Minimal warm inflation with complete medium response
If a homogeneous field evolves within a medium, with the latter gradually
picking up a temperature, then the friction felt by the field depends on how
its evolution rate compares with medium time scales. We suggest a framework
which permits to incorporate the contributions from all medium time scales. As
an example, we illustrate how warm axion inflation can be described by
inputting the retarded pseudoscalar correlator of a thermal Yang-Mills plasma.
Adopting a semi-realistic model for the latter, and starting the evolution at
almost vanishing temperature, we show how the system heats up and then enters
the "weak" or "strong" regime of warm inflation. Previous approximate
treatments are scrutinized.Comment: 16 pages. v2: clarifications adde

Gravitational wave background from vacuum and thermal fluctuations during axion-like inflation
We revisit the framework of axion-like inflation in view of the possibility
that the coupling of the inflaton to a non-Abelian topological charge density
could lead to the generation of a rapidly thermalizing heat bath. Both
dispersive (mass) and absorptive (friction) effects are included. For
phenomenologically viable parameters, the system remains in a weak regime of
warm inflation (thermal friction Hubble rate). For tensor perturbations
we derive an interpolating formula that incorporates both vacuum and thermal
production. The latter yields a model-independent frequency shape
in the LISA window, whose coefficient allows to measure the maximal shear
viscosity of the thermal epoch. It is a challenge, however, to find models
where the coefficient is large enough to be observable.Comment: 32 pages. v2: clarifications adde

Trans-nasal endoscopic and intra-oral combined approach for odontogenic cysts
Maxillary cysts are a common finding in maxillofacial surgery, dentistry and otolaryngology. Treatment is surgical; a traditional approach includes Caldwell-Luc and other intra-oral approaches. In this article, we analyse the outcomes of 9 patients operated on using a combined intra-oral and trans-nasal approach to the aforementioned disease. Although the number of patients is small, the good results of this study suggest that the combined approach might be a reliable treatment option
Abstract polymer models with general pair interactions
A convergence criterion of cluster expansion is presented in the case of an
abstract polymer system with general pair interactions (i.e. not necessarily
hard core or repulsive). As a concrete example, the low temperature disordered
phase of the BEG model with infinite range interactions, decaying polynomially
as with , is studied.Comment: 19 pages. Corrected statement for the stability condition (2.3) and
modified section 3.1 of the proof of theorem 1 consistently with (2.3). Added
a reference and modified a sentence at the end of sec. 2.
Shape of the hot topological charge density spectral function
After motivating an interest in the shape of the topological charge density spectral function in hot Yang-Mills theories, we estimate it with the help of thermally averaged classical real-time simulations, for N-c = 2, 3. After subtracting a perturbative contribution at large frequencies, we observe a non-trivial shape at small frequencies (a dip rather than a peak), interpolating smoothly towards the sphaleron rate at zero frequency. Possible frequency scales making an appearance in this shape are discussed. Implications for warm axion inflation and reheating, and for imaginary-time lattice measurements of the strong sphaleron rate, are recapitulated.Peer reviewe
