In recent years, remote-sensing data have increasingly been used for the interpretation of objects and mapping in various applications of engineering geology. Digital elevation model (DEM) is very useful for detection, delineation, and interpretation of geological and structural features. The use of image elements for interpretation is a common method to extract structural features. In this paper, linear features were extracted from the Landsat ETM satellite image and then DEM was used to enhance those objects using digital-image-processing filtering techniques. The extraction procedures of the linear objects are performed in a semi-automated way. Photographic elements and geotechnical elements are used as main keys to extract the information from the satellite image data. This paper emphasizes on the application of DEM and usage of various filtering techniques with different convolution kernel size applied on the DEM. Additionally, this paper discusses about the usefulness of DEM and satellite digital data for extraction of structural features in SW of Zagros mountain, Iran

Abstract In order to investigate the effect of SMS on participants' attitude toward learning English, A group of 75 students were selected from 90 students who were studying different engineering fields at Arak University of Technology. But 38 students took part in the whole study. Data analysis using paired T-test showed the positive effect of SMS on participants' attitude toward learning English. Also, the relationship between gender and participants' attitude toward learning English by using SMS was investigated. Data analysis using ANOVA repeated measure revealed no relationship between gender and participants' attitude toward learning English by using SMS

Introduction: AIDS will change route of life people with disease and to be cause loss of self – esteem, increased vulnerability feeling and confusion thoughts in their. The purpose of this study is investigating the role of spirituality in quality of life of patients with AIDS/HIV. Methods: This study was conducted with a sample of 43 patients with AIDS/HIV in Sistan & Baluchestan province in 1390 that had been selected via method of available sampling. Spirituality was measured using the Spirituality Questionnaire (Parsian and Dunning, 2009) and quality of life was measured using the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient,s stepwise multiple regression, t Test and ANOVA. Results: The study results indicated that there is a significant positive relationship between spirituality and quality of life, but there is no significant relationship between demographic variables (gender, marital status, age, and disease duration) and quality of life. Results of regression analyses indicated that component of self-awareness is best predictor of physical health, psychological health and social relationships. Also, there was a significant difference among male and female patients in quality of life. Conclusion: According to these results, it can be deduced that spirituality has an impact on quality of life in patients with AIDS/HIV, and it can be used as a coping method for improving mental health and increasing quality of patients' life with AIDS/HI

    No full text
Background: Traditional medicine in Iran with the long and old background from ancient period until now has very beneficial practical and technical experience. At present despite development of conventional medicine, many patients refer to traditional medicine. This study aimed to investigate knowledge, practice and attitude toward Iranian Traditional Medicine. Methods: This study is cross-sectional and the sample of the study was 350 persons who refer to health centers of Tehran (older than 15 year). Our data was collected via standard questionnaire. Results: Mean age of participant was 34.1 SD 1.21 and 60.9% were women. Their knowledge about Iranian traditional medicine was 26.3% and 69% of them has used at least one of the traditional medicine methods that the most of them were herbal therapy(70.1%) and Hejamat(44%).generally the attitude was positive and (37%)had extremely positive and (57.6%)positive attitude toward traditional Iranian Medicine. Conclusion: In light of this result it is clear that Iranian people have a positive tendency toward Iranian Traditional medicine, so the best and complete researches for better planning is recommended

Background and Purpose: Physical inactivity is one of the most important public health issues in the world. Increasingly, links are being identified between various elements of the Physical environment and physical activity. Recent research highlights the importance of environment as a determinant of physical activity. This study aimed to identify of related environmental factors of physical activity among dormitory residence university students. Material and Method: In this study we have used environmental factors scale which is including two sections safety and facilities. Sample of study was including 120 people which gathered randomized from dormitory residence university students. Students have filled demography questionnaire and environmental factors questionnaire. Data analytic done for using SPSS. Results: To base environmental factors scale 83.4% of students have believed at dormitory there aren't enough supplies and pieces of sports equipment (like balls, bicycles, skates) to use for physical activity and 56.7% of students have believed that it is difficult to walk or jog in my neighborhood because of things like traffic, no sidewalks, dogs, gangs and so on and 54.1% of students have believed It isn't safe to walk or jog in my neighborhood during the day and 71.6% of students have believed that there are playgrounds, parks, or gyms, close to my home or that I can get to easily. Conclusion: To increase the environmental safety of neighborhood will affected physical activity levels among adolescents

Stages of Dairy Products Consumption Change by Medical Students: The Trans Theoretical Model

Background and Objective: In spite of the reverse relationship between Dairy products consumption and chronic diseases, the university students do not consume enough amounts of dairy products. Success interventions for changing dairy consumption patterns need to determine its stages of change. Determining medical students’ readiness to change the dairy consumption pattern through stages of change was the aim of this study. Methods: For this descriptive analytical cross-sectional study, 404 medical students were selected by random clustered sampling. The food frequency and stages of change questionnaires were used to get data. The relationship between age, sex, body mass index, settlement situation, marriage situation and educational STATUS with dairy consumption stages of change were analyzed by chi-2, Kruskal-wallis, Spearman correlation and logistic regression. Results: Less than 50% of students (40% females and 46% males) consumed enough servings of dairy products daily. The servings of dairy consumption had not relation with sex, marriage or settlement status, age and body mass index. The least number of students (12.6%) were in precontemplation and 26% in contemplation, 18.8% in preparation, and 24.8 and 17.8% in action and maintenance stages. While there was relationship between educational status and stages of change, such a relation had not been found between other variables and stages of change. The percent of internship students in action and maintenance stages were greater than students in medical basic sciences (OR=1.7). Conclusion: Regards to students’ inadequate amount and inappropriate kind of dairy products consumption and readiness to change dairy consumption in about half of students, it seems necessary to apply appropriate intervention strategies on the basis of stages of change to correct dairy consumption patterns
