    A novel hybrid optimization methodology to optimize the total number and placement of wind turbines

    Due to increasing penetration of wind energy in the recent times, wind farmers tend to generate increasing amount of energy out of wind farms. In order to achieve the target, many wind farms are operated with a layout design of numerous turbines placed close to each other in a limited land area leading to greater energy losses due to ‘wake effects’. Moreover, these turbines need to satisfy many other constraints such as topological constraints, minimum allowable capacity factors, inter-turbine distances, noise constraints etc. Thus, the problem of placing wind turbines in a farm to maximize the overall produced energy while satisfying all constraints is highly constrained and complex. Existing methods to solve the turbine placement problem typically assume knowledge about the total number of turbines to be placed in the farm. However, in reality, wind farm developers often have little or no information about the best number of turbines to be placed in a farm. This study proposes a novel hybrid optimization methodology to simultaneously determine the optimum total number of turbines to be placed in a wind farm along with their optimal locations. The proposed hybrid methodology is a combination of probabilistic genetic algorithms and deterministic gradient based optimization methods. Application of the proposed method on representative case studies yields higher Annual Energy Production (AEP) than the results found by using two of the existing methods

    Literature Review: Learning Through Game-Based Technology Enhances Cognitive Skills

    Purpose: The goal of this study was to determine that video games can have a variety of effects on players, including improving working memory, cognitive flexibility, planning, spatial memory, emotions, and recognition through Digital Game-Based Learning   Theoretical framework: Recent research has indicated positive outcomes for student performance and engagement in digital gaming in education with a significant impact on intrinsic motivation, game mechanics, and the learning process as a whole, with scientifically confirmed favourable consequences. DGBL is a recent creation, thus there is still a lot to research and discover about it.   Design/methodology/approach: This study's objective was to gather and evaluate all empirical studies on improving cognitive abilities through game technology that had been published between 2000 and 2023. The author discusses a number of earlier research to investigate how game-based learning affects the growth of cognitive skills. 75 journal articles and 10 conference papers are examined by the author. The author also looks at three books about game-based learning. The author condenses his investigations into 58 articles by contrasting the various research gaps and approaches. The 58 articles included in this study were chosen from 30 reputable journals and provided trustworthy information as well as empirical evidence for further examination of the results of the 58 studies. These papers all drew their information from reliable sources with high indexes.   Findings: According to the findings of this study, game-based learning should become an important tool and e-resource for future learning in universities, particularly in academic libraries. This research backs up previous findings that game based will play an important role in learning in the future.   Research, Practical & Social implications:  We Suggest that more studies on game-based learning need to be conducted in the future to produce an effective learning environment based on credible frameworks and ideas.   Originality/value: The results indicate that the number of publications is growing and a consistent research framework and procedures for conducting reliable video game research must be developed. When arbitrary information is necessary to advance toward the objective of the game; the context in which the game is used. The study conclusions may be used as a general guideline to create a game-based technology model by indulging all the game elements and through that game-based technology the user will be tested to understand the enhancement of cognitive ability. This study may present the reader with further intriguing study subjects

    Transient isomerisation and inverse electronic relaxation of infrared multiple-photon excited Pentafluoropyridine

    Pentafluoropyridine (PFP) undergoes fast structural isomerisation to fulvenes when irradiated with 9R(16) CO2 laser line in the fluence range 0.5-1.5 J/cm2. The unstable fulvenes slowly decay back to PFP in ms time scale. No detectable permanent dissociation of PFP was observed in the above low fluence experiments. However, by using focused CO2 laser beam for the irradiation of PFP, an emission of light in the visible/near-UV was observed. The time evolution of the luminescence reveals three peaks at 390, 460 and 500 nm on a broad background emission of 300-680 nm. These bands are assigned to the fluorescence of PFP via inverse electronic relaxation (IER) and C2 Swan bands. On prolonged irradiation of PFP in focused condition a small extent of permanent dissociation was observed with the major products as C2F4, a sooty yellow deposit and another compound presumed to be Dewar PFP

    Steady state absorption and fluorescence as well as the time resolved absorption studies in the pico and subpicosecond time domain have been performed to characterize the excited singlet and triplet states of Michler's ketone (MK). The nature of the lowest excited singlet (S1) and triplet (T1) states depends on the polarity of the solvent - in nonpolar solvents they have either pure nπ∗ character or mixed character of π ∗ and π π ∗ states but in more polar solvents the states have CT character. Concentration dependence of the shapes of the fluorescence as well the excited singlet and triplet absorption spectra provide the evidence for the association of the MK molecules in the ground state
