Effectiveness of aerobic exercises and resistance exercises on blood pressure in stage I hypertension patients: A Comparative study

INTRODUCTION: Hypertension is when mean arterial pressure is greater than the upper range of the accepted normal measure. A mean arterial pressure greater than 110 mm Hg (normal is about 90 mm Hg) is considered to be hypertensive. This level of mean pressure occurs when the diastolic blood pressure is greater than 90 mm Hg and the systolic pressure is greater than about 135 mm Hg. In severe hypertension, the mean arterial pressure can rise up to 150 to 170 mm Hg, with diastolic pressure as high as 130 mm Hg and systolic pressure occasionally as high as 250 mm Hg. The seventh report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (JNC-VII report) has recommended a new classification for adults – 18 years or older. OBJECTIVE: It is an experimental study design to determine the effectiveness of aerobic exercises and resistance exercises on blood pressure in stage I hyper tension patients. PARTICIPANTS: A sample of 40 stage I hyper tension patients were divided in to 2 groups: Group A: Experimental group: Treated with aerobic and resistance exercises. Group B: Control Group: Treated with resistance exercises. OUTCOME Measures: Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure- measures by sphygmomanometer. RESULTS: Statistically group A was significant when compared to group B received normal blood pressure. CONCLUSION: The study concludes aerobic and resistance exercises in patients with stage I hypertension. Thus, this study accepts the alternate hypothesis and rejects the null hypothesis

Outcome Analysis of Arthroscopic Reconstruction of Anterior Cruciate Ligament in Adults

BACKGROUND: Anterior cruciate ligament injury is the common knee injury consequent to contact sports. There are different techniques recommended for the ACL reconstruction, with different graft materials. The aim of this study is to evaluate the functional outcome of arthroscopic single bundle ACL reconstruction using hamstring tendon graft in ACL deficient knees in adults. METHODOLOGY: Between 2014 to 2017 a prospective study was conducted in Thanjavur Medical College on 21 ACL deficient patients (M =19, F = 2] .All patients were evaluated pre-operatively using the Lysholm & Gillquist score and IKDC – 2000 score. All patients underwent arthroscopic single bundle ACL reconstruction with hamstring tendon graft , which was fixed with an endo-button CL fixation system on the femoral side and an interference screw on tibial side. They were advised a regular rehabilitation protocol. All patients were evaluated post-operatively at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and a year by same assessment scores. RESULTS: 20 patients were available for follow up for a period of 6 months to 2 years. The mean follow-up period was 10.5 months. When compared with their respective pre-operative knee assessment scores, it was found that a definite improvement was there in their knee function. The results were good to excellent in 80% patients, fair in 10 % and poor in 10 % cases. CONCLUSION: For young active adults, single bundle reconstruction by arthroscopic methods gives acceptable results. The problems which are faced post-operatively can be again settled arthroscopically. A long term follow-up of these cases is a must to analyze if there is degeneration that happened in the time between injury and ligament reconstruction

Effect of organic and inorganic fertilizer on phytochemical constituents in sunflower

    Get PDF
The present study was conducted to characterize the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizer on the phytochemical constituents of sun flower. The phytochemical constituent such as chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll and carotenoid content were analyzed. From the result it was observed that both the treatments had significantly improved the phytochemical constituents of sunflower. Among the treatments, organic fertilizer is found to be more efficient than inorganic fertilizer over control. The present work indicates towards the beneficial effect or organic and inorganic fertilizers for the improvement of sunflower

Vanniya Nataka Vizha, a festival of worship enacting the history of the Vanniyars, is enacted in the Vanniya drama like the worship of the Vanniyars and many other festivals in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. Pujas are performed along with the drama. In this regard, this study examines the role played in the worship of the Vanniya Nataka Vizh

    Beliefs in Worship

In the Vanniya drama, people's beliefs have a special place in many ways. This section shows that Vanniyar worship took root among the people. In the Vanniya drama, the beliefs of the people are highlighted and their greatness and worship are described in detail. Folklore is the culture of a particular people preserved in terms of beliefs and customs. Culture blossoms out of people's knowledge, beliefs, art, morality, law and custom. Customs and beliefs are based on the needs of the society. Beliefs and customs are the stepping stones of cultural development. Beliefs are thoughts that are beyond the level of knowledge.  Beliefs are created by the people and protected by the society. Human selfishness and social consciousness have been the constant beliefs from time immemorial. In Kottavoor village, certain rituals, customs and beliefs are rooted among the people. This article explains how certain beliefs are still followed from generation to generation because the family will prosper

DESIGN OF ONCHIP LOW DROPOUT (LDO) REGULATOR FOR POWER MANAGEMENT APPLICATION

    Get PDF
A low dropout regulator is proposed in this paper. The regulator is designed with classic five pack model to decrease the number of devices and make the design compact and also reduce the power consumption. The system is designed and simulated in cadence virtuoso environment under 180nm technology node. Three models of LDO is proposed in this paper, with all having same error amplifier but with small variations. The advantages and disadvantages of each model will be discussed in the paper. The LDOs have linear characteristic over a good input range. It has good transient response to load variation.Γ‚

siRNA knockdown of SPHK1 in vivo protects mice from systemic, type-I Allergy.

Systemic anaphylaxis is considered to be a typical immediate hypersensitivity response, determined by the activation of immune cells,
via antigen-induced aggregation of IgE-sensitized FcεRI cells. Perhaps most the important cells, in the immediate hypersensitivity responses, are mast cells. We have previously shown that SPHK1 plays a key role in the intracellular signaling pathways triggered by FceRI aggregation on human
mast cells. More recently, we performed a genome-wide gene expression profiling of human mast cells, sensitized with IgE alone, or stimulated by FcεRI aggregation. We found that sphingosine kinase 1 (SPHK1) was one
of genes activated at the earlier stages of mast cell activation, including during sensitization. Moreover, SPHK1 has been shown, by us and others, to be a key player in the intracellular signaling pathways triggered by
several immune-receptors, including fMLP, C5a, and Fcg- and Fcereceptors. Here we have investigated the in vivo role of SPHK1 in allergy, using a specific siRNA to knockdown SPHK1 in vivo. Our results support a role for
SPHK1 in the inflammatory responses that share clinical, immunological, and histological features of type I hypersensitivity. Thus, mice pretreated with the siRNA for SPHK1 were protected from the IgE mediated allergic
reactions including: temperature changes, histamine release, cytokine production, cell-adhesion molecule expression, and immune cell infiltration into the lungs
