    Development of Pratylenchus Coffeae in Biochar Applied Soil, Coffee Roots and Its Effect on Plant Growth

    Biochar improve physical, chemical and biological properties of soil. It may also be used as botanical pesticides. The experiment was aimed to determine the effect of biochar on population development of parasitic nematode Pratylenchus coffeae. The experiment was carried out in Nematology Laboratory and in a greenhouse of Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute (ICCRI), Jember, Indonesia. The experiment was arranged according to completely randomized design with six treatments of biochar concentrations, i.e. 4%; 3%; 2%; 1%; 0.5% and 0% dry weight of soil. Research results revealed that biochar application of 4.0% was effectively killed 74.5% of P. coffeae, while the lowest mortality level of 37.5% at biochar 0.5% treatment. In the greenhouse trial, application of biochar 4.0% was the most effective in suppressing the population of parasitic nematode in coffee seedlings. Application of biochar was also able to increase the growth and biomass of coffee seedlings

    Land Suitability Evaluation for Horticultural Commodities at the West Part of Upland Lawu

    This research is about to examine the site-suitability of horticultural plantation at the west part of Lawu. The research was conducted through a survey upon the cultivated horticultural commodities by comparing their agronomic prerequisite with measured climatic conditions and land performances. The research shows that the most critical determinant for the performed horticultural cultivation is the slope of the landscape. Hence, horticultural cultivation activities must emphasize for not to ignore the importance of standing crop and slopeland's management

    Permasalahan dari penelitian desktiptif ini adalah masih rendahnya kemampuan analisis mahasiswa semester tiga prodi pendidikan bahasa inggris Universitas Pasir Pengaraian dalam mengidentfikasi pesan moral di sebuah cerita naratif. Hal ini bisa saja terjadi diakibatkan karena kurangnya frekuensi dan latihan yang diberikan kepada mahasiswa untuk hal tersebut. Dari hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa tidak semua dari mahasiswa tersebut memiliki kemampuan mengidentifikasi pesan moral dalam sebuah cerita naratif yang bagus. Hal ini dikarenakan oleh beberapa hal diantaranya kurangnya latihan maupun sulitnya mahasiswa tersebut untuk memahami isi dan makna cerita

    Peningkatan Kemampuan Menulis Deskripsi dengan Menggunakan Media Kartu Kuartet di Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar

    Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan wawancara dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia pada menulis deskripsi yang dilakukan di Kelas IV berjalan kurang optimal. Dari hasil pembelajaran menulis deskripsi yang diberikan oleh guru kelas menunjukkan sebanyak 60% dari 33 siswa belum memenuhi KKM. Permasalahan tersebut disebabkan oleh dalam penyampaian materi tidak menggunakan media. Oleh karena itu, peneliti melaksanakan penelitian tindakan kelas untuk memperbaiki pembelajaran menulis deskripsi dengan menggunakan media kartu kuartet. Prosedur pelaksanaan penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang meliputi tiga tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan pengamatan, dan refleksi. Data penelitian diperoleh dari observasi, tes hasil belajar, dan catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran mengalami peningkatan. Pada Siklus I aktivitas guru memperoleh persentase 100% dengan skor ketercapaian pada pertemuan ke-1 sebesar 77,8 dan 79,2 pada pertemuan ke-2. Sedangkan pada Siklus II keterlaksanaan aktivitas guru memperoleh persentase 100% dengan skor ketercapaian pertemuan ke-1 sebesar 91,7 dan 95,8 pada pertemuan ke-2. Untuk hasil belajar menulis deskripsi juga mengalami peningkatan, yaitu pada siklus I rata-rata hasil belajar siswa sebesar 69,97 dengan ketuntasan klasikal 69,7% dan Siklus II sebesar 81,2 dengan ketuntasan klasikal 84,8%. Kendala yang muncul dalam pembelajaran pada Siklus I di antaranya: suara guru kurang keras, guru kurang menguasai kelas, siswa berebut kartu kuartet, dan penjelasan materi yang disampaikan oleh guru kurang jelas. Sedangkan pada Siklus II sudah tidak ditemukan kendala yang berarti. Untuk itu, media kartu kuartet cocok digunakan dalam menulis deskripsi, karena terbukti dapat meningkatkan pembelajaran

    The survey research was conducted to investigate disease grouping which spred among governmental grat goat in desa Petaling Jaya. Thirty six farmers which owned 304 heads were used as respondent. Data collected were disease groups according to spreading into goat and diseases which were found during research time. The result indicated that al of the farmers (100%) reported that their goat had spred by scabies, 100 % worm, milk production problem (100%), 16 respondents (44.4%) feed consuption problem and 5 respondents (14%) swollen disease. However, there were only 4 kinds of diseases which caused goat death such as scabies, milk production problem, feed consumption problem and swollen disease. From the result we concluded that there were 4 kinds of diseases which were spred into goat in that region such as scabies, worm, milk production problem and feed consumption problem
