    Temporal nature of plasticity in the design of materials

    A full spectrum of materials responses to dynamic loading and observed temporal effects of plasticity from a united viewpoint are analyzed. The relaxation model of plasticity with characteristic time idea is capable to effectively predict the instability of the stress-strain dependencies on strain rates. It is shown that empirical models cannot simultaneously simulate the appearance and disappearance of the yield drop unlike the relaxation model of plasticity presented in the paper

    Generating cosmological perturbations at Horndeski bounce

    We construct a concrete model of Horndeski bounce with strong gravity in the past. Within this model we show that the correct spectra of cosmological perturbations may be generated at early contracting epoch, with mild fine-tuning ensuring that the scalar spectral tilt nSn_S and tensor-to-scalar ratio rr are consistent with observations. The smallness of rr is governed by the smallness of the scalar sound speed. Arbitrarily small values of rr are forbidden in our setup because of the strong coupling in the past. Nevertheless, we show that it is possible to generate perturbations in a controllable way, i.e. in the regime where the background evolution and perturbations are legitimately described within classical field theory and weakly coupled quantum theory.Comment: 38 pages, 7 figure

    Development of a Technique and Method of Testing Aircraft Models with Turboprop Engine Simulators in a Small-scale Wind Tunnel - Results of Tests

    This report presents the results of experimental investigations into the interaction between the propellers (Ps) and the airframe of a twin-engine, twin-boom light transport aircraft with a Π-shaped tail. An analysis was performed of the forces and moments acting on the aircraft with rotating Ps. The main features of the methodology for windtunnel testing of an aircraft model with running Ps in TsAGI’s T-102 wind tunnel are outlined.The effect of 6-blade Ps slipstreams on the longitudinal and lateral aerodynamic characteristics as well as the effectiveness of the control surfaces was studied on the aircraft model in cruise and takeoff/landing configurations. The tests were conducted at flow velocities of V∞ = 20 to 50 m/s in the ranges of angles of attack α =  -6 to 20 deg, sideslip angles of β = -16 to 16 deg and blade loading coefficient of B 0 to 2.8. For the aircraft of unusual layout studied, an increase in blowing intensity is shown to result in decreasing longitudinal static stability and significant asymmetry of the directional stability characteristics associated with the interaction between the Ps slipstreams of the same (left-hand) rotation and the empennage

    The time-dependent form of Tappert's range refraction parabolic equation is derived using Daletskiy-Krein formula form noncommutative analysis and proposed as an artificial boundary condition for the wave equation in a waveguide. The numerical comparison with Higdon's absorbing boundary conditions shows sufficiently good quality of the new boundary condition at low computational cost.Comment: 12 pages, 9 figure
