The paper analyzes main indices (indicators of realization) of the State program on innovative development of the Republic of Belarus (SPIDRB), contains and justifies a hierarchical structure of data processing and display, finalizes a list of the SPIDRB participants and executors. Major functions of the units pertaining to automation of an automated SPIDRB monitoring system are determined in the paper. In order to accumulate, process and furnish information a system of documentary databases on the basis of IBM Lotus Domino/Notes 8, relational databases of IBM DB2 and MS SQL Server 2005 is used in the given paper. Interaction with data suppliers is ensured by means of e-mail. The proposed scientific principles and software allow to automate a process of SPIDRB monitoring and to raise a decision-making efficiency in the field of innovative economic development of our country.Проанализированы основные показатели (индикаторы реализации) Государственной программы инновационного развития Республики Беларусь (ГПИР РБ), изложена и обоснована иерархическая структура обработки и отображения информации, определен перечень участников и исполнителей ГПИР РБ. A Phenomenological Study of Career Anxiety Among College Students

    No full text
This study explored the phenomenon of career anxiety through a qualitative investigation of the experiences of 7 traditional-aged college students who were in various stages of their undergraduate degree programs. Using Moustakas\u27s () method of transcendental phenomenology, the authors conducted in-depth interviews to answer the following questions: (a) What are coresearchers’ (participants\u27) experiences with the phenomenon of career anxiety? and (b) In what contexts do the coresearchers experience career anxiety? Seven themes emerged: general symptoms of anxiety, existential concerns, pressure, lack of career guidance, cognitive distortions, social comparisons, and economic/occupational uncertainty. The findings provide a contextual and developmental perspective on career-related anxiety that can guide counselors in the implementation of interventions for reducing anxiety associated with career choice and development

Cell adhesion and growth on ultrananocrystalline diamond and diamond-like carbon films after different surface modifications

    No full text
Diamond and diamond-like carbon (DLC) films possess a set of excellent physical and chemical properties which together with a high biocompatibility make them attractive candidates for a number of medical and biotechnological applications. In the current work thin ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) and DLC films were comparatively investigated with respect to cell attachment and proliferation after different surface modifications. The UNCD films were prepared by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition, the DLC films by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The films were comprehensively characterized with respect to their basic properties, e.g. crystallinity, morphology, chemical bonding nature, etc. Afterwards the UNCD and DLC films were modified applying O2 or NH3/N2 plasmas and UV/O3 treatments to alter their surface termination. The surface composition of as-grown and modified samples was studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Furthermore the films were characterized by contact angle measurements with water, formamide, 1-decanol and diiodomethane; from the results obtained the surface energy with its dispersive and polar components was calculated. The adhesion and proliferation of MG63 osteosarcoma cells on the different UNCD and DLC samples were assessed by measurement of the cell attachment efficiency and MTT assays. The determined cell densities were compared and correlated with the surface properties of as-deposited and modified UNCD and DLC films.JRC.I.4-Nanobioscience

Dynamic Strain Aging Phenomena and Tensile Response of Medium-Mn TRIP Steel

    No full text
Dynamic strain aging (DSA) and rapid work hardening are typical behaviors observed in medium-Mn transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steel. Three alloys with manganese ranging from 10.2 to 13.8 wt pct with calculated room temperature stacking fault energies varying from − 2.1 to 0.7 mJ/m2 were investigated. Significant serrations were observed in the stress-strain behavior for two of the steels and the addition of 4.6 wt pct chromium was effective in significantly reducing the occurrence of DSA. Addition of chromium to the alloy reduced DSA by precipitation of M23(C,N)6 during batch annealing at 873 K (600 °C) for 20 hours. Three distinct DSA mechanisms were identified: one related to manganese ordering in stacking faults associated with γ-martensite and austenite interface, with activation energies for the onset and termination of DSA being 145 and 277 kJ/mol. A second mechanism was associated with carbon diffusion in γ-austenite where Mn-C bonding added to the total binding energy, and activation energies of 88 and 155 kJ/mol were measured for the onset and termination of DSA. A third mechanism was attributed to dislocation pinning and unpinning by nitrogen in α-ferrite with activation energies of 64 and 123 kJ/mol being identified. Tensile behaviors of the three medium manganese steels were studied in both the hot band and batch annealed after cold working conditions. Ultimate tensile strengths ranged from 1310 to 1404 MPa with total elongation of 24.1 to 34.1 pct. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to determine the transformation response of the steels using interrupted tensile tests at room temperature. All three of the processed steels showed evidence of two-stage TRIP where γ-austenite first transformed to ε-martensite, and subsequently transformed to α-martensite
