The way of a writer: taoism in Ursula K. Le Guin's <i>The left hand of darkness</i>

When I first started reading Ms. Le Guin's novel, I was struck by the presence in it of what I then recognized as elements from Eastern philosophy and thought, in particular Taoism. Long before mention is made of the yin-yang concept and symbol, in Chapter 19, I felt these elements formed an underlying, yet essential, basis for the understanding of the book. It was much later that I also learned about this writer's interest in Taoism as an explanation, a resource, an answer, and a choice, and about her consequent knowledge of the Tao Te Ching.Departamento de Lenguas y Literaturas Moderna

Els macroheterocera dels Ports de Tortosa i Beseit (lepidoptera)

El treball exposa els resultats de les recerques lepidopterològiques (Macroheterocera) dutes a terme al massís dels ports de Tortosa i Beseit (Catalunya). Es dóna la relació de les espècies trobades (183) pertanyents a 12 famílies de Macroheterocera (a excepció dels Geometridae, tractats per Vallhonrat, 1997 i 1999) i s'inclouen comentaris sobre els taxons més interessants des de el punt de vista faunístic i biogeogràfic.The Macroheterocera of the Ports de Tortosa and Beseit (Catalonia) (Lepidoptera). In this paper are exposed the obtained results from the campaigns accomplished in the Ports de Tortosa-Beseit (Catalonia).
