Quantum Double Models coupled with matter: an algebraic dualisation approach

In this paper, we constructed a new generalization of a class of discrete bidimensional models, the so called Quantum Double Models, by introduce matter qunits to the faces of the lattice that supports these models. This new generalization can be interpreted as the algebraic dual of a first, where we introduce matter qunits to the vertices of this same lattice. By evaluating the algebraic and topological orders of these new models, we prove that, as in the first generalization, a new phenomenon of quasiparticle confinement may appear again: this happens when the co-action homomorphism between matter and gauge groups is non-trivial. Consequently, this homomorphism not only classifies the different models that belong to this new class, but also suggests that they can be interpreted as a 2-dimensional restriction of the 2-lattice gauge theories.Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures; submitted to publicatio

Com o propósito de compreender o renovado interesse pela socialização política nos contextos europeu e português, procurámos reconhecer os dispositivos e referências nos quais os actores sociais se suportam para perfazer as suas avaliações e julgamentos críticos quanto às formas de melhor educar as crianças em sociedade tendo em conta os interesses do bem comum. Estes julgamentos, não são arbitrários ou relativizantes, mas manifestam a observância de um determinado requisito de obrigações (convenções), para assim se poderem apresentar publicamente como legítimos. Como tal, eles organizam-se em gramáticas de socialização política, as quais são também o produto da elaboração teórica de filósofos e educadores

An assessment of contact and laser-based scanning of rock particles for railway ballast

Performance of traditional railway structure depends significantly on the behaviour of its support layers, particularly the ballast. This layer’s rock particles are selected to ensure high mechanical strength, but traffic and mechanical maintenance break and wear the particles. Consequently, the layer incurs permanent deformations that degrade its strength and increase deformability and permeability. Particle physical characteristics, in particular those related to size and shape, influence their fragmentation and wear and must be studied accordingly. In addition, structural numerical models that represent individual particles, such as the discrete element method, have been increasingly used to model the infrastructure and therefore detailed geometrical characterization in the form of 3D digital models of the particles are necessary. This work contributes to this goal by investigating a contact-based cost-effective method that digitizes particle form and allows the determination of their geometric parameters. Timing embryo segmentation: dynamics and regulatory mechanisms of the vertebrate segmentation clock

All vertebrate species present a segmented body, easily observed in the vertebrate column and its associated components, which provides a high degree of motility to the adult body and efficient protection of the internal organs. The sequential formation of the segmented precursors of the vertebral column during embryonic development, the somites, is governed by an oscillating genetic network, the somitogenesis molecular clock. Herein, we provide an overview of the molecular clock operating during somite formation and its underlying molecular regulatory mechanisms. Human congenital vertebral malformations have been associated with perturbations in these oscillatory mechanisms. Efeito do manejo da irrigação por aspersão sobre a emergência de milho em diferentes solos.

Uma das limitacoes no estabelecimento do estande inicial da cultura do milho irrigado tem sido a aplicacao de agua de forma inadequada nesse periodo. Em determinados solos, esse problema e mais grave, principalmente naqueles que tem tendencia a formar crosta superficial, em razao do impacto das gotas da agua de irrigação ou de chuva. Foram avaliados diferentes criterios de manejo de irrigacao por aspersao sobre a emergencia de plantulas de milho em tres solos: Latossolo Vermelho-Escuro (LE), de Sete Lagoas (MG); Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo (LV) e solo Aluvial, ambos de Janauba (MG). Os tratamentos basearam-se em diferentes criterios de reposicao de agua ao solo: (a) segundo a evaporacao da agua do solo (em frequencia de um, dois, tres, seis ou 12 dias); (b) com ou sem umedecimento ate a capacidade de campo (CC) para atingir 0,20 m do perfil do solo, e (c) irrigacao antes (somente no solo Aluvial) ou no dia da semeadura. O criterio do manejo de irrigacao que estabeleceu uma irrigacao no dia da semeadura e irrigacoes posteriores com frequencia de 12 dias afetou o percentual de emergencia das plantulas nos solos LE (74%) e LV (43%). No aluvial, o criterio que beneficiou, de modo significativo, o percentual de emergencia (82%) foi o que determinou a aplicacao de uma lamina de agua dois dias antes da semeadura para umedecer o solo ate a CC em 0-20 cm do perfil e com irrigacoes subsequentes diarias a partir do dia da semeadura com laminas correspondentes a evoporacao da agua do solo
