Gauge invariant investigation of the nature of Confinement
We observe a strong correlation between the decrease in the number of action
density peaks in SU(2) Yang-Mills configurations with cooling and that of the
string tension. The nature and distribution of these peaks is investigated. The
relationship with monopole currents after the abelian projection is also
considered.Comment: uuencoded and Z-compressed file of the Postcript version of our

3x3 Multibeam Network for a Triangular Array of Three Radiating Elements
A multibeam antenna study based on Butler network will be undertaken in this document. These antenna designs combines phase shift systems with multibeam networks to optimize multiple channel systems. The system will work at 1.7 GHz with circular polarization. Specifically, result simulations and measurements of 3 element triangular subarray will be shown. A 45 element triangular array will be formed by the subarrays. Using triangular subarrays, side lobes and crossing points are reduced

The sphaleron energy for SU(2)-Higgs from cooling
The cooling algorithm for saddle points presented in ref. [1] is generalized
to obtain static classical solutions of the SU(2)-Higgs field theory in the
limit of infinite Higgs self-coupling. The sphaleron energy obtained via this
algorithm is to be compared with
5.0707 obtained in the variational approach [2].Comment: 3 pages, uuencoded compressed PostScript file. Contribution to

Synchronizing a modular robot colony for cooperative tasks based on intrainter robot communications
The implementation of robotic cooperative tasks such as pushing an object toward a desired destination or manipulating an object using mobile robots or robotic arms requires motion coordination between the robot colony. When a robot is built by the union of several robots, such as modular robot systems, it is critical to have the complete coordination of each robot configuration within the colony and also overall robot coordination of the colony. The paper presents a demonstration of parallel motion for modular robot configurations through the combination of two types of communications, i.e., Inter-robot and Intra-robot communications. The two types of communications are described and implemented in a real modular robot system. Experiments are executed to show the performance of the robot colony synchronizatio
Noncritical quadrature squeezing through spontaneous polarization symmetry breaking
We discuss the possibility of generating noncritical quadrature squeezing by
spontaneous polarization symmetry breaking. We consider first type-II
frequency-degenerate optical parametric oscillators, but discard them for a
number of reasons. Then we propose a four-wave mixing cavity in which the
polarization of the output mode is always linear but has an arbitrary
orientation. We show that in such a cavity complete noise suppression in a
quadrature of the output field occurs, irrespective of the parameter values
