    Hopolang was sexually abused by a neighbor and for nineteen years she didn't divulge her experience because she feared that she would be blamed. In the first edition of 'Joy Comes in the Morning' she shared her battle to regain her self-confidence and self-esteem by running into the arms of the One who can heal - God. Through poems, she expresses emotions, such as confusion, pain, fear, betrayal, guilt, regret, approval, self-pity, mistrust and forgiveness that she had to work through. In this revised edition of 'Joy Comes in the Morning', Hopolang recounts how she overcame, not only the trauma of being sexually abused but also other challenges, such as working through relationships and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro- something that she never imagined she could accomplish. As she narrates her experiences, her hope is that the lessons she learned will motivate and inspire her readers. No matter how difficult the circumstances are that we encounter in our lives, we can triumph, and joy always comes in the morning. As she walked the paths of recovery from sexual abuse, Hopolang Phororo longed to read stories she could relate to, of those who had suffered abuse and overcame it. Because such stories were not available, she decided to share her story, to reach out and inspire other women with the message that there is hope.     Lesotho is a very small producer of wool (1 thousand tonnes per year) and therefore has no influence on world prices and on world wool production. However, the earnings generated from wool exports contribute significantly to the economy, thus making wool an important product. This paper determines the factors that producers consider in their decisions to produce wool. An econometric supply model is developed which hypothesizes the variables that affect wool production. Lagged wool and mohair prices and rainfall are important variables that influence farmers' decisions to produce wool. The previous years' wool production is less important because of the biological lag associated with production. Other variables such as the marketing arrangements of wool and domestic policies might influence farmers' decisions to produce wool but were not considered in detail

    Prevalence and fecal egg load of gastrointestinal parasites of Angora goats in four agro-ecological zones in Lesotho

    Background and Aim: Goats are reared for their meat, mohair and other socio-cultural needs in Lesotho. Helminth infections are some of the major setbacks in the goat production industry due to their negative impact on animals' health, resulting in significant losses on meat and mohair production and death. A cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the prevalence, fecal egg infestation, and morphological identification of gastrointestinal parasites in goats. Materials and Methods: Fecal samples were collected from 765 goats and subjected to McMaster egg counting techniques using the flotation method. Statistical analyses were performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS v.26.0). Results: The overall prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites was 94.7%, and the identified gastrointestinal parasites were nematodes (64.7%), coccidia (25.8%), and cestodes (4.2%). Haemonchus contortus was identified as the prevalent gastrointestinal nematode species found in goats. The prevalence and fecal egg count of gastrointestinal parasites were significantly higher (p<0.05) in goats located in the highlands and Senqu River Valley, while goats in the lowlands demonstrated a significantly (p<0.05) higher prevalence of H. contortus. Immature goats and kids were more significantly (p<0.05) prone to gastrointestinal parasites. Conclusion: The nematodes and coccidia infestations were prevalent in goats located in the highlands and foothills, respectively, whereas nematode and coccidia fecal egg loads were higher in goats located in the foothills and Senqu River Valley, respectively

    Prevalence of mites infestation in smallholder pig farms in selected villages in Roma Valley, Lesotho

    Studies to elucidate the magnitude of mites problem in pigs, its distribution and the possible risk factors associated with infestation are lacking in Lesotho. A cross sectional study was conducted from 138 pigs selected from 70 households to determine the prevalence of pig mites and its associated risk factors. The structured questionnaires were administered to gather information from 70 pig farmers on pig management and potential risk factors for mite infestation. Binary logistic regression within SPSS (20.00) was used for determining the prevalence of mites in different parameters. Out of 138 pigs examined 91 (65.9%) tested positive for Sarcoptes scabiei. Female (56.5%) pigs were significantly (p&lt;0.05) more infected than males (11.5%). The prevalence of mites differed significantly (p&lt;0.05) between different age groups where young (41.4%) pigs had higher infection than adult pigs (26.5%). In terms of body regions, there was no statistical significant variation on the prevalence of mites between the back (53.6%) and the flanks (50.0%) however, both of these rates were significantly higher than the prevalence rate recorded for the ears (26.1%). It is concluded that pig mites represent a common health problem whereby sex, age and body region are important risk factors associated with infestation
