    Convertirse en docente de excelencia es un largo proceso. Para conseguirlo resulta fundamental atender al profesorado en sus primeros a帽os de ejercicio profesoral. Las pol铆ticas de desarrollo profesional docente en Am茅rica Latina est谩n empezando a prestar particular atenci贸n al apoyo que necesitan los docentes que se inician en la docencia. En este art铆culo presentamos el programa INDUCTIO que se viene desarrollando en la Rep煤blica Dominicana para la inducci贸n del profesorado principiante. INDUCTIO surge a iniciativa del Instituto Nacional de Formaci贸n y Capacitaci贸n del Magisterio (INAFOCAM) de la Rep煤blica Dominicana, con el objetivo de favorecer los procesos de inducci贸n profesional a la docencia del profesorado principiante. Contempla un amplio conjunto de actividades dise帽adas para apoyar al profesorado principiante. INDUCTIO se fundamenta en una visi贸n constructivista y conexionista de la formaci贸n docente y asume los principios de la autoformaci贸n y el desarrollo profesional docente basado en la evidencia. Coherente con esta visi贸n, el programa plantea un amplio conjunto de experiencias de aprendizaje que pueden facilitar en los docentes principiantes una inducci贸n de calidad en la docencia. INDUCTIO incorpora como elemento principal del programa la figura del mentor. Pero adem谩s acompa帽a esta figura con la organizaci贸n de c铆rculos de aprendizaje, seminarios de trabajo, formaci贸n siguiendo la modalidad b-learning. The policies of teacher professional development in Latin America are starting to pay particular attention to support for need teachers who are new to teaching. In this article we presented the program INDUCTIO which are being developed in the Dominican Republic for the induction of novice teachers. INDUCTIO comes at the initiative of the National Institute of Education and Training of the Magisterium (INAFOCAM) of the Dominican Republic, with the aim of favouring processes of professional induction of novice teachers teaching. It includes a comprehensive set of activities designed to support novice teachers. INDUCTIO is based on a constructivist view and connectionist of teacher training and takes the principles of self-training and teacher professional development based on evidence. Consistent with this view, the program raises a wide range of learning experiences that can provide beginning teachers induction of quality in teaching. INDUCTIO incorporates as a main element of the program of mentor figure. But it also accompanies this figure with the organization of learning circles, workshops, training according to mode b-learning.     Perceptions and determinants of healthy eating for people with HIV in the Dominican Republic who experience food insecurity

    ObjectiveThe current study aimed to understand how moderate and severe food-insecure people living with HIV (PLHIV) in the Dominican Republic perceive a healthy diet and explore facilitators and barriers to engaging in healthy dietary behaviours as a means of HIV self-management.DesignWe conducted semi-structured interviews with PLHIV. We generated codes on food insecurity among PLHIV and used content analysis to organise codes for constant comparison between and within participants.SettingTwo urban HIV clinics in the Dominican Republic.ParticipantsThirty-two PLHIV participated in the interviews.ResultsFactors that contributed to dietary behaviours include individual factors, such as knowledge of nutrition, views and attitudes on healthy dietary behaviours, beliefs about dietary needs for PLHIV and diet functionality. Interpersonal factors, including assistance from family and peers in providing food or funds, were deemed critical along with community and organisational factors, such as food assistance from HIV clinics, accessibility to a variety of food store types and the availability of diverse food options at food stores. Policy-level factors that influenced dietary behaviours were contingent on respondents' participation in the labour market (i.e. whether they were employed) and consistent access to government assistance. Food insecurity influenced these factors through unpredictability and a lack of control.ConclusionsPLHIV who experience food insecurity face various barriers to engaging in healthy dietary behaviours. Their diets are influenced at multiple levels of influence ranging from individual to structural, requiring multi-level interventions that can address these factors concurrently

    La regi贸n latinoamericana ha sido pionera en la implementaci贸n del etiquetado frontal de advertencia nutricional (EFAN), mismo que ha demostrado su eficacia y efectividad para identificar correctamente cuando un producto contiene cantidades excesivas de nutrientes asociados a Enfermedades no transmisibles (ENT). Sin embargo, ning煤n pa铆s del Sistema de la Integraci贸n Centroamericana (SICA); que incluye a Belice, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panam谩 y Rep煤blica Dominicana, lo ha adoptado. Por esta raz贸n, el Instituto de Nutrici贸n de Centro Am茅rica y Panam谩, convoc贸 a un grupo de expertos de la academia y la sociedad civil con el objetivo de establecer una postura t茅cnica, basada en la mejor evidencia cient铆fica, en relaci贸n al etiquetado frontal para los nutrientes cr铆ticos de alimentos y bebidas pre- envasados en la regi贸n centroamericana. Se presenta evidencia espec铆fica de la regi贸n del SICA que demuestran la superioridad del EFAN frente a otros etiquetados como las Gu铆as Diarias de Alimentaci贸n (GDA), el sem谩foro y el Nutriscore para seleccionar opciones m谩s saludables. Dentro del marco de los derechos de la ni帽ez y de los consumidores, se brindan argumentos y se hace un llamado a los gobiernos para la pronta adopci贸n del EFAN como una pol铆tica costo-efectiva para la prevenci贸n de ENT. Adem谩s, se proveen recomendaciones para su monitoreo y evaluaci贸n, as铆 como recomendaciones de otras pol铆ticas costo-efectivas como la regulaci贸n de la publicidad de alimentos no saludables dirigido a la ni帽ez y adolescencia, entre otros, para la prevenci贸n de las ENT y la creaci贸n de ambientes y sistemas alimentarios m谩s saludables y sostenibles. The Latin American region has been a pioneer in the implementation of a front- of-pack warning labeling system (FOPWL), which has demonstrated its efficacy and effectiveness in correctly identifying when a product contains excessive amounts of nutrients associated with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). However, countries of the Central American Integration System (SICA); which includes Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic, have no adopted it. For this reason, the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama convened a group of experts from academia and civil society with the aim of establishing an evidence-based technical position, in relation to front-of-pack labelling for critical nutrients of pre-packaged foods and beverages in the Central American region. Specific evidence from the SICA region demonstrating the superiority of FOPWL over other labels such as the Guideline Daily Amount (GDA), the traffic light and Nutriscore to select healthier choices is presented. Within the framework of children's and consumer rights, arguments are provided, and a call is made to governments for the prompt adoption of FOPWL as a cost-effective policy for the prevention of NCDs. In addition, recommendations for its monitoring and evaluation are provided, as well as recommendations for other cost-effective policies such as the regulation of unhealthy food advertising aimed at children and adolescents, among others, for the prevention of NCDs and the creation ofhealthier and more sustainable environments and food systems
