Global Linear Complexity Analysis of Filter Keystream Generators
An efficient algorithm for computing lower bounds on the global linear
complexity of nonlinearly filtered PN-sequences is presented. The technique
here developed is based exclusively on the realization of bit wise logic
operations, which makes it appropriate for both software simulation and
hardware implementation. The present algorithm can be applied to any arbitrary
nonlinear function with a unique term of maximum order. Thus, the extent of its
application for different types of filter generators is quite broad.
Furthermore, emphasis is on the large lower bounds obtained that confirm the
exponential growth of the global linear complexity for the class of nonlinearly
filtered sequences
Innovative all composite multi-pultrusion truss system for stressed arch deployable shelters
Trusses are one of the successful structural forms that have been utilised, at extended scale, since the nineteen century. Fibre composite materials are relatively new to civil engineering applications. The increased interest in using composites in civil applications can be attributed to advantages when compared to other construction materials that offset their associated costs. Using conventional approaches for truss systems in composite materials can undermine their efficiency. This is mainly due to concentration of stresses at connections which usually govern the truss design.
The Military Modular Shelter System (M2S2) initiative is a research project that aims to develop a fibre composite re-deployable arched shelter system with rigid PVC or fabric cladding. The main frames are formed from modular fibre composite panels that are connected and stressed into position by prestressing cables. Different geometries can be obtained using this system by changing the number of panels per frame and the packer sizes between panels.
This paper presents the development and testing of innovative fibre composite truss modules that were investigated as part of this project. The truss system is based on using multi-pultrusion sections for the chord and vertical members. Truss bracing is provided by a double skin laminated web. This structure offers many advantages including semi-ductile failure that occurred outside the joint area and ease of manufacturing. In spite of being developed for the M2S2 system, the concept is similarly applicable as a general purpose truss system

Social and emotional processing in Prader-Willi syndrome: genetic subtype differences
BACKGROUND: People with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) demonstrate social dysfunction and increased risk of autism spectrum disorder, especially those with the maternal uniparental disomy (mUPD) versus paternal deletion genetic subtype. This study compared the neural processing of social (faces) and nonsocial stimuli, varying in emotional valence, across genetic subtypes in 24 adolescents and adults with PWS. METHODS: Upright and inverted faces, and nonsocial objects with positive and negative emotional valence were presented to participants with PWS in an oddball paradigm with smiling faces serving as targets. Behavioral and event-related potential (ERP) data were recorded. RESULTS: There were no genetic subtype group differences in accuracy, and all participants performed above chance level. ERP responses revealed genetic subtype differences in face versus object processing. In those with deletions, the face-specific posterior N170 response varied in size for face stimuli versus inverted faces versus nonsocial objects. Persons with mUPD generated N170 of smaller amplitude and showed no stimulus differentiation. Brain responses to emotional content did not vary by subtype. All participants elicited larger posterior and anterior late positive potential responses to positive objects than to negative objects. Emotion-related differences in response to faces were limited to inverted faces only in the form of larger anterior late positive potential amplitudes to negative emotions over the right hemisphere. Detection of the target smiling faces was evident in the increased amplitude of the frontal and central P3 responses but only for inverted smiling faces. CONCLUSION: Persons with the mUPD subtype of PWS may show atypical face versus object processes, yet both subtypes demonstrated potentially altered processing, attention to and/or recognition of faces and their expressions
Magnetic coupling properties of rare-earth metals (Gd, Nd) doped ZnO: first-principles calculations
The electronic structure and magnetic coupling properties of rare-earth
metals (Gd, Nd) doped ZnO have been investigated using first-principles
methods. We show that the magnetic coupling between Gd or Nd ions in the
nearest neighbor sites is ferromagnetic. The stability of the ferromagnetic
coupling between Gd ions can be enhanced by appropriate electron doping into
ZnO:Gd system and the room-temperature ferromagnetism can be achieved. However,
for ZnO:Nd system, the ferromagnetism between Nd ions can be enhanced by
appropriate holes doping into the sample. The room-temperature ferromagnetism
can also be achieved in the \emph{n}-conducting ZnO:Nd sample. Our calculated
results are in good agreement with the conclusions of the recent experiments.
The effect of native defects (V, V) on the

MANAGING MANURE TO IMPROVE AIR AND WATER QUALITY
Animal waste from confined animal feeding operations is a potential source of air and water quality degradation from evaporation of gases, runoff to surface water, and leaching to ground water. This report assesses the potential economic and environmental tradeoffs between water quality policies and air quality policies that require the animal agriculture sector to take potentially costly measures to abate pollution. A farm-level analysis of hog farms estimates the economic and environmental tradeoffs that occur when policies are designed to address pollutant flows to one environmental medium without considering flows to another medium. A national analysis addresses the broader impacts of coordinated (water and air) policies, including long-term structural adjustments and welfare impacts on both producers and consumers. The report also analyzes the potential implications of adding air quality regulations to existing Clean Water Act regulations in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, where a limited land base increases producers' costs of meeting manure management requirements.animal waste, nitrogen, ammonia, water quality, nutrient management plan, manure management costs, price and quantity adjustments, CAFO, Environmental Economics and Policy, Livestock Production/Industries,
