The effect of various organic radicals on the atomic refractivities of the halogens

The refractive indices of ten liquid organic halides and three parent hydrocarbons have been measured for seven spectral lines in the visible region;The densities of the above compounds have been accurately determined;Their molar refractions have been calculated for each of the seven spectral lines;A dispersion equation has been fitted to each compound;The molar refraction extrapolated to infinitely long wave-length has been calculated;The molar refractions of the six ortho- and meta-halo-nitrobenzenes as well as nitrobenzene have been measured in 0.2 and 0.4 mol fraction solutions in dioxane;The atomic refractions for the Na D line and for infinitely long wave-length have been calculated and compared for the halogen of each compound;The atomic dispersions of the halogens have been calculated and compared for each of the liquid halides
