Protein Supplementation as Related to Sources of Protein for Growing-Finishing Lambs

    Get PDF
The objective of this study was to evaluate commercially available sources of supplemental protein in diets for growing and finishing lambs. Supplements were selected to differ in protein in diets for growing and finishing lambs. Supplements were selected to differ in protein solubility and amino acid profile and were expected to be degraded at different rates in the rumen to furnish protein post-ruminally varying in dietary and bacterial origin. If the principles concerning these parameters reported by other investigators would be applicable, response in terms of growth and feed utilization would be a measure of the value of the supplements for productive purposes

SVOM pointing strategy: how to optimize the redshift measurements?

The Sino-French SVOM mission (Space-based multi-band astronomical Variable Objects Monitor) has been designed to detect all known types of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and to provide fast and reliable GRB positions. In this study we present the SVOM pointing strategy which should ensure the largest number of localized bursts allowing a redshift measurement. The redshift measurement can only be performed by large telescopes located on Earth. The best scientific return will be achieved if we are able to combine constraints from both space segment (platform and payload) and ground telescopes (visibility).Comment: Proceedings of Gamma-Ray Bursts 2007 conference, Santa Fe, USA, 5-9 November 2007. Decoupling a Cooper-pair box to enhance the lifetime to 0.2 ms

We present a circuit QED experiment in which a separate transmission line is used to address a quasi-lumped element superconducting microwave resonator which is in turn coupled to an Al/AlOx_{x}/Al Cooper-pair box (CPB) charge qubit. In our measurements we find a strong correlation between the measured lifetime of the CPB and the coupling between the qubit and the transmission line. By monitoring perturbations of the resonator's 5.44 GHz resonant frequency, we have measured the spectrum, lifetime (T1T_{1}), Rabi, and Ramsey oscillations of the CPB at the charge degeneracy point while the CPB was detuned by up to 2.5 GHz . We find a maximum lifetime of the CPB was T1=200 μT_{1} = 200\ \mus for f=4f = 4 to 4.5 GHz. Our measured T1T_{1}'s are consistent with loss due to coupling to the transmission line, spurious microwave circuit resonances, and a background decay rate on the order of 5×1035\times 10^{3} s−1^{-1} of unknown origin, implying that the loss tangent in the AlOx_{x} junction barrier must be less than about 4×10−84\times 10^{-8} at 4.5 GHz, about 4 orders of magnitude less than reported in larger area Al/AlOx_{x}/Al tunnel junctions
