Implicit dose-response curves

We develop tools from computational algebraic geometry for the study of steady state features of autonomous polynomial dynamical systems via elimination of variables. In particular, we obtain nontrivial bounds for the steady state concentration of a given species in biochemical reaction networks with mass-action kinetics. This species is understood as the output of the network and we thus bound the maximal response of the system. The improved bounds give smaller starting boxes to launch numerical methods. We apply our results to the sequential enzymatic network studied in Markevich et al. (J Cell Biol 164(3):353–359, 2004) to find nontrivial upper bounds for the different substrate concentrations at steady state. Our approach does not require any simulation, analytical expression to describe the output in terms of the input, or the absence of multistationarity. Instead, we show how to extract information from effectively computable implicit dose-response curves, with the use of resultants and discriminants. We moreover illustrate in the application to an enzymatic network, the relation between the exact implicit dose-response curve we obtain symbolically and the standard hysteresis diagram provided by a numerical ode solver. The setting and tools we propose could yield many other results adapted to any autonomous polynomial dynamical system, beyond those where it is possible to get explicit expressions.Fil: Pérez Millán, Mercedes Soledad. A change of perspective: the challenge of teaching in Schools of Architecture with a participatory and creative methodology

Modernity has proposed replacing the discourse of architecture by science and technology, but not least is that this discourse has been fragmented by many other knowledge outside the logic of architecture. Raised the counterculture craftsman, an approach that involves establishing a critical positioning based on the analysis time (perspective on immediacy), history (trajectory versus spontaneity) and place (specificity versus generality). It is not giving up anything or limitation established, it is depth knowledge discipline from the immediacy which involves the creation of student classwork. Only in this way will not be diluted in an interdisciplinary discourse. The student, gradually, will choose one, nothing far from reality, a complexity that makes you daily thinking about the place, history and time, but always applied pragmatic complexity.La modernidad ha propuesto la sustitución del discurso de la arquitectura por el de la ciencia y la técnica, pero no menos lo es que este discurso ha sido atomizado por otros muchos saberes ajenos a la lógica de la arquitectura. Planteamos la contracultura del artesano, un planteamiento que pasa por establecer un posicionamiento crítico fundamentado en el análisis del tiempo (perspectiva frente a la inmediatez), la historia (trayectoria frente a la espontaneidad) y el lugar (concreción frente a la generalidad). No se trata de renunciar a nada ni establecerse límite alguno, se trata de conocer a fondo la disciplina desde la inmediatez que supone la creación del alumno en el trabajo de clase. Latin Americanist configuration of the speech of Pope Francis

http://sphera.ucam.edu/index.php/sphera-01/article/view/312/290El presente artículo da cuenta de los elementos del pensamiento latinoamericanista que fueron actualizados en el discurso proferido por el Papa Francisco a los Movimientos Populares en Bolivia en 2015. El itinerario metodológico consistió en tres aproximaciones que abordaron el discurso en una suerte de fuerza centrípeta. En primer lugar, se considera el discurso como inserto en un espacio contextual mínimo, por su biografía. Seguidamente, se determina la organización axiológica de la alocución para arribar a la línea de llegada en el marco de un contexto social y simbólico de la historia como horizonte totalizador de las prácticas. El discurso del Papa del fin del mundo recupera elementos del pensamiento latinoamericanista que, congregados, configuran una matriz discursiva diferencial de la tradición eclesiástica de las últimas décadas, fecundada por una propuesta sociopolítico-cultural liberacionista. La tarea asumida hoy por el Papa argentino reside en deconstruir y desandar, muy lentamente, siglos de opresión cultural y acuñar nuevas valoraciones para determinaciones ideológicas intra y extra-eclesiales sostenidas a lo largo del tiempo.This article gives an account of the elements of Latin American thinking that were updated in the speech made by Pope Francis to the Popular Movements in Bolivia in 2015. The methodological itinerary consisted of three approaches that addressed and exhausted the discourse in a sort of centripetal force. In the first place, discourse is considered as inserted in a minimal contextual space, given by its biography. Next, the axiological organization of the speech is determined to finally arrive at the line of arrival in the context of a comprehensive social and symbolic context of history as a totalizing horizon of the practices. The Pope's discourse on the end of the world recovers elements of Latin Americanist thought, elements that, assembled, form a differential discursive matrix of the ecclesiastical tradition of the last decades, a matrix fertilized by a socio-political-liberationist proposal, openly opposed the significant network established by the dominant discourse. The task assumed today by the Argentine Pope lies in deconstructing and retracing, very slowly, centuries of cultural oppression and coining new valuations for intra and extra-ecclesial ideological determinations sustained over time.Ciencias de la Comunicació
