    Managing Triads in a Military Avionics Service Maintenance Network in Taiwan

    Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate how different types of triad structures, and the management mechanisms adopted by the focal company, affect cooperative performance. Design/methodology/approach – This paper uses a social network perspective to examine the triad management phenomenon in the military avionics maintenance context, which is closely associated with the field of operations management. Findings – This paper demonstrates that different triad structures and management mechanisms influence perceived cooperative performance. Four main findings emerged: in a triad, a firm playing a bridging role perceives higher cooperative performance than when playing a peripheral role in the triad or being located in a fully connected triad. When a firm plays the bridging role in a triad, and has a high level of trust, this leads to higher perceived cooperative performance. When a firm plays a peripheral role in a triad, high levels of coordination mechanism combined with high levels of trust result in higher levels of perceived cooperative performance. In a fully linked triad, when the coordination mechanism is well developed, the level of trust is high, so that the resulting level of perceived cooperation is high. Originality/value – This paper extends the knowledge of triad management by providing an in-depth study of a well-defined network setting with exceptionally high-level access to the most senior executives.     To fulfill the design requirement of railway reinforced system with cross-beams, the model for the static analysis of the railway reinforced system is optimized, the dynamic response is calculated by the vehicle-rail interaction method, the standards of both static and dynamic analysis are established, and the calculation results of many cases with different parameters are evaluated. It is found that, compared with simplified model, the optimized model simulated the conditions of construction site better, so that results are improved; the acceleration and the offloading factor of reinforced system is obtained by the dynamic analysis, whose vibration and resonance phenomenon can be simulated. The calculated result and the railway reinforcement design are safer by adopting the proposed standard in both static and dynamic analysis

    Undrained shear strength of soft clay reinforce with single 16mm diameter encapsulated bottom ash column

    Soft clay soil can be categorized as problematic soil. It consists of low shear strength, low permeability and high compressibility characteristics affect the stability and settlement of the structures constructed on this type of soil. A careful design analysis could be taken for any structure built on it. However, those characteristics could be improved through many methods and the easiest method that is being used in the construction field was stone column. On the other hand, coal is one of the world’s most important sources of energy. Disposal of bottom ash become environmental issues if it is not effectively reused or recycled for other application. This study is to present suitability in term of shear strength by using bottom ash to replace sand or granular material in column for ground improvement technique using laboratory scale model. Since sand is one of non-renewable material so by using by-product or waste material such bottom ash we can reduce the cost of construction as well as keep the non-renewable natural material in balance. Several experimental procedures are carried out to know the physical and mechanical properties of bottom ash and kaolin clay sample. Kaolin is being used as soil sample and bottom ash as the reinforced columns. The shear strength of the encapsulated bottom ash column measured by Unconfined Compression Test. A total 4 batches of kaolin sample had been tested and each batch consist of 5 specimens represent sample without bottom ash, partially penetration and fully penetration for singular bottom ash column. The specimen used were 50mm in diameter and 100mm in height. The diameter of bottom ash is 16mm and the height of the column are 60mm, 80mm and 100mm. The encapsulated bottom ash was installed at the centre of the specimen. The encapsulated bottom ash column with 10.24% area replacement ratio are 58.21%, 58.66% and 42.58% at sample penetration ratio, Hc/Hs of 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 respectively. It can be concluded that the shear strength of soft clay could be improved by installation of encapsulated bottom ash column. However the value of shear strength of soft clay inserted with partially penetration column increased more significant compared to the fully penetration column

    Associations between TyG-BMI and normal-high blood pressure values and hypertension: cross-sectional evidence from a non-diabetic population

    ObjectiveTriglyceride glucose body mass index (TyG-BMI) has been shown to be strongly associated with a variety of chronic diseases. However, little is known about the associations between TyG-BMI and normal-high blood pressure (BP) values and hypertension (HTN).MethodThe current study was cross-sectional in design and included 15,464 non-diabetic participants recruited between 1994 and 2016 in the NAGALA (NAfld in the Gifu Area, Longitudinal Analysis) study. Associations between TyG-BMI and normal-high BP values and HTN were assessed using multivariate logistic regression. The ability of the TyG index, BMI, and their combined index TyG-BMI to identify normal-high BP values and HTN was compared by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves.ResultsAmong the 15,464 eligible non-diabetic participants, 28.56% (4,416/15,464) and 6.23% (964/15,464) had normal-high BP values and HTN, respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed positive correlations between BMI, TyG index, TyG-BMI and normal-high BP values/HTN; after standardized regression coefficients, TyG-BMI had the strongest association with normal-high BP values and HTN compared to BMI and TyG index. In the fully adjusted model, the odds ratio (OR) value corresponding to the relationship between TyG-BMI and HTN/normal-high BP values was 2.35; when TyG-BMI was used as a categorical variable, compared with the lowest quartile of TyG-BMI the regression coefficient for the association of the highest quartile of TyG-BMI with normal-high BP values increased by 426%, while the regression coefficient for the association with HTN increased by 527%. In further spline regression analysis, we also found that there was a linearly positive correlation between TyG-BMI and systolic BP/diastolic BP (SBP/DBP), which supported the linear trend between TyG-BMI and HTN/normal-high BP values (P-trend <0.0001). In addition, ROC analysis showed that TyG-BMI had good diagnostic values for both normal-high BP values and HTN, and TyG index combined with BMI can significantly improve the ability of a single index to identify normal-high BP values and HTN.ConclusionIn the non-diabetic population, TyG-BMI showed a significant positive correlation with both normal-high BP values and HTN, and TyG-BMI was of higher value for the identification of both normal-high BP values and HTN compared to BMI and TyG index alone

    Increased Methylation of the MOR Gene Proximal Promoter in Primary Sensory Neurons Plays a Crucial Role in the Decreased Analgesic Effect of Opioids in Neuropathic Pain

    BACKGROUND: The analgesic potency of opioids is reduced in neuropathic pain. However, the molecular mechanism is not well understood. RESULTS: The present study demonstrated that increased methylation of the Mu opioid receptor (MOR) gene proximal promoter (PP) in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) plays a crucial role in the decreased morphine analgesia. Subcutaneous (s.c.), intrathecal (i.t.) and intraplantar (i.pl.), not intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) injection of morphine, the potency of morphine analgesia was significantly reduced in nerve-injured mice compared with control sham-operated mice. After peripheral nerve injury, we observed a decreased expression of MOR protein and mRNA, accompanied by an increased methylation status of MOR gene PP, in DRG. However, peripheral nerve injury could not induce a decreased expression of MOR mRNA in the spinal cord. Treatment with 5-aza-2′-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC), inhibited the increased methylation of MOR gene PP and prevented the decreased expression of MOR in DRG, thereby improved systemic, spinal and periphery morphine analgesia. CONCLUSIONS: Altogether, our results demonstrate that increased methylation of the MOR gene PP in DRG is required for the decreased morphine analgesia in neuropathic pain

    Image restoration with point-spread function regularization and active learning

    Large-scale astronomical surveys can capture numerous images of celestial objects, including galaxies and nebulae. Analysing and processing these images can reveal the intricate internal structures of these objects, allowing researchers to conduct comprehensive studies on their morphology, evolution, and physical properties. However, varying noise levels and point-spread functions can hamper the accuracy and efficiency of information extraction from these images. To mitigate these effects, we propose a novel image restoration algorithm that connects a deep-learning-based restoration algorithm with a high-fidelity telescope simulator. During the training stage, the simulator generates images with different levels of blur and noise to train the neural network based on the quality of restored images. After training, the neural network can restore images obtained by the telescope directly, as represented by the simulator. We have tested the algorithm using real and simulated observation data and have found that it effectively enhances fine structures in blurry images and increases the quality of observation images. This algorithm can be applied to large-scale sky survey data, such as data obtained by the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST), Euclid, and the Chinese Space Station Telescope (CSST), to further improve the accuracy and efficiency of information extraction, promoting advances in the field of astronomical research
