    Trabajo académicoEl objetivo del estudio es determinar la relación entre la preoxigenación subóptima y la morbimortalidad en pacientes con manejo de vía aérea en el servicio de emergencia del Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza en el 2018. Para ello se plantea un estudio observacional, analítico y prospectivo; la muestra estará constituida por 90 pacientes con manejo de vía aérea en el servicio de emergencia del Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza durante el periodo julio – diciembre de 2018. La técnica de recolección será observación y el instrumento será una ficha de recolección y una lista de verificación. El análisis de los datos se realizará en el programa estadístico Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) versión 23. Para la relación entre la preoxigenación subóptima y morbilidad /mortalidad se aplicará la prueba Chi-Cuadrado, considerando un nivel de significancia del 5%. Es importante y relevante desarrollar el estudio ya que permitirá un mayor conocimiento sobre el manejo más adecuado de las vías aéreas en pacientes atendidos en el servicio de emergencia del Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza

    Detecting circumbinary planets using eclipse timing of binary stars - numerical simulations

    The presence of a body in an orbit around a close eclipsing binary star manifests itself through the light time effect influencing the observed times of eclipses as the close binary and the circumbinary companion both move around the common centre of mass. This fact combined with the periodicity with which the eclipses occur can be used to detect the companion. Given a sufficient precision of the times of eclipses, the eclipse timing can be employed to detect substellar or even planetary mass companions. The main goal of the paper is to investigate the potential of the photometry based eclipse timing of binary stars as a method of detecting circumbinary planets. In the models we assume that the companion orbits a binary star in a circular Keplerian orbit. We analyze both the space and ground based photometry cases. In particular, we study the usefulness of the on-going COROT and Kepler missions in detecting circumbinary planets. We also explore the relations binding the planet discovery space with the physical parameters of the binaries and the geometrical parameters of their light curves. We carry out detailed numerical simulations of the eclipse timing by employing a relatively realistic model of the light curves of eclipsing binary stars. We study the influence of the white and red photometric noises on the timing precision. We determine the sensitivity of the eclipse timing technique to circumbinary planets for the ground and space based photometric observations. We provide suggestions for the best targets, observing strategies and instruments for the eclipse timing method. Finally, we compare the eclipse timing as a planet detection method with the radial velocities and astrometry.Comment: 9 pages, 15 figures, accepted for publication in MNRA

    CoRoT's first seven planets: An overview

    The up to 150 day uninterrupted high-precision photometry of about 100000 stars - provided so far by the exoplanet channel of the CoRoT space telescope - gave a new perspective on the planet population of our galactic neighbourhood. The seven planets with very accurate parameters widen the range of known planet properties in almost any respect. Giant planets have been detected at low metallicity, rapidly rotating and active, spotted stars. CoRoT-3 populated the brown dwarf desert and closed the gap of measured physical properties between standard giant planets and very low mass stars. CoRoT extended the known range of planet masses down to 5 Earth masses and up to 21 Jupiter masses, the radii to less than 2 Earth radii and up to the most inflated hot Jupiter found so far, and the periods of planets discovered by transits to 9 days. Two CoRoT planets have host stars with the lowest content of heavy elements known to show a transit hinting towards a different planet-host-star-metallicity relation then the one found by radial-velocity search programs. Finally the properties of the CoRoT-7b prove that terrestrial planets with a density close to Earth exist outside the Solar System. The detection of the secondary transit of CoRoT-1 at the 10510^{-5}-level and the very clear detection of the 1.7 Earth radii of CoRoT-7b at 3.51043.5 10^{-4} relative flux are promising evidence of CoRoT being able to detect even smaller, Earth sized planets.Comment: 8 pages, 19 figures and 3 table

The paper describes a possible realization of such a model, that is quite simple and in spite of its simplicity makes it possible to simulate the properties of ideal CPEs. The paper also deals with the effect of component tolerances on the resultant responses of the model and describes several typical model applications

    Where are the Uranus Trojans?

    The area of stable motion for fictitious Trojan asteroids around Uranus' equilateral equilibrium points is investigated with respect to the inclination of the asteroid's orbit to determine the size of the regions and their shape. For this task we used the results of extensive numerical integrations of orbits for a grid of initial conditions around the points L4 and L5, and analyzed the stability of the individual orbits. Our basic dynamical model was the Outer Solar System (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune). We integrated the equations of motion of fictitious Trojans in the vicinity of the stable equilibrium points for selected orbits up to the age of the Solar system of 5 billion years. One experiment has been undertaken for cuts through the Lagrange points for fixed values of the inclinations, while the semimajor axes were varied. The extension of the stable region with respect to the initial semimajor axis lies between 19.05 < a < 19.3 AU but depends on the initial inclination. In another run the inclination of the asteroids' orbit was varied in the range 0 < i < 60 and the semimajor axes were fixed. It turned out that only four 'windows' of stable orbits survive: these are the orbits for the initial inclinations 0 < i < 7, 9 < i < 13, 31 < i < 36 and 38 < i < 50. We postulate the existence of at least some Trojans around the Uranus Lagrange points for the stability window at small and also high inclinations.Comment: 15 pages, 12 figures, submitted to CMD
