    APEnet+: high bandwidth 3D torus direct network for petaflops scale commodity clusters

    We describe herein the APElink+ board, a PCIe interconnect adapter featuring the latest advances in wire speed and interface technology plus hardware support for a RDMA programming model and experimental acceleration of GPU networking; this design allows us to build a low latency, high bandwidth PC cluster, the APEnet+ network, the new generation of our cost-effective, tens-of-thousands-scalable cluster network architecture.     Causality in collective filtering

    In this paper, we describe a proposal for improving the practice of web-based collective filtering, in particular for what regards discussions and selection of issues about policy, based on the intuitive concept of causality. Causality, especially when presented in visual form, is especially suited to the task since it is intuitive to understand and to use, and at the same time, it's rich enough to create a semantic network between the representations of real world facts. We give some examples of the suggested system workflow and we present guidelines for its implementation

    Dynamic traffic recovery is designed and validated in a multi-layer network exploiting an SDN-based implementation of Segment Routing. Traffic recovery is locally performed from the node detecting the failure up to the destination node without involving the SDN controller. Experimental results demonstrate recovery time within 50 ms

    High-speed data transfer with FPGAs and QSFP+ modules

    We present test results and characterization of a data transmission system based on a last generation FPGA and a commercial QSFP+ (Quad Small Form Pluggable +) module. QSFP+ standard defines a hot-pluggable transceiver available in copper or optical cable assemblies for an aggregated bandwidth of up to 40 Gbps. We implemented a complete testbench based on a commercial development card mounting an Altera Stratix IV FPGA with 24 serial transceivers at 8.5 Gbps, together with a custom mezzanine hosting three QSFP+ modules.     Introducing database communication technologies for TED replication in multi-domain networks

    In multi-domain transport networks, exchange of Traffic Engineering information is required to enable effective end-to-end service provisioning and restoration by efficiently utilizing network resources. So far, several solutions have been proposed by the communication community such as the Hierarchical Path Computation Element (H-PCE) architecture. Using the H-PCE architecture a parent PCE is responsible for inter-domain path computation, while a dedicated child PCE performs intra-domain path computation within each domain. However, this approach can introduce scalability concerns especially under dynamic traffic condition such as during restoration because all path computation procedures are coordinated by the parent PCE and may require the exchange of many control messages. This paper proposes a standard communication among database systems located at the child PCEs, to exchange and share YANG-based Traffic Engineering information in multi-domain networks. By exploiting currently available database technologies, scalable and predictable performance is demonstrated for both replication mechanisms among child PCEs and information retrieval from the stored databases. Thus, this proposal enables the sharing of intra-domain information at each cPCE that can be locally used, upon failure, to speed-up the recovery procedure

    APE Results of Hadron Masses in Full QCD Simulations

    We present numerical results obtained in full QCD with 2 flavors of Wilson fermions. We discuss the relation between the phase of Polyakov loops and the {\bf sea} quarks boundary conditions. We report preliminary results about the HMC autocorrelation of the hadronic masses, on a 163×3216^3 \times 32 lattice volume, at β=5.55\beta=5.55 with ksea=0.1570k_{sea}=0.1570.Comment: 3 pages, compressed ps-file (uufiles), Contribution to Lattice 9
