Phenotypic indicators to identify methionine rich European grain legumes and the correlation of grain methionine contents with the sulphur supply
Home grown legumes are a valuable protein source for pure on-farm diets for livestock in organic farming. Whereas protein of Glycine max naturally has higher contents of methionine nand also lysine typical European grain legumes (Pisum sativum L., Vicia faba L., Lupinus angustifolius L.) used in organic farms as component of animal food are relatively low in those amino acids
Quantum Decoherence of Two Qubits
It is commonly stated that decoherence in open quantum systems is due to
growing entanglement with an environment. In practice, however, surprisingly
often decoherence may equally well be described by random unitary dynamics
without invoking a quantum environment at all. For a single qubit, for
instance, pure decoherence (or phase damping) is always of random unitary type.
Here, we construct a simple example of true quantum decoherence of two qubits:
we present a feasible phase damping channel of which we show that it cannot be
understood in terms of random unitary dynamics. We give a very intuitive
geometrical measure for the positive distance of our channel to the convex set
of random unitary channels and find remarkable agreement with the so-called
Birkhoff defect based on the norm of complete boundedness.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
M\"ossbauer, nuclear inelastic scattering and density functional studies on the second metastable state of Na2[Fe(CN)5NO]2H2O
The structure of the light-induced metastable state SII of
Na2[Fe(CN)5NO]2H2O 14 was investigated by transmission M\"ossbauer
spectroscopy (TMS) in the temperature range 15 between 85 and 135 K, nuclear
inelastic scattering (NIS) at 98 K using synchrotron 16 radiation and density
functional theory (DFT) calculations. The DFT and TMS results 17 strongly
support the view that the NO group in SII takes a side-on molecular orientation
18 and, further, is dynamically displaced from one eclipsed, via a staggered,
to a second 19 eclipsed orientation. The population conditions for generating
SII are optimal for 20 measurements by TMS, yet they are modest for
accumulating NIS spectra. Optimization 21 of population conditions for NIS
measurements is discussed and new NIS experiments on 22 SII are proposed
All Teleportation and Dense Coding Schemes
We establish a one-to-one correspondence between (1) quantum teleportation
schemes, (2) dense coding schemes, (3) orthonormal bases of maximally entangled
vectors, (4) orthonormal bases of unitary operators with respect to the
Hilbert-Schmidt scalar product, and (5) depolarizing operations, whose Kraus
operators can be chosen to be unitary. The teleportation and dense coding
schemes are assumed to be ``tight'' in the sense that all Hilbert spaces
involved have the same finite dimension d, and the classical channel involved
distinguishes d^2 signals. A general construction procedure for orthonormal
bases of unitaries, involving Latin Squares and complex Hadamard Matrices is
also presented.Comment: 21 pages, LaTe
Nuclear Resonance Vibrational Spectroscopy of Iron Sulfur Proteins
Nuclear inelastic scattering in conjunction with density functional theory
(DFT) calculations has been applied for the identification of vibrational modes
of the high-spin ferric and the high-spin ferrous iron-sulfur center of a
rubredoxin-type protein from the thermophylic bacterium Pyrococcus abysii
Indirekte Selektionmethoden auf Methioninreichtum des Samenproteins bei heimischen Leguminosen
While grain legumes can be regarded as highly valuable protein sources for animal nutrition, ceratin drawbacks inhibit their use as sole foodstuff for livestock. The nutrient quality is reduced by low concentrations of tryptophan and sulfur amino acids
Measuring processes and the Heisenberg picture
In this paper, we attempt to establish quantum measurement theory in the
Heisenberg picture. First, we review foundations of quantum measurement theory,
that is usually based on the Schr\"{o}dinger picture. The concept of instrument
is introduced there. Next, we define the concept of system of measurement
correlations and that of measuring process. The former is the exact counterpart
of instrument in the (generalized) Heisenberg picture. In quantum mechanical
systems, we then show a one-to-one correspondence between systems of
measurement correlations and measuring processes up to complete equivalence.
This is nothing but a unitary dilation theorem of systems of measurement
correlations. Furthermore, from the viewpoint of the statistical approach to
quantum measurement theory, we focus on the extendability of instruments to
systems of measurement correlations. It is shown that all completely positive
(CP) instruments are extended into systems of measurement correlations. Lastly,
we study the approximate realizability of CP instruments by measuring processes
within arbitrarily given error limits.Comment: v
Gaussian Quantum Information
The science of quantum information has arisen over the last two decades
centered on the manipulation of individual quanta of information, known as
quantum bits or qubits. Quantum computers, quantum cryptography and quantum
teleportation are among the most celebrated ideas that have emerged from this
new field. It was realized later on that using continuous-variable quantum
information carriers, instead of qubits, constitutes an extremely powerful
alternative approach to quantum information processing. This review focuses on
continuous-variable quantum information processes that rely on any combination
of Gaussian states, Gaussian operations, and Gaussian measurements.
Interestingly, such a restriction to the Gaussian realm comes with various
benefits, since on the theoretical side, simple analytical tools are available
and, on the experimental side, optical components effecting Gaussian processes
are readily available in the laboratory. Yet, Gaussian quantum information
processing opens the way to a wide variety of tasks and applications, including
quantum communication, quantum cryptography, quantum computation, quantum
teleportation, and quantum state and channel discrimination. This review
reports on the state of the art in this field, ranging from the basic
theoretical tools and landmark experimental realizations to the most recent
successful developments.Comment: 51 pages, 7 figures, submitted to Reviews of Modern Physic
