Nationwide GEO-PRODUKT Forum - a project to integrate activities in the field of tourist availability and promoting the geological heritage of Poland
Products and services inspired by geodiversity are referred to as geoproducts and most often constitute an element of the sustainable development of UNESCO's global geoparks. In 2015 an informal group of designers and manufacturers of geotourism products was created in Poland, which is reflected in the annual meetings called the GEO-PRODUKT Forum. The aim of the project is to integrate the activities of scientific bodies, local authorities, non-governmental organisations, tourist and other communities to disseminate knowledge in the field of Earth sciences, to popularize geological and mining heritage of Polish territory, as well as to develop geotourism and geoparks
Światowy Geopark Unesco. Priorytety edukacyjne
Geopark is an area characterized by a special geological heritage, whose economic development is sustainable. is area must have a relatively uniform character, clearly defined boundaries and sufficient space to act as a stimulator of local economic development. Within the geopark, there should be a network of geological sites with significant values from the point of view of geotourism, education and science, as well as representing other, non-geological aspects (biotic, archaeological, cultural), making up the specificity of a given area as a region distinguishing in terms of nature and culture. An important aspect of the geopark's operation is a coherent strategy for the protection of geological sites, in accordance with the legal regulations in force in a given area. e idea of preserving the geological heritage for future generations and the concepts of creating Unesco Global Geopark in the Świętokrzyskie region have extensive assumptions. Indirectly, they are based on clear, historically documented relationships between man and inanimate nature, expressed in the traditions of ore and rock mining.
The Świętokrzyski Geopark is the first UNESCO Global Geopark in operation situated entirely on the territory of Poland. The location of the geopark in the south-western part of the Świętokrzyskie (Holy Cross) Mountains makes it an area of exceptional geodiversity, which is also reflected in the specificity of the relief. The morphological evolution of this area was conditioned mainly by the diverse lithological and structural features of the Quaternary substrate and the impact of various morphogenetic processes resulting from climatic changes taking place in the Cenozoic. The current topography of the Geopark is the resultant of all these conditions and anthropopressure related to the past and present exploitation of mineral resources. Within the Świętokrzyski Geopark, a model area where these relationships can be observed is the Chęciny-Kielce Landscape Park. The geomorphological heritage, understood as part of the geological heritage related to the land relief, determines the high geotouristic potential of this area. The practical use of this potential for the sustainable socio-economic development of the area covered by the Geopark is the subject of activities carried out by local authorities in cooperation with scientific institutions, non-governmental organizations and public administration bodies. Obecne ukształtowanie terenu Geoparku stanowi wypadkową wszystkich tych uwarunkowań oraz antropopresji związanej m.in. z dawną i współczesną eksploatacją surowców mineralnych.
Geopark as an Area of Conservation and Sustainable Use of Mining and Geological Heritage
Jednym z założeń tworzenia i funkcjonowania geoparku jest ochrona dziedzictwa
geologicznego i funkcjonowanie sieci geostanowisk. Interesujące przykłady
zagospodarowania terenów pogórniczych pod potrzeby geoturystyki
i edukacji geologicznej pochodzą z wielu krajów europejskich, m.in. z Wielkiej
Brytanii, Niemiec i Portugalii. Wskazują one na wymierne korzyści wynikające
z wdrażania projektów edukacyjnych aktywizujących społeczności lokalne. Proces
lokalnych inicjatyw biznesowych wykorzystujących i promujących dziedzictwo
geologiczne i kulturowe geoparku.
Artykuł uwzględnia problematykę włączenia społeczności lokalnej w proces
decyzyjny poprzez wykorzystanie mechanizmów funkcjonowania i zarządzania
geoparkiem. One of the objectives of the establishment and functioning of the geopark is
the protection of geological heritage and operation of the network of geosites.
Interesting examples of post-mining land use for the needs of geotourism and geological education come from many European countries, including UK, Germany
and Portugal. They show the measurable benefits of the implementation of
educational projects, activating communities. This process involves the building
of regional identity and identity with the geopark initiative and the activities
planned in their area. It is also important economical activity consisting in the
creation and support of local business initiatives, harnessing and promoting geological
and cultural heritage of the geopark.
Article takes into account the problem of integration of local communities in
decision-making through the use of mechanisms of operation and management
of geopark
