Electrical transport properties of Yb8-xYxV2O17 (x = 0; 2; 8)

The UV-vis-NIR and electrical properties of Yb8xYxV2O17 for x = 0, 2, and 8 were investigated. The band energy gap of 2.6 eV determined for Yb6Y2V2O17 (x = 2) and comparable for the remaining compounds with x = 0 and 8 is characteristic for insulators. Low electrical conductivity with a characteristic minimum shifting to higher temperatures from 322, via 360 to 370 K in the sequence x = 0, 2 and 8, which decreases with increasing content of ytterbium was observed. Temperature dependence of thermoelectric power showed np transition at 410 and 467 K for x = 0 and 2, respectively, and n-type conductivity for x = 8, indicating mainly n-type electrical conductivity. The synthesis and properties of the phases obtained by solid-solid reactions

The presented work encompasses the subject of the studies and the results obtained over the last years by the research workers of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. They include mainly the studies on the reactivity of metal oxides, searching for new phases in binary and ternary systems of metal oxides as well as describing phase relations establishing in such systems. They also encompass works on the extensive characteristics of physico-chemical properties of the newly obtained compounds

Percezione del rischio e stili educativi nella prevenzione degli incidenti stradali in adolescenza

Nell'ambito delle attività di prevenzione degli incidenti stradali è stata condotta una ricerca in tre scuole medie inferiori della Toscana che ha coinvolto 271 studenti, M e F, ai quali sono stati somministrati: 1)il Physical Risk Assessment Inventory (PRAI) il questionario di stili educativi di Bonino et al. (2003) un questionario sugli incidenti stadali e un compito di narratibvo con la consegna "Ricorda quella volta che hai corso un grosso rischio". Gli adolescenti intervistati valutano i comportamenti legati a stili di vita scorretti come più rischiosi delle attività sportive e la percezione della gravità del rischio tende a decrescere con l'età. Gli studenti con genitori autoritari e permissivi sottostimano il rischio rispetto a quelli con genitori utorevoli. L'esperienza personale di un incidente e lo stile educativo autorevole dei genitori, incrementando la valutazione del rischio, sembrano configurarsi come fattori protettivi

Valutazione del rischio, stili educativi e narrazione di un incidente stradale in un gruppo di adolescenti

La ricerca esamina la relazione fra l'esperienza di condotte rischiose e la stima della loro pericolosità, con riferimento allo sress percepito e alle differenze di genere. A 222 insegnanti in formazione sono stati somministrati il Physical Risk Asessment Inventory (Llewellyn 2003) e la Scala di Valutazione Rapida dello Stress di Tarsitani e Biondi (1999). La correlazione negativa fra la frequenza dei comportamenti a rischio e la valutazione della loro pericolosità appare mediata dai livelli di stress (un maggior carico di stress si associa a una minor partecipazione ad attività a rischio, soprattutto sportive e a una valutazione di maggior pericolosità dei comportamenti a rischio per la salute) e dalle differenze di genere (le F riportano più stress percepito e meno comportamenti a rischio, valutando più pericolosi quelli a rischio salute di cui non hanno fatto esperienza)

Comparative Study of Phases Forming in Niobium-Antimony Oxides System upon High Temperature Treatment and High-Energy Ball Milling

The compound $SbNbO_4$ that is formed in a ternary system of Nb-Sb-O has been obtained for the first time by high-energy ball milling of the equimolar mixture of oxides $Sb_2O_3$/$Nb_2O_5$ in argon atmosphere. This compound was characterised by X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis- thermal gravimetry, infrared, and scanning electron microscopy methods and its properties were compared with those of $SbNbO_4$ also obtained as a result of high-temperature reaction between the same oxides and also in argon atmosphere. As shown by differential thermal analysis results, irrespective of the method of synthesis, $SbNbO_4$ is stable in argon atmosphere up to ≈ 1125°C and in air up to ≈ 800°C. The compound can be applied as a photocatalyst in the reaction of producing hydrogen from water

Electric relaxation in Nb6VSb3O25-ceramics

Broadband dielectric spectroscopy measurements of Nb6VSb3O25 showed that in both the real ("0) and imaginary ("00) components of permittivity there is visible relaxation process strongly obscured by dc conductivity. Application of the electric modulus representation of the data enables to study temperature evolution of this relaxation together with conductivity relaxation. It was showed that the activation energies for both processes are close. Low-frequency loss tangent increases strongly with temperature, suggesting that in the compound under study additional energy losses are associated with the conduction of electric current, as determined by the Joule– Lenz law

Educazione e prevenzione primaria in adolescenza: la narrazione di incidenti stradali e gli stili educativi dei genitori

Nell'ambito di una serie di interventi educativi per la prevenzione degli incidenti stradali è stata condotta una ricerca-intervento in tre scuole medie inferiori della provincia di Pisa (città, periferia, campagna) su 164 studenti delle terze classi coinvolti nel corso di preparazione all'esame di guida di ciclomotori. Sono stati somministrati: un questionario sugli incidenti stradali che prevede la descrizione narrativa e l'indicazione di alcuni dettagli (chi ha provocato l'incidente, la sua età, le cause e le conseguenze del sinistro) e il questionario sugli stili educativi di Bonino, Cattelino e Ciairano (2003) che permette di valutare il sostegno e il controllo fornito da quattro categorie di genitori (con stile educativo autorevole, autoritario, supportivo e permissivo). I dati sono stati elaborati sia quantitativamente sia qualitativamente (software T-LAB) per individuare i modelli di comportamento stradale di riferimento e le caratteristiche del linguaggio descrittivo impiegato. Le cause di incidente più spesso indicate sono state le trasgressioni delle norme dovute all'abuso di sostanze, con interessanti differenze fra le tre scuole e differenze di genere negli stili educativi attribuiti ai genitori

Physical layer design, link budget analysis, and digital baseband implementation for 60 GHz short-range applications

The large bandwidth of the 60GHz frequency band enables wireless short-range applications with data rates of several Gbit/s. The German project EASY-A has focused on early prototype implementations for selected applications, although no generally accepted 60GHz standard has been available at the time. The implementations are based on application-oriented physical layer designs and link-budget investigations that account for the scenario-specific channel characteristics and for different integration technologies. This paper discusses the results of these investigations and details the hardware implementation of the digital baseband processing that relies on considerable parallelization. The link-budget results show that SiGe technology allows for 1Gbit/s at a range of 3.5m in non-line-of-sight environments, while up to 10Gbit/s are feasible at more than 1m in case of strong line of sight
