Two-Hop Routing with Traffic-Differentiation for QoS Guarantee in Wireless Sensor Networks

    Get PDF
This paper proposes a Traffic-Differentiated Two-Hop Routing protocol for Quality of Service (QoS) in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). It targets WSN applications having different types of data traffic with several priorities. The protocol achieves to increase Packet Reception Ratio (PRR) and reduce end-to-end delay while considering multi-queue priority policy, two-hop neighborhood information, link reliability and power efficiency. The protocol is modular and utilizes effective methods for estimating the link metrics. Numerical results show that the proposed protocol is a feasible solution to addresses QoS service differenti- ation for traffic with different priorities.Comment: 13 page

Pulsar Kicks With Modified URCA and Electrons in Landau Levels

We derive the energy asymmetry given the proto-neutron star during the time when the neutrino sphere is near the surface of the proto-neutron star, using the modified URCA process. The electrons produced with the anti-neutrinos are in Landau levels due to the strong magnetic field, and this leads to asymmetry in the neutrino momentum, and a pulsar kick. The magnetic field must be strong enough for a large fraction of the eletrons to be in the lowest Landau level, however, there is no direct dependence of our pulsar velocity on the strength of the magnetic field. Our main prediction is that the large pulsar kicks start at about 10 s and last for about 10 s, with the corresponding neutrinos correlated in the direction of the magnetic field. We predict a pulsar velocity of 1.03 ×10−4(T/1010K)7\times 10^{-4} (T/10^{10}K)^7 km/s, which reaches 1000 km/s if T ≃9.96×1010\simeq 9.96 \times 10^{10} K.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figure

Experimental Study of Perforated Pin Fins with Perforations around the Circumference of the Fins

Nine fins with inline arrangement and eight fins in staggered arrangement with each fin having the diameter of 16 mm and the perforation diameter of 3 mm are modeled to study the heat transfer performance. The Nusselt number for staggered perforated fins is obtained in the range of 90 to 235 while for solid pin fins in the similar arrangement, obtained in the range of 80 to 220 with Reynolds number in the range of 15000 to 82,000. The convective heat transfer coefficient in case of perforated fins with staggered arrangement is obtained in the range of 25 to 60 W/m2K while for solid pin fins, it in the range of 20 to 50 W/m2K. Overall analysis showed perforated pin fins with staggered arrangement performed better in terms of heat transfer as compared sold pin fins

What measurements of neutrino neutral current events can reveal

FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO - FAPESPWe show that neutral current (NC) measurements at neutrino detectors can play a valuable role in the search for new physics. Such measurements have certain intrinsic features and advantages that can fruitfully be combined with the usual well-studied charged lepton detection channels in order to probe the presence of new interactions or new light states. In addition to the fact that NC events are immune to uncertainties in standard model neutrino mixing and mass parameters, they can have small matter effects and superior rates since all three flavours participate. We also show, as a general feature, that NC measurements provide access to different combinations of CP phases and mixing parameters compared to CC measurements at both long and short baseline experiments. Using the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) as an illustrative setting, we demonstrate the capability of NC measurements to break degeneracies arising in CC measurements, allowing us, in principle, to distinguish between new physics that violates three flavour unitarity and that which does not. Finally, we show that NC measurements can enable us to restrict new physics parameters that are not easily constrained by CC measurements.11124FUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO - FAPESPFUNDAÇÃO DE AMPARO À PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO - FAPESP2014/19164-62017/02361-1We are grateful to Michel Sorel for providing us with the migration matrices used in this work, for a calculation probing a feature of the results obtained with these matrices, and for very helpful discussions. Beneficiation of Bababudan Low Grade Magnetite ores - A Technical Appraisal

    Get PDF
The horse-shoe shaped Bababudan range of low grade magnetite ore deposits in the western part of Karnataka State, India, is distributed over a length of about 25 kms. The deposits have for convenience, been divided into three continuous blocks viz., Rudragiri, Attigundi and Mahal. The huge ore reserves, proximity to the Manglore Port for possible export of iron ore and connection with Bangalore and Manglore cities through national highways, make these deposits prospective for exploration

First report of the occurrence of Myrothecium verrucaria in watermelon seeds from India

    Get PDF
Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) is known to be affected by a variety of both seed-borne and soil-borne fungi. In routine screening of watermelon seed samples, sporodochia of Myrothecium verrucaria were observed. The fungus was isolated and the spore suspension was inoculated onto healthy seedlings of watermelon. The resulting symptoms confirmed Koch's postulates

Neutrino Emission From Direct Urca Processes in Pion Condensed Quark Matter

We study neutrino emission from direct Urca processes in pion condensed quark matter. In compact stars with high baryon density, the emission is dominated by the gapless modes of the pion condensation which leads to an enhanced emissivity. While for massless quarks the enhancement is not remarkable, the emissivity is significantly larger and the cooling of the condensed matter is considerably faster than that in normal quark matter when the mass difference between uu- and dd-quarks is sizable.Comment: 12 pages,6 figures, published versio
