, namely Asteroidea, Echinoidea, Ophiuroidea and Holothuroidea with a total of 12 species. Based on data analysis used the quadratic transect method, it was obtained: at station I H' = 1.666, the highest species abundance index is Protoreaster nodosus at 1.133 ind/m2 and relative at 40.48%, C = 0.245 and the highest relative dominance of P. nodusus was 66.90%, the highest species frequency index is P. nodusus of 0.467 and a relative of 33.33% and the highest important value index is P. nodusus of 140.71% while at station II it is obtained H' = 1,384, The highest species abundance index is Diadema setosum at 3.067 ind/m2 and relative 55.42%, C = 0.359 and the highest relative dominance is D. setosum at 85.63%, the highest species frequency index is P. nodusus at 0.4 and relative at 27. 27% and the highest important value index of D. setosum was 159.23%.Keywords: Echinoderms, Diversity, Abundance, Dominance, Frequency, Important Value Inde

    Morphological identification of crabs in the rocky coast of Manado Bay

    Coastal areas have a wealth of biological natural resources including marine life such as crustaceans. One of the marine organisms in the crustacean group is the crab. The purpose of this study was to identify the types of crabs that live in rocky coastal habitats through a morphological approach. To determine the morphology of crabs can be done by looking at the shape, color, and size. The results of this study found 3 types of crabs in two locations in the Manado Bay area including the crab is Grapsus albolineatus, Ozius truncatus, and Uca (Galasimus) tetragonon. Based on the results of the research above, morphological forms were found on the abdomen in the form of a tapered triangle which indicated that the crab was male and the abdomen was triangular with the female sex. The most common crabs found at the study site were female crabs.Keywords: Coastal Area; Crab; Morphology AbstrakWilayah pesisir memiliki kekayaan sumber daya alam hayati diantaranya biota laut seperti krustasea. Salah satu organisme laut dalam golongan krustasea adalah kepiting. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis kepiting yang hidup di habitat pantai pesisir berbatu melalui pendekatan morfologi. Untuk mengetahui morfologi pada kepiting dapat dilakukan dengan melihat bentuk, warna serta ukuran. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan 3 jenis spesies kepiting pada dua lokasi yang berada di daerah Teluk Manado diantaranya kepiting Grapsus albolineatus Ozius truncatus dan Uca (Galasimus) tetragonon. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas maka ditemukan bentuk morfologis pada bagian abdomen berbentuk segitiga meruncing yang menunjukkan bahwa kepiting tersebut berkelamin jantan dan abdomen berbentuk segitiga melebar merupakan kepiting dengan jenis kelamin betina.     Marine Debris Composition on Tasik Ria Beach, Tombariri, Minahasa Regency

    Indonesia is referred to as the second largest contributor of marine plastic waste in the world after China, with an estimated 0.48-1.29 million metric tons per year (Jambeck et al, 2015). The main problem today is the lack of information about pollution of marine debris on the coast, especially in North Sulawesi. This study aims to identify the type of marine debris on Tasik Ria Beach using the transect line observation method. Observation of marine debris was carried out 5 times with a total of 10 transects between February and April 2019. Data analysis was carried out using several software namely Microsoft Excel, Statgraphics, and JMP. The analysis technique used is EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis) with GDA (Graphical Data Analysis) as the main approach. Of the various types of debris obtained, plastic debris is the most commonly found, as many as 189 items, followed by glass 97 items, wood and derivatives of 11 items, rubber 5 items and clothes 2 items. Based on the results of the study, the type of macro debris is the most common category of debris at the study site. The total number of macro-debris collected in ten observation transects was 316 items with a total weight of 118.62 gr/m2, while meso-debris had only 6 items with a total weight of 7.18 gr/m2. The percentage of macro-debris composition found on Tasik Ria beach is plastic (58.15%), glass (29.85%), metal (6.52%), wood and derivatives (3.42%), rubber (1, 55%) and clothes (0.62%). These results can illustrate the potential for events where plastic is the dominant component of marine debris on the coast, specifically in the District of Tombariri, Minahasa Regency.Keywords: Marine debris, Macro-debris, Category, Composition, Tasik Ria ABSTRAKIndonesia disebut sebagai kontributor sampah plastik ke laut terbesar kedua di dunia setelah Tiongkok, dengan estimasi 0,48-1,29 juta metrik ton per tahun (Jambeck et al, 2015). Masalah utama dewasa ini adalah kurangnya informasi mengenai pencemaran sampah laut di pantai, khususnya di Sulawesi Utara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis sampah laut di Pantai Tasik Ria dengan menggunakan metode pengamatan garis transek. Pengamatan sampah laut dilakukan sebanyak 5 kali dengan total 10 transek antara bulan Februari hingga April 2019. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak yaitu Microsoft Excel, Statgraphics, dan JMP. Adapun tehnik analisis yang digunakan adalah EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis) dengan pendekatan utama yaitu, GDA (Graphical Data Analysis). Dari berbagai semua jenis sampah yang didapatkan, sampah plastik merupakan yang paling banyak ditemukan yaitu sebanyak 189 item, diikuti kaca 97 item, kayu dan turunannya 11 item, karet 5 item dan terakhir pakaian 2 item. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, jenis sampah makro merupakan ukuran sampah yang paling banyak ditemukan di lokasi penelitian. Jumlah total makro-debris yang dikumpulkan di sepuluh transek pengamatan adalah sebanyak 316 item dengan bobot total 118,62 gr/m2, sedangkan meso-debris hanya terdapat 6 item dengan bobot total 7,18 gr/m2. Persentase komposisi makro-debris yang terdapat di pantai Tasik Ria adalah plastik (58,15%), kaca (29,85%), logam (6,52%), kayu dan turunannya (3,42%), karet (1,55%) dan pakaian (0,62%). Hasil ini dapat menggambarkan potensi kejadian dimana plastik menjadi komponen sampah laut dominan di pantai, secara khusus di Kecamatan Tombariri, Kabupaten Minahasa.Kata kunci: Sampah laut, Makro-debris, Jenis, Komposisi, Tasik-Ri
