Planning of Library and Documentation Systems : need for a cell for developmental research in documentation

    Get PDF
The need for developing the basic tools for documentation services, especially the design of depth schedules for classification, by the various documentation centres themselves, is discussed. The work analysis and the time required for the design of depth schedule is illustrated with a case study . It is suggested that it is much more helpful for the various documentation centres to design the depth schedules r a t h e r than to depend en one or two research institutions . Therefore, it is proposed that a draft plan for library and documentation systems should make provision for developmental research in the field of library and information science

Variational approach to self-adjointness and some applications to biomathematics

AbstractIn this paper using variational approach, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a nonlinear boundary value problem to be self-adjoint. Analytic representations of Lagrangian and Hamiltonian are given. Several interesting applications to biological models are also discussed

Some Studies on life of Track Pin Rubber Bushes .

    Get PDF
Track pin an important component in the tracks of heavy armoured vehicles is made of steel surrounded by rubber bush. This construction enables the pin to transmit the torsional loads. As the failure of track pin makes the vehicle immobilised, it is important to ensure a specified life for these pins. As the pin is made of rubber and steel, the theoretical studies become difficult. An attempt has been made to find out the parameters that influence the life of track pins. A finite element method is used to estimate the stresses in the rubber. The temperature rise due to the torsional loads, computed using the energy equation is found to be 64.86 °c for 1800 s at a speed of 30 km/hr. close to that obtained from actual field measurements

Describes the various steps involved in rendering a standard term. Identifies the difference in the role of the term occuring in a faceted classification schedule. Analyses the work involved in the conversion, and the time required for each of the steps

Dynamics of parasite population and its histopathological and histophysiological effects in the stomach of a freshwater fish

    Get PDF
The caryophyllaeid cestode Lytocestoides fossilis infects the freshwater catfish Heteropneustes fossilis. The study was conducted for two consecutive years (2004-06) to record the bio-statistical data of the parasite. The incidence, intensity, density and index of infection of the parasite have been recorded. The infection was more during June to September, moderate during February to May and low during October to January. The parasite brought about severe histopathological changes in the stomach of infected fish. The changes observed in the stomach of fish included structural damage of the villi, inflammation, and fibrosis associated with hyperplasia and metaplasia. The hypertrophy of mucous layer led to vacuolation and necrosis. Histochemical changes were noticed with enhanced carbohydrate, protein and lipid contents. The enhanced substrate content in the infected organ might be due to the disfunctioning of the digestive tract, which results in the accumulation of various metabolites. Mucus secretion was triggered as a protective interaction against parasitic invasion. The parasitic infection affects the general metabolic state of the host and as the result, the fish becomes sluggish and moribund

Study of the Surface Integrity and Heat Measurement of Hard Turning of Hard Chrome Coated EN24 Substrate

AbstractThe principal aim of this paper is to hard turn the hard chrome plated EN24 substrate using TiAlN coated PcBN inserts. The variables used for the experimentations are the spindle speed, feed, depth of cut, nose radius and cutting edge angle. EN24 substrate was coated with hexavalent chrome to a thickness of 170μm. The surface hardness before and after hard turning of hard chrome plated surfaces were studied. The temperature developed on the insert, workpiece and chips were studied in the present investigation. An experiment was carried out to determine the maximum heat development on the insert. The experimental results revealed that the maximum heat was observed at 2mm from the cutting edge on the top diagonal. The images obtained from the confocal microscope and scanning electron microscope discovered the nature of fracture of the chips from the work surfaces
