Topological Dirac Semimetal Na3Bi Films in the Ultrathin Limit via Alternating Layer Molecular Beam Epitaxy

Ultrathin films of Na3Bi on insulating substrates are desired for opening a bulk band gap and generating the quantum spin Hall effect from a topological Dirac semimetal, though continuous films in the few nanometer regime have been difficult to realize. Here, we utilize alternating layer molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) to achieve uniform and continuous single crystal films of Na3Bi(0001) on insulating Al2O3(0001) substrates and demonstrate electrical transport on films with 3.8 nm thickness (4 unit cells). The high material quality is confirmed through in situ reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED), scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). In addition, these films are employed as seed layers for subsequent growth by codeposition, leading to atomic layer-by-layer growth as indicated by RHEED intensity oscillations. These material advances facilitate the pursuit of quantum phenomena in thin films of Dirac semimetals.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figure

The adhesion and proliferation of rat adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) as part of biocomposite with haemostatic drug Spongostan Absorbable Haemostatic Gelatin Powder as well as its regenerative efficiency after its introduction into the periurethral region in rats with experimental urinary incontinence were studied. It was found that MSCs rapidly adhere to the surface of the carrier and actively proliferate. The periurethral injection of biocomposite (Spongostan + MSCs) quickly and effectively recovers the urine continence function in animals that have undergone modeling of incontinence by urethrolysis. Spongostan hydrated in the ratio of 1 :24 inphosphate-saline buffer has a volume-forming effect in the urethra of experimental animals.

    Stripe delay filters

There are considered constructions of microsized stripe delay filters, which are realized on a basis of ceramic materials with high dielectric permittivity. Delay time of non-minimal phase filters is 7–12 ns at frequencies of 1900 MHz with relative bandwidth of 3.6–3.85%. Filters dimensions are comparable with ones used in portable communication devices. Dimensions of researched three-resonator filter at frequency of 1900 MHz are 8.4×5×2 mm with material dielectric permittivity εr = 92, and 5-resonator filter ones are 9.2×8.6×2 mm. Filters are different from traditional delay filters. Two filters of considered ones contain odd resonator number and the third one contains four resonators and it has two cross couplings. The basis of the filters is amount of step-impedance stripe resonators pairs located close to each others whose electromagnetic coupling behavior is capacitive. There are represented the results of frequency characteristics simulation for different delay filters

Interleukin-38 and cardiovascular pathology: literature review

Cardiovascular pathology is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. An important task of modern cardiology is the search and study of new biological markers. Scientists’ interest is actively focused on the study of interleukin-38. Interleukin-38 is an anti-inflammatory cytokine and a member of the interleukin-1 family. This study aimed to analyze literature sources devoted to the study of interleukin-38 as a cardiovascular biological marker. Literature sources, including all relevant publications in PubMed (MEDLINE), RSCI, Google Scholar, and Science Direct, were analyzed. The search depth was 9 years. Interleukin-38 is found in the skin, heart, placenta, fetal liver, spleen, thymus, and activated B cells of the tonsils. Interleukin-38 protein is detected in human plasma, serum, and cell cultures by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Interleukin-38 regulates immune and inflammatory responses by binding to its receptors and activating downstream signals. Its deficiency is associated with increased systemic inflammation in aging, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic diseases. Currently, not much clinical and experimental data have been accumulated regarding the effect of interleukin-38 on the cardiovascular system; however, further studies are expected to demonstrate the possibility of its use as an additional laboratory tool for diagnosis and assessment of prognosis in patients with cardiac problems. Regulating the concentration and expression of interleukin-38 is a promising strategy for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases
