    A method for studying sequential faults on a three phase distribution transformer

    A method has been presented for studying sequential faults on opposite sides of a three-phase distribution transformer using the theory of symmetrical components and Alpha, Beta, and Zero components of three-phase systems. The effect of the faults on the distribution system has also been analyzed and improvements in the protection scheme suggested. The sequential faults occurred, one after the other, on the distribution system of the Central Electric Power Cooperative of Jefferson City in the state of Missouri resulting in a double unbalanced fault condition. The data used in the example problem has been supplied through the courtesy of the above Cooperative. The problem has been solved in three stages, namely, for a two line to ground fault, an open conductor and the resulting double fault conditions with grounded transformer as well as with the ungrounded transformer when the grounding wire of the transformer burns out --Abstract, page ii

    Neutrosophic Boolean Function and Rejection Sampling in Post Quantum Cryptography

    The use of random seeds to a deterministic random bit generator to generate uniform random sampling has been applied multiple times in post-quantum algorithms. The finalists Dilithium and Kyber use SHAKE and AES to generate the random sequence at multiple stages of the algorithm. Here we characterize one of the sampleing techniques available in Dilithium for a random sequence of length 256 with the help of the neutrosophic Boolean function. The idea of the neutrosophic Boolean function came from the theory of neutrosophy and it is useful to study any ternary distributions. We present the non-existence of neutrobalanced bent functions specifically with respect to the sampling named SampleInBall in Dilithium

    On Walsh Spectrum of Cryptographic Boolean Function

    Walsh transformation of a Boolean function ascertains a number of cryptographic properties of the Boolean function viz, non-linearity, bentness, regularity, correlation immunity and many more. The functions, for which the numerical value of Walsh spectrum is fixed, constitute a class of Boolean functions known as bent functions. Bent functions possess maximum possible non-linearity and therefore have a significant role in design of cryptographic systems. A number of generalisations of bent function in different domains have been proposed in the literature. General expression for Walsh transformation of generalised bent function (GBF) is derived. Using this condition, a set of Diophantine equations whose solvability is a necessary condition for the existence of GBF is also derived. Examples to demonstrate how these equations can be utilised to establish non-existence and regularity of GBFs is presented

    RISK FACTOR ASSESSMENT FOR ACNE VULGARIS IN HUMAN AND IMPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH INTERVENTIONS IN NORTH CENTRAL INDIA: A SURVEY-BASED STUDY

    Background: Acne vulgaris is a very common dermatological problem of adolescence since the time immemorial. However, it is neither life threatening nor is a physical disability, but acne affects social and psychological functioning. Acne vulgaris is multifactorial, apart from basic factor of hormonal change and bacterial outbreak; there are several other factors that may influence the prevalence of acne.Methods: In the present study, populations were assessed for influence of various factors on acne prevalence. This cross-sectional study was a population based field study intending to discern the factors that influence the prevalence of acne in adolescents. The study carried out from April 2016 to October 2016 in north central India. For this survey, questionnaires were design to cover all the required information regarding occurrence of acne that include factors like gender, age, skin type, complexion, season of occurrence, dietary habit etc.Results: Acne vulgaris appears to be influenced by gender, age, seasonal variations, breakout area, complexion, skin types and dietary habits. Further, the influence of dietary habit on acne, by the consumption of dairy products or high-carbon diet has also been evaluated. Apart from depicting the vulnerable range of age (p=0.003288), sensitivity on various skin types (p=0.00039) and complexion (p=0.001355) on the basis of gender; This Field study on Acne Vulgaris, also reveals that the season has inordinate role in acne pervasiveness (p=0.115731).Conclusion: This study is helpful in categorizing the risk factors and evidencing the afflictions of acne in population thus, contributing health care planning. Â

    Ocimum basilicum (O. basilicum) L. belongs to family Lamiaceae which comprises the most employed medicinal plants as a worldwide source of spices and also as a consolidated source of extracts. The phytochemical constituents of sweet basil essential oil have been investigated for several therapeutic importance from many regions of the world. They include terpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponin glycosides and ascorbic acid. These compounds have been reported to exhibit antibacterial and antifungal, antidyspepsia, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiulcer, antiviral, insecticidal, wound-healing etc. activities. The plant parts of O. basilicum have been widely used in preparation traditional medicine. The plants also been used as a folk remedy to treat various ailments such as feverish illness, poor digestion, nausea, abdominal cramps, gastro-enteritis, migraine, insomnia, depression, gonorrhea, dysentery etc. Externally, they have been applied for the treatment of acne, loss of smell, insect stings, snake bites and skin infections. The present review is aimed to cover the pharmacological investigations on this important medicinal herb.     Digitization of collecting mission data to enhance plant genetic resource management in maize (Zea mays) in India

    The data gathered on germplasm collection of maize evidently showed is a preliminary attempt on digitization of collecting mission data of maize genetic resources to enhance its use in plant genetic resource management in maize in India through quality passport data, eco-geographic location, availability of germplasm site description, geographic coordinates for crop improvement programme. Identification of collection sites located in distribution maps would allow: pinpointing of directed collection plans in under represented and identified sites that are rich in landraces/ trait-specific diversity. Since these sites are highly vulnerable to genetic erosion due to spread of hybrids/ genetically modified crops (GM), such areas need to be given special attention in genetic resource management. Broadly all maize growing areas have been surveyed in the past and diversity augmented from different parts of the country. However, based on gaps identified in the genebank holdings of trait specific germplasm and unique material needs to be augmented. Grouping of local cultivars/ landraces of maize based on geographical distribution, morphology, field and molecular characterization is a major challenge that needs special address by the maize breeders and users
