Isolated fallopian tubal torsion with underdiagnosed entity: a case report

    Get PDF
Isolated fallopian tubal torsion refers to twisting only the tube without involving the ipsilateral ovary. This is a rare type of adenexal torsion and is a gynecological emergency. Since this disease mostly occurs in women of childbearing age, accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment are more important issues. It is known that ovarian cyst torsion occurs well in sizes greater than 5 cm, but the epidemiology of isolated fallopian tubal torsion is unknown. Even clinically, in patients complaining of abdominal discomfort, a small andexal cyst is difficult to consider as a cause of pain. We presented an isolated fallopian tubal torsion case that can be twisted despite its small size

Citation: Yoon, J. W., Park, Y., Kim, J., & Park, C. H. (2017). Multi-jet electrospinning of polystyrene/polyamide 6 blend: thermal and mechanical properties. Fashion and Textiles, 4, 12. doi:10.1186/s40691-017-0090-4Polystyrene (PS) has high thermal resistance thus can be applied as thermally comfortable textile. However, the application is limited due its low mechanical strength. In this study, polyamide 6 (PA6) was blended with PS to improve the mechanical strength of PS, by means of a multi-jet electrospinning. Content ratio of the blend web was measured by chemical immersion test and confocal microscopy analysis. Fiber content was in accordance with the number of syringes used for PS and PA6 respectively. The effects of content ratio on the web morphology, thermal resistance, tensile behavior, air and water vapor permeability, and surface hydrophilicity were investigated. The influence of environmental humidity during electrospinning process on three dimensional (3D) web structure was also reported. PS web produced from higher humidity had more pores and corrugations at the surface. The increased surface roughness and porosity led to the increased hydrophobicity and thermal resistance. Though the blending of PA6 with PS enhanced the mechanical strength, the added PA6 decreased air/water vapor permeability and thermal resistance. The lowered thermal resistance by the addition of PA6 was mainly attributed to higher thermal conductivity of PA6 material and lowered air content with PA6 fibers

Abelian arithmetic Chern-Simons theory and arithmetic linking numbers

    Get PDF
Following the method of Seifert surfaces in knot theory, we define arithmetic linking numbers and height pairings of ideals using arithmetic duality theorems, and compute them in terms of n-th power residue symbols. This formalism leads to a precise arithmetic analogue of a 'path-integral formula' for linking numbers

Analytical Modeling of Rheological Postbuckling Behavior of Wood-Based Composite Panels Under Cyclic Hygro-Loading

This study was conducted to develop analytical models to predict postbuckling behavior of woodbased composite panels under cyclic humidity conditions. Both the Rayleigh method and von Karman theory of nonlinear plate with imperfection were used to obtain a closed form solution to the hygrobuckling and postbuckling. In addition, mechano-sorptive creep effects were also taken into account for the derivation of analytical models. The closed-form solutions derived for both isotropic and orthotropic materials showed a good agreement with the experimental results in terms of the center deformation of hardboard, especially in the case of the edge movements. The unrecovery deformation was much greater at the first cycle and then decreased as the number of cyclic hygro-loading increased
