Three-dimensional Dirac oscillator in a thermal bath
The thermal properties of the three-dimensional Dirac oscillator are
considered. The canonical partition function is determined, and the
high-temperature limit is assessed. The degeneracy of energy levels and their
physical implications on the main thermodynamic functions are analyzed,
revealing that these functions assume values greater than the one-dimensional
case. So that at high temperatures, the limit value of the specific heat is
three times bigger.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures. Text improved, references added. Revised to match

Relation Discovery from Web Data for Competency Management
This paper describes a technique for automatically discovering associations between people and expertise from an analysis of very large data sources (including web pages, blogs and emails), using a family of algorithms that perform accurate named-entity recognition, assign different weights to terms according to an analysis of document structure, and access distances between terms in a document. My contribution is to add a social networking approach called BuddyFinder which relies on associations within a large enterprise-wide "buddy list" to help delimit the search space and also to provide a form of 'social triangulation' whereby the system can discover documents from your colleagues that contain pertinent information about you. This work has been influential in the information retrieval community generally, as it is the basis of a landmark system that achieved overall first place in every category in the Enterprise Search Track of TREC2006
Visser's Massive Gravity Bimetric Theory Revisited
A massive gravity theory was proposed by Visser in the late nineties. This
theory, based on a backgroung metric and on an usual
dynamical metric has the advantage of being free of ghosts
as well as discontinuities present in other massive theories proposed in the
past. In the present investigation, the equations of Visser's theory are
revisited with a particular care on the related conservation laws.\ It will be
shown that a multiplicative factor is missing in the graviton tensor originally
derived by Visser, which has no incidence on the weak field approach but
becomes important in the strong field regime when, for instance, cosmological
applications are considered. In this case, contrary to some previous claims
found in the literature, we conclude that a non-static background metric is
required in order to obtain a solution able to mimic the CDM
cosmology.Comment: 10 pages - Accepted for publication in Physical Review
Conformal transformation in bowtie nanoantennas and nanocavities: unveiling hidden symmetries
In this work, bowtie nanoantennas and nanocavities are analyzed using the conformal transformation technique. Their performance is studied in terms of the non-radiative Purcell enhancement and self-induced optical forces experienced by quantum emitters. It is demonstrated how these two geometrically different plasmonic nanoparticles can share the same non-radiative Purcell spectra. This hidden symmetric response is unveiled by properly applying the conformal transformation technique, demonstrating that both nanoparticles share the same transformed geometry
Impact of plasmonic bowtie nanoantennas and nanocavities on the dynamics of nearby nanoemitters
Metallic nanoparticles exert a strong influence on the electrodynamics and mechanical dynamics of nanoemitters in their vicinity. Transformation optics can provide analytical descriptions and physical insight on these scenarios. As a case of study, we discuss the use of conformal transformation to understand the nonradiative Purcell enhancement and the optical forces experienced by nanoemitters nearby bowtie nanocavities and nanoantennas
