    Frequency and Spatial Domains Adaptive-based Enhancement Technique for Thermal Infrared Images

    Low contrast and noisy image limits the amount of information conveyed to the user. With the proliferation of digital imagery and computer interface between man-and-machine, it is now viable to consider digital enhancement in the image before presenting it to the user, thus increasing the information throughput. With better contrast, target detection and discrimination can be improved. The paper presents a sequence of filtering operations in frequency and spatial domains to improve the quality of the thermal infrared (IR) images. Basically, two filters – homomorphic filter followed by adaptive Gaussian filter are applied to improve the quality of the thermal IR images. We have systematically evaluated the algorithm on a variety of images and carefully compared it with the techniques presented in the literature. We performed an evaluation of three filter banks such as homomorphic, Gaussian 5×5 and the proposed method, and we have seen that the proposed method yields optimal PSNR for all the thermal images.     Green Building Construction for Sustainable Future

    Green building construction is relatively new phenomenon in Indian construction industry. With increasing awareness about global warming and climate change movement for sustainable development is gaining force. Indian Government also realizes the need for sustainable construction as its economy is growing at fast pace (7 to 8 percent annually) and that needs a rapid and vast infrastructure development. This paper provides a state of the art literature review on green building construction movement in India. This study provides an overview of green building rating systems, cost & benefits, green design strategies, and discusses their implications for future of sustainable development in India. A need for widespread awareness about sustainable development and capacity building for design, construction and operations of green buildings is realized.     THE EFFECT OF METFORMIN ON NON-ENZYMATIC GLYCOSYLATION OF RECOMBINANT HUMAN SERUM ALBUMIN

    Objective: The present research work was aimed to observe the effect of Metformin hydrochloride (MET) on non-enzymatic glucosylation of recombinant human serum albumin (rHSA).Methods: Albumin was incubated at 37 ° in 10 mM phosphate buffer (pH 7.4) using 0.2% sodium azide for 7 d with different concentrations of D-(+)-glucose and MET. Incorporation of D-(+)-glucose (5-12 mM) into rHSA was calculated in the presence of metformin hydrochloride (1-5 µg/ml) following extensive dialysis of the incubation mixture. The binding experiments were exercised at respective plasma concentration of rHSA, D-(+)-glucose and MET in corresponding to that of diabetic and non-diabetic population. Glycosylation of rHSA was quantified using 2-thiobarbituric acid (2-TBA). Whereas, metformin hydrochloride was quantified using a validated LC-MS/MS method with negative ion electrospray ionization using multiple reactions monitoring (MRM) mode. MET was eluted isocratically on X-Bridge BEH Phenyl column with a mobile phase consisting of mixture of water (containing 50 mM ammonium acetate) and acetonitrile in a ratio of 70:30.Results: The weighted (1/X2) calibration curve from 20 to 10, 000 ng/ml was employed for the calculation ofMET in sample with line equation of Y= 0.0020584x+0.0037475. The binding pattern ofMET to rHSA, was specific and pH dependent, possibly due to a change in ionization state of MET and change in conformation of rHSA during the binding process.Conclusion: All the described parameters were in accordance to the FDA Guideline (inside 85-115% for the accuracy and less than 15% for the precision), thus it can be concluded that the bioanalytical method is were fully validated as per USFDA guideline. These experiments showed the affinity ofMETtoward the rHSA proved to be higher than its affinity toward the glucose

    Effect of spacings and fertilizers on growth, yield and physical fruit quality of chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) cultivars

    The effect of spacings and fertilizers on growth, yield and fruit quality (physical) of chilli (Capsicum annuwn) cultivars was studied at Bikaner (Rajasthan, India). The cultivar Local Desi recorded significantly higher plant height, dry weight per plant, weight and volume per fruit. However, cultivar NP 46 prodnced maximum number of fruits per plant, fruit yield per plant and fruit yield per hectare. Application of 100 kg N in combination with 25 kg P and 50 kg K per ha recorded highest fruits per plant. Maximum plant height, fresh weight and dry weight per plant, number of fruits and yield of fruits per plant were recorded in the widest spacing (55 cm x 55 cm); closest spacing (25 cm x 25 cm) produced highest fruit yield per hectare. The quality offruits was affected by spacings. Interaction effect of spacings, fertilizers and cultivars was non significant to affect growth, yield and fruit quality attributes. &nbsp

    Efficacy and Tolerability of Intramuscular Dexketoprofen in Postoperative Pain Management following Hernia Repair Surgery

    Objective. To evaluate the safety and efficacy of intramuscular dexketoprofen for postoperative pain in patients undergoing hernia surgery. Methodology. Total 202 patients received single intramuscular injection of dexketoprofen 50 mg or diclofenac 50 mg postoperatively. The pain intensity (PI) was self-evaluated by patients on VAS at baseline 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours. The efficacy parameters were number of responders, difference in PI (PID) at 8 hours, sum of analogue of pain intensity differences (SAPID), and onset and duration of analgesia. Tolerability assessment was done by global evaluation and adverse events in each group. Results. Dexketoprofen showed superior efficacy in terms of number of responders (P = .007), PID at 8 hours (P = .02), and SAPID 0–8 hours (P < .0001). It also showed faster onset of action (42 minutes) and longer duration of action (6.5 hours). The adverse events were comparable in both groups. Conclusion. Single dose of dexketoprofen trometamol 50 mg given intramuscularly provided faster, better, and longer duration of analgesia in postoperative patients of hernia repair surgery than diclofenac 50 mg, with comparable safety
