Probing dark energy beyond with CODEX
Precision measurements of nature's fundamental couplings and a first
measurement of the cosmological redshift drift are two of the key targets for
future high-resolution ultra-stable spectrographs such as CODEX. Being able to
do both gives CODEX a unique advantage, allowing it to probe dynamical dark
energy models (by measuring the behavior of their equation of state) deep in
the matter era and thereby testing classes of models that would otherwise be
difficult to distinguish from the standard CDM paradigm. We illustrate
this point with two simple case studies.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures; submitted to Phys. Rev.
New global tourism innovation in a post-coronavirus era
World capitalism has become capitalism of abundance, but decadent capitalism. Today's capitalism is potentially destructive of the planet on which we live. This text seeks to highlight some of the irrationalities underlying this destructive potential, taking the relation between tourism and innovation as a paradigmatic example. The conceptual, political and operational articulation of tourism with innovation is not an easy task to accomplish, and there are many misunderstandings to block its desired symbiosis. It is also quite clear that innovation, namely that which is mediated and valued solely by market and economic and financial performance criteria, induces production and consumption that have contributed to climate change and levels of unsustainability of the planet. This text has three objectives: to requalify the role of innovation in capitalist society, to reconceptualize the relationship between tourism and innovation and to identify some challenges that will test this relationship in the post-COVID-19 era.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Temperature dependence of the coercive field in single-domain particle systems
The magnetic properties of Cu97Co3 and Cu90Co10 granular alloys were measured
over a wide temperature range (2 to 300K). The measurements show an unusual
temperature dependence of the coercive field. A generalized model is proposed
and explains well the experimental behavior over a wide temperature range. The
coexistence of blocked and unblocked particles for a given temperature rises
difficulties that are solved here by introducing a temperature dependent
blocking temperature. An empirical factor gamma arise from the model and is
directly related to the particle interactions. The proposed generalized model
describes well the experimental results and can be applied to other
single-domain particle system.Comment: 7 pages, 8 figures, revised version, accepted to Physical Review B on

Electronic state spectroscopy of C2Cl4
The VUV spectrum of C2Cl4 is reported in the energy range 3.8-10.8 eV (325-115 nm). Several photoabsorption features are observed for the first time, including a very weak low-lying band which is provisionally attributed to a π → π* triplet transition. Recent ab initio calculations of the molecule’s electronic transitions [Arulmozhiraja et al. J. Chem. Phys. 129 (2008) 174506] provide the basis for the present assignments below 8.5 eV. An extended ndπ series is proposed to account for several higher-energy Rydberg bands. The identification of vibrational structure, dominated by symmetric C=C and CCl2 stretching in excitations from the HOMO, largely agrees with previous spectroscopic studies. The present absolute photoabsorption cross sections cover a wider energy range than the previous measurements and are used to calculate UV photolysis lifetimes of this aeronomic molecule at altitudes between 20 and 50 km

Electroencefalograma Interictal.

The impact of the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal on the local economy
Acresce a forte
