The development of muscle power should be taken into account in soccer training. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of a 6-week of mixed power training on the level of the motor skills of the lower limbs of young soccer players. The training was conducted during the starting period. The study included twelve 16-18-year-old players who regularly participated in specific soccer trainings and played in regional competitions. Their basic anthropometric features were measured. The assessment of the power of the lower limbs was carried out using two jump tests: CMJ and SJ. The maximum anaerobic power was calculated and was expressed in relation to body weight and lean body mass. In addition, Drop Jump tests were performed from three different heights on the basis of which RSI reactive strength index were calculated. On completion of the training program an increase in the level of the results of all the tests was observed: SJ (cm) (cohen's d: 0.43), CMJ (cm) (cohen's d: 0.33), SJPmax (W/kg) (cohen's d: 0.43), CMJPmax (W/kg) (cohen's d: 0.30), SJPmax (W/LBMkg) (cohen's d): 0,57), CMJPmax (W/LBMkg) (cohen's d: 0,44), RSI 0,2 (cohen's d: 0,59), RSI 0,3 (cohen's d: 0,45), RSI 0,4 (cohen's d: 0,58). An additional six-week ballistic-plyometric training program, used as a supplement to the basic training plan during the start period, resulted in an increase in the motor skills of the lower limbs of young soccer players. The application of combined ballistic and plyometric training methods helps to improve the strength and speed potential of young soccer players.

Previous research indicates that high results in speed climbing are determined by a high level of explosive strength and muscle power in the lower limbs. However, a literature review shows that no studies have analysed women practicing this climbing discipline. Therefore, the main goal of the study was to assess the level of development of physique and the level of explosive strength and muscle power of the lower limbs of female speed climbers at a representative level. Furthermore, an attempt was made to analyse the relationships between the variables studied and race time in female speed climbers. The study included 5 female players (speed climbers) who were members of the national team in 2016. The measurements were made during the Polish National Team Camp.  The analysis was based on the results of the fastest races expressed in seconds. The measurements and indices computed in the study included body height, body weight, lean body mass, BMI and ponderal index. The assessment of the power of the lower limbs was carried out using two jump tests: CMJ with arm swing and CMJ. Power was expressed relative to body weight and to lean body mass. The highest relationships with race time were recorded for body height (r = 0.94, p 0.05), body weight (r = 0.96, p 0.01) and lean body mass (LBM) ( r = 0.98, p 0.01). Strong but statistically insignificant relationships were recorded between race time and power indicators of the lower limbs (correlations above r = -0.66).In female speed climbing, race time can be determined by the level of physique. Smaller body size can allow female climbers to perform faster and achieve better times in speed climbing. It can be suggested that in female speed climbing, a high level of maximum alactic anaerobic capacity of the lower limbs is an important factor that affects race time. The results of our own research suggest that in female speed climbing, specific body characteristics may to a greater extent determine the race time compared to anaerobic maximum power of the lower limbs

VALUE OF SPEED CAPABILITIES IN YOUTH SPEED CLIMBING AT HIGH SPORTS LEVEL

Current research on speed climbing at the senior level shows that speed capabilities are a significant factor determining climbing time. The main purpose of our research was to evaluate the level of speed capabilities among young speed climbers and to examine the relationship between the level of speed capabilities and the results achieved during an international competition. The subjects of the research were girls and boys in the following age categories: Female Youth A (age=16.6), Female Youth B (age=14.5 years), Male Youth A (age=16.87 years) and Male Youth B (age=14.8 years). Measurements of somatic features were included: body height, body weight, percentage of fat tissue and BMI. Speed capabilities were measured with Wingate Test. The significance test of differences showed no significant differentiation within climbing times between the groups of girls and the groups of boys. A strong correlation between climbing time and relative peak power was noticed in the Female Youth B group. The correlation between peak power and climbing time was lower in the other groups. Research showed that in speed climbing, as career progresses, it is importance of other factors rather than speed capabilities that may increase. It can be assumed that with an increase in training experience, motor skills become more essential.

PREDICTING PERFORMANCE IN SPEED CLIMBING: ACCURACY OF THE FORCE-VELOCITY TEST ON A CYCLE ERGOMETER

The present study examined the validity of the force-velocity (F-V) mechanical parameters of the lower limbs as a predictors of the competitive performance in junior male speed climbing. The second aim was to evaluate F-V characteristics in competitive speed climbers in the junior male category. Ten junior male speed climbers (age: 18±0.5 years; BH: 174.7±4.5 cm; BW: 66.4±6.6 kg; with mean best climbing time from the competition BCT: 7.29±0.66 s) were participants in the research. All they were participants in the Youth European Cup in speed climbing. F-V characteristics were measured using a cycle ergometer test according to the Vandewalle’s protocol. To evaluate of the validity between BCT (criterion) and mechanical parameters (practical measures) from F-V test a standard error of the estimate (expressed as a raw and standardized typical error, TE) and correlation coefficients (rx,y) were used. Moreover, the validity of BCT as a potentially predictor of final competition rank (as a criterion for BCT) was evaluated. Additionally the mean value and standard deviation were calculated for all measured variables. Validity of the BCT as a competition place predictor was largely overestimated (TE=0.73 and rx,y=0.81, p p≤0.05). Accuracy of the BCT prediction for somatic and mechanical variables were very largely error biased. The standardized values of TE for these variables were: 1.93÷7.25. The rx,y were in the range of -0.18 to -0.46. The level of the mechanical variables from the F-V cycle ergometer as a predictors of the BCT in speed climbing may be largely error biased. Application of the cycle ergometer F-V test of prediction BCT values in speed climbing may have low practical value. Moreover, BCT variable may be a poor predictor of the final competition result. Coaches should take these suggestions into account during preparations to speed climbing competitions.

AbstractInteractions and complex formation between lipids and biologically active compounds are crucial for better understanding of molecular mechanisms occurring in living cells. In this paper a molecular organisation and complex formation of 2-(4-fluorophenylamino)-5-(2,4-dihydroxybenzeno)-1,3,4-thiadiazole (FABT) in DPPC multibilayers are reported. The simplified pseudo binary phase diagram of this system was created based on the X-ray diffraction study and fourier transform infrared spectroscopic data. The detailed analysis of the refraction effect indicates a much higher concentration of FABT in the polar zones during phase transition. Both the lipid and the complex ripple after cooling. It was found that FABT occupied not only the hydrophilic zones of the lipid membranes but also partly occupied the central part of the non polar zone. The infrared spectroscopy study reveals that FABT strongly interact with hydrophilic (especially PO2−) and hydrophobic (especially “kink” vibrations of CH2 group). The interactions of FABT molecules with these groups are responsible for changes of lipid multibilayers observed in X-ray diffraction study

The aim of the research was to assess the differentiation of the body structure and the level of motor potential of the athletes practising different disciplines in the field of combat sports in Legion Team Sports Club in Tarnów. The athletes, aged 19-20, with training experience of 3-5 years, were compared in two groups. The first group consisted of athletes practising mixed martial arts, so called MMA, and the other group, of athletes practising Brazilian ju-jitsu, so called BJJ. 30 practitioners were examined. The basic elements of the somatic structure, i.e. body height, body weight, body fat content and BMI were measured and BMI indexes were calculated. Selected manifestations of motor potential were also measured: static balance, plain reaction time to a visual stimulus, trunk flexibility, static strength of forearms, relative strength, explosive strength of lower limbs, MAW, muscle activation speed and resistance of abdominal muscles to fatigue as anaerobic strength. In the course of the analyses it was found that: the body structure of the athletes training in different combat sports sections does not significantly differentiate them. The athletes in both (BJJ and MMA) sections displayed a similar level of the basic somatic build. The level of motor skills in the BJJ and MMA sections significantly differentiated the athletes in these sections in terms of static strength (p = 0.045), relative strength (p = 0.044) and fatigue resistance, i.e. anaerobic strength (p = 0.002). The higher level of these elements of motor skills was demonstrated by the BJJ section athletes.Celem badań była ocena zróżnicowania budowy ciała i poziomu sprawności motorycznej zawodników uprawiających w KS Legion Team Tarnów odmienne dyscypliny w zakresie sportów walki. Zawodników w wieku 19-20 lat, o stażu treningowym 3-5 lat, zestawiono porównawczo w dwóch grupach. Pierwsza grupę stanowili zawodnicy uprawiający mieszane sztuki waliki tzw. MMA, a drugą trenujący brazylijskie ju-jitsu tzw. BJJ. Zawodnicy obu sekcji (BJJ i MMA) prezentowali podobny poziom podstawowych cech budowy somatycznej. Poziom sprawności motorycznej w sekcjach BJJ i MMA znacząco różnicował zawodników tych sekcji w zakresie siły statycznej (p = 0,045), siły względnej (p = 0,044) i odporności na zmęczenie, czyli wytrzymałości anaerobowej (p = 0,002). Wyższy poziom tych aspektów sprawności motorycznej prezentowali zawodnicy sekcji BJJ

    Get PDF
Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of combined vertical and horizontal strength exercises on sprint mechanical parameters and sprint performance among amateur soccer players. Methods: The study followed a controlled experimental design. Twenty amateur soccer players were assigned to either an experimental group (EG, n = 11) or a control group (CG, n =9). In addition to the soccer training, the EG group conducted a sixweek training program involving combined horizontal and vertical strength exercises. Sprint performance and sprint mechanical parameters were computed using a field method based on velocity-time data pre- and post-intervention. The repeated measures ANOVA test was used for between-group comparisons. Results: The results suggest a significant (p < 0.05) improvement in sprint performance at 0-10 meter distance (p = 0.02), 0-15 meter distance (p = 0.01), 0-20 meter distance (p = 0.03), and the maximal value for the ratio of force - RFmax (p = 0.03) in EG compared to CG. Conclusions: The horizontal and vertical strength exercises can improve sprinting performance at distances longer than 5 m but do not improve the most of examined mechanical sprinting parameters in amateur soccer player

    No full text
Introduction: Modern volleyball requires players to present a high level of strength and speed fitness. Efficiency in this discipline is also significantly determined by the level of development of the somatic features, including especially body height and shoulder range. The main aim of the study was to assess the level of development of the most important morpho-functional features characterizing female volleyball players at high sports level against the background of non-training women. Material and methods: 13 female players representing the 1st league volleyball club took part in the research. The control group consisted of 11 women not exercising any form of competitive sport. Measurements of basic somatic features were carried out: body height, body weight and its tissue components. In addition, explosive strength of the lower limbs tests (CMJ) and the Wingate test was performed. On the basis of statistical analysis, the most important somatic features and motor fitness indicators characterizing I-league volleyballers were selected. Results: The greatest differences between volleyball players and non-training women in terms of morphological features was recorded for lean body mass (LBM [kg], Z = 6.63, p <0.01). However, in terms of motor fitness indicators, the largest differences were found in terms of peak power, average power and CMJ [cm] and CMJ power [W/kg]. Calculated, respectively: Z = 2.59, p <0.001; Z = 3.22, p <0.001; Z = 2.75, p <0.001, Z = 2.54, p <0.001). Conclusions: Our research confirmed importance of selected morpho-functional features conducive to high efficiency of Female’s volleyball. Jumping tests (e.g. CMJ) assessing the motor potential of lower limbs of volleyball players have practical value in the context of recruitment, selection and control of female's volleyball training. The Wingate test, as a diagnostic tool, can be used as an adjunct to retinal specific tests. Materiał i metody: W badaniach wzięło udział 13 zawodniczek reprezentujących I-ligowy klub siatkarski. Grupę kontrolną stanowiło 11 kobiet nietrenujących żadnej formy sportu. Przeprowadzono pomiary podstawowych cech budowy somatycznej: wysokość ciała, masę ciała i jej komponenty tkankowe. Ponadto zmierzono siłę eksplozywną kończyn dolnych (CMJ) oraz przeprowadzono test Wingate. Na podstawie analizy statystycznej wyselekcjonowano najistotniejsze cechy budowy somatycznej i wskaźniki sprawności motorycznej charakteryzujące I-ligowe siatkarki. Wyniki: Największe zróżnicowanie pomiędzy siatkarkami a nietrenującymi w zakresie cech morfologicznych odnotowano dla masy ciała szczupłego (LBM [kg], Z=6,63, p<0,01). Natomiast w zakresie wskaźników wysiłkowych największe różnice stwierdzono w zakresie piku mocy, mocy średniej oraz wyskoku CMJ i mocy względnej wyskoku CMJ. Obliczono odpowiednio: Z=2,59, p<0,001; Z=3,22, p<0,001; Z=2,75, p<0,001, Z=2,54, p<0,001). Wnioski: Badania własne wykazały i potwierdziły wysokie znaczenie wybranych cech morfo-funkcjonalnych sprzyjających wysokiej efektywności gry w siatkówce kobiet.
