Electronic Commerce has experienced rapid growth during the last few years. It is a business technique by which consumers buy and sell goods and services online. It has not only helped in increasing speed of service delivery but also helped in reducing cost factors. Leading e- commerce Companies such as Snapdeal, Jabong, and Flipkartare aiding in growth and development of this concept. As per IMAI, domestic digital commerce market is expected to register much higher growth in coming years because of better internet penetration, increase in trust level and pricing advantage. Hence, it became important for stakeholders to know more about the e-attitude of the consumers and triggered an idea to conduct study on e-commerce shopping in India. Using the Multiple Regression Model, Means Comparison Analysis and Demographic Details, the study gave decent business in sights into the Indian consumer’s cognitive decision behavior when choosing products onlineEl comercio electrónico ha experimentado un crecimiento rápido durante estos últimos años.

Selection and performance in post-compulsory education

    Get PDF
This paper investigates the determinants of participation and performance in post-compulsory education, controlling for the selection into post-compulsory education and prior attainment, using a unique primary dataset on pupils studying in the post-compulsory grade in 2011-2012 from one district of the Punjab province of Pakistan. The main findings of the paper show that participation and performance in post-compulsory education are two different processes, with participation being driven by availability of post-compulsory institutions within travel distance, while performance, once in post-compulsory education, is determined by ability. The results further highlight that distance reduces participation most for those living in rural areas

Fetomaternal outcome in pregnant women with derranged thyroid function

Background: Thyroid dysfunction is the second most common endocrine disorder observed during pregnancy after diabetes. Universal screening of thyroid disorders is recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy. The present study aims to determine the fetomaternal outcome in women with thyroid dysfunction. Methods: The study was a prospective observational study conducted at Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Hindu Rao Hospital and North DMC Medical College, Delhi from January 2019 to June 2022. It was approved by Institutional Ethics Committee. Pregnant women aged 18 to 40 years up to 20 weeks of gestational age with singleton pregnancy were included in this study. All the data was entered in pre designed proforma. The data analysis was done by statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0. Results: A total of 110 pregnant women were included in the study. 55 pregnant women with thyroid dysfunction were taken as study group and 55 euthyroid pregnant women were taken as controls. With respect to   maternal complications, neonatal birth weight and Apgar score in the study group are significant. Conclusions: Timely screening for thyroid dysfunction during pregnancy will reduce fetomaternal complications

Spin relaxation dynamics of radical-pair processes at low magnetic fields

We report measurements of room-temperature spin-relaxation times T1T_1 and T2T_2 of charge-carrier spins in a π\pi-conjugated polymer thin film under bipolar injection and low (1\mbox{ mT}\lesssim B_0\lesssim 10\mbox{ mT}) static magnetic fields, using electrically detected magnetic resonant Hahn-echo and inversion-recovery pulse sequences. The experiments confirm the correlation between the magnetic-field sensitive observables of radical-pair processes, which include both the spin-dependent recombination currents in organic semiconductors and the associated spin-relaxation times when random local hyperfine fields and external magnetic fields compete in magnitude. Whereas a striking field dependence of spin-lattice relaxation exists in the low-field regime, the apparent spin decoherence time remains field independent as the distinction between the two is lifted at low fields.Comment: Manuscript: 14 pages, 4 figures; Supplemental Material: 13 pages, 7 figure

Parental ethnic identity and child development

We examine the relationship between parental ethnic identity and cognitive development in ethnic minority children. This aspect of parental identity may shape children’s cognitive outcomes through a direct influence on parenting behaviour, or by mediating parental access to social resources. Drawing an ethnic minority sample from a detailed UK cohort study, we find a negative association between maternal majority identity and children’s cognitive test scores. This result is driven by poor households, by those who lack local family support networks, and by those who mostly speak a foreign language at home. We suggest that differential access to social resources is the most persuasive explanation of this result. Differences in parenting behaviour do not seem to play an important role

Examining the Link between Crime and Unemployment: A Time Series Analysis for Canada

We use national and regional Canadian data to analyse the relationship between economic activity (as reflected by the unemployment rate) and crime rates. Given potential aggregation bias, we disaggregate the crime data and look at the relationship between six different types of crimes rates and unemployment rate; we also disaggregate the data by region. We employ an error correction model in our analysis to test for short-run and long-run dynamics. We find no evidence of long-run relationship between crime and unemployment, when we look at both disaggregation by type of crime and disaggregation by region. Lack of evidence of a long-run relationship indicates we have no evidence of the motivation hypothesis. For selected types of property crimes, we find some evidence of a significant negative short-run relationship between crime and unemployment, lending support to the opportunity hypothesis. Inclusion of control variables in the panel analysis does not alter the findings, qualitatively or quantitatively

Validity and worth in the science curriculum: learning school science outside the laboratory

It is widely acknowledged that there are problems with school science in many developed countries of the world. Such problems manifest themselves in a progressive decline in pupil enthusiasm for school science across the secondary age range and the fact that fewer students are choosing to study the physical sciences at higher levels and as careers. Responses to these developments have included proposals to reform the curriculum, pedagogy and the nature of pupil discussion in science lessons. We support such changes but argue from a consideration of the aims of science education that secondary school science is too rooted in the science laboratory; substantially greater use needs to be made of out-of-school sites for the teaching of science. Such usage should result in a school science education that is more valid and more motivating and is better at fulfilling defensible aims of school science education. Our contention is that laboratory-based school science teaching needs to be complemented by out-of-school science learning that draws on the actual world (e.g. through fieldtrips), the presented world (e.g. in science centres, botanic gardens, zoos and science museums) and the virtual worlds that are increasingly available through information and communications technologies (ICT)

Parental ethnic identity and child test scores

We examine the relationship between parental ethnic identity and the test scores of ethnic minority children. We use standard survey measures of the strength of parental identity alongside validated cognitive test scores in a rich British cohort study. We show that children whose mothers report either an adoption or an active rejection of the majority identity tend to score lower in cognitive tests at age 7, compared to those children whose mothers report neutral feelings about the majority identity. We find no consistent differences in test scores according to mothers’ minority identity. Our findings provide no support for education or citizenship policies which promote the adoption of the majority identity or discourage the maintenance of separate identities in ethnic minority communities
