    Ytterbium-doped femtosecond solid-state lasers

    Get PDF

Advanced Technology in the Psychomotric Tenacity Study with Implications in Performance Sport

AbstractThe tenacity, regarding perseverance and persistence, is a very important psycho-motric quality for all sports, but mostly for combat sports. Being a quality from the volitive sphere, the measure can only be proven post factum. The indirect, correlative testing offers true information, using a tenacity index based on the solicitation of the excito- inhibitory processes of the palm flexor effort (amplitude, period, consistence, visual control of the oscillation etc.). Our research points out the fact that the tenacity index in significantly higher (300.14) for the right-handed athletes than for the left-handed ones or ambidextrous ones (259.62), at the significance threshold F < F critic (1,16<1,76)

EVALUATION OF THE BIOCHEMICAL ASPECTS OF DROUGHT TOLERANT NEW WHEAT LINES DURING SEEDLING AND EARLY GROWTH STAGES

21 wheat lines were investigated in the study, as well as 4 standard cultivars in order to evaluate biochemical indices that characterize the processes of growth and development of plants under drought conditions. The experiment was conducted at ARDS Simnic. Enzymatic activities of amylase, protease and phosphatase, reducing sugar, protein and proline content were determined at plant emergence and tillering stage. The obtained results indicate that all the investigated wheat lines are adapted to the ARDS Simnic conditions, thus recommending further testing for their selection in breding programs

COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN ROMANIAN AND FOREIGN WINTER WHEAT VARIETIES REGARDING YIELD POTENTIAL, DURING 2004-2011 PERIOD ON THE LUVOSOIL FROM SIMNIC

During eight years 2004-2011 have been tested over 100 wheat varieties withdifferent origin, on the luvosoil from ARDS Simnic. Data were calculated using t test to compare two series with different numbers. On average the Rumanian varieties obtained yield by 4310 kg/ha. In general the yield difference between Romanian and foreign wheat varieties was significant for the first group. Mainly the Romanian varieties were superior those coming from Austria, ex-soviet space, from USA, other countries of the EU (Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, U.K., Czech Republic, Portugal) and Israel showing significant yield differences. We did not find significant differences among Romanian and French, Hungarian or Serbian varieties. The highest average yield was recorded by Glosa (5504 kg/ha) and maximum yield was recorded by Gruia (8420 kg/ha), both Romanian varieties

Part One: Extracellular Vesicles as Valuable Players in Diabetic Cardiovascular Diseases

    Get PDF
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are particles released in the extracellular space from all cell types in physiological and pathological conditions and emerge as a new way of cell-cell communication by transferring their biological contents into target cells. The levels and composition of circulating EVs differ from a normal condition to a pathological one, making them real circulating biomarkers. EVs have a very complex contribution in both health and disease, most likely in relationship between diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The involvement of EVs to the development of cardiovascular complications in diabetes remains an open discussion for therapists. Circulating EVs may offer a continuous access path to circulating information on the disease state and a new perspective in finding a correct diagnosis, in estimating a prognosis and also in applying an effective therapy. Besides their role as biomarkers and targets for therapy, EVs can be exploited as biological tools in influencing the different processes affected in diabetic cardiovascular diseases. This chapter will summarize the current knowledge about EVs as biological vectors modulating diabetic cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, and peripheral arterial disease. Finally, we will point out EVs’ considerable value as clinical biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and potential biomedical tools for the discovery of effective therapy in diabetic cardiovascular diseases
