Identifying Promising Candidate Radiotherapy Protocols via GPU-GA in-silico

Around half of all cancer patients, world-wide, will receive some form of radiotherapy (RT) as part of their treatment. And yet, despite the rapid advance of high-throughput screening to identify successful chemotherapy drug candidates, there is no current analogue for RT protocol screening or discovery at any scale. Here we introduce and demonstrate the application of a high-throughput/high-fidelity coupled tumour-irradiation simulation approach, we call "GPU-GA", and apply it to human breast cancer analogue - EMT6/Ro spheroids. By analysing over 9.5 million candidate protocols, GPU-GA yields significant gains in tumour suppression versus prior state-of-the-art high-fidelity/-low-throughput computational search under two clinically relevant benchmarks. By extending the search space to hypofractionated areas (> 2 Gy/day) yet within total dose limits, further tumour suppression of up to 33.7% compared to state-of-the-art is obtained. GPU-GA could be applied to any cell line with sufficient empirical data, and to many clinically relevant RT considerations

We report the absolute frequency measurements of rubidium 5S-7S two-photon transitions with a cw laser digitally locked to an atomic transition and referenced to an optical frequency comb. The narrow, two-photon transition, 5S-7S (760 nm) insensitive to first order in a magnetic field, is a promising candidate for frequency reference. The performed tests yield the transition frequency with accuracy better than reported previously.Comment: This paper was published in Optics Letters and is made available as an electronic reprint with the permission of OSA. This article aims to present elements of control within the selected areas of motor preparation in competitive athletes established at rest and after exercise. Identifying the effect of fatigue on the values of the controlled coefficients allows assessing training effectiveness, comparing athletes for performance, as well as determining the kinetics of oxygen deficit, oxygen debt, oxygen uptake or the level of lactate concentration at different stages of continued exercise. This type of research provides both athletes and their coaches with immediate information on how well the former are prepared and enables the control of training results. This article aims to present elements of control within selected areas of motor preparation in competitive athletes established both at rest and after exercise. This thesis presents recognition the number of dice dots using neural networks. It consists of two main parts, creating datasets and building neural networks. During the first stage 984 pictures were taken manually. Later they were scaled, rotated and cropped to get between 50 and 100 thousands of photos, depends on each neural network.Second part was building and training of neural networks, using Keras library. After first results, the tasks were focus on selecting network parameters and working on bigger photos. Finally created neural networks allows to recognise number of dice dots on image in size 64x64 and 106x79 pixels

By to osiągnać, zaproponuję mechanizm oparty o metody głębokiego uczenia z wykorzystaniem architektury Sequence to Sequence wraz z mechanizmem atencji. The automatic text summarizing task is one of the most complex problems in the field of natural language processing. In this dissertation, we present the abstraction-based summarization approach which allows to paraphrase the original text and generate new sentences. Creation of new formulations, completely different from the original text is similar to how humans summarize texts. To achieve this, we propose the deep learning method using Sequence to Sequence architecture with the attention mechanism. The goal is to create the model for Polish language, using dataset containing over 200,000 articles from Polish websites, split into text and summary parts. Presented outcomes look promising, obtaining decent results utilizing standard metrics for such type of task.Based on review of prior research done during experiments, this is the very first attempt of applying abstractive text summarization techniques for Polish language

Badano efektywność oczyszczania ścieków komunalnych w trzech oczyszczalniach Lemna System usytuowanych w centralnej Polsce ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem roli stawu rzęsowego i samej rzęsy. Oczyszczalnie różniły się między sobą występowaniem rzęsy. W dwóch z nich (w Rakowie i Bąkowcu) w trakcie całego okresu badań rzęsa nie występowała, natomiast w trzeciej (w Falęcinie Starym) w okresie wegetacyjnym pokrywała do 90%.powierzchni stawu. We wszystkich oczyszczalniach główną rolę w redukcji zanieczyszczeń odgrywał staw napowietrzan

Introduction: Ascariasis is mostly studied from the epidemiolog ical, public health and gastrointestinal perspective. In consequence, there are currently hardly any reports that associate ascariasis with atopic diseases and what is more, most of the available studies are either inconclusive or contradictory. Case study: We report a case of chronic atopic dermatitis caused by Ascaris lumbricoides infestation that was cured with nitazoxanide. The studied patient was a 1.5 year boy that suffered from refractory atopic dermatitis. No improvement was observed during prior to nitazoxanide standard treatment including topic steroids, oral antihistaminics and eliminatory diet. After nitazoxanide treatment, all atopic dermatitis symptoms vanished. Conclusions: Patients with ascariasis may present atopic dermatitis as the main symptom. The treatment should include antihelmintic medicines. In childr en < 24 months of age nitazoxanide is considered as a safe and effective drug.Introduction: Ascariasis is mostly studied from the epidemiolog ical, public health and gastrointestinal perspective. Self-supervised methods gain more and more attention, especially in the medical domain, where the number of labeled data is limited. They provide results on par or superior to their fully supervised competitors, yet the difference between information coded by both methods is unclear. This work introduces a novel comparison framework for explaining differences between supervised and self-supervised models using visual characteristics important to the human perceptual system. We apply this framework to models trained for Gleason score and conclude that self-supervised methods are more biased toward contrast and texture transformation than their supervised counterparts. At the same time, supervised methods code more information about the shape

Background: Watching athletic tournaments induces emotional and physiological responses in sports fans and coaches. The aim of the study was to investigate hormonal and cardiovascular responses in judo coaches observing the fights of their athletes during one-day, high-level tournaments. Material and methods: We studied the biological responses of a group of seventeen judo club coaches between the ages of 39 and 57 years to a one-day judo tournament attended by the adult male and/or female athletes that they coached. At the time of the tournaments and also in neutral conditions, the coaches’ capillary blood and saliva samples were collected concurrently two times a day, both at 7:30 a.m. and after completion of the tournament (at about 8:00 p.m.). Cardiovascular parameters were also determined at the same times of day. Sleep quality (SQ) was assessed on a 6-point scale both on the night preceding the tournament and in neutral conditions. Cortisol (C) and testosterone (T) levels were determined from serum and saliva samples. The results for both days at different times of day were compared. Results: Statistical calculations showed higher concentrations of cortisol and a greater reduction of testosterone levels in serum and saliva at the end of the day during the tournament compared with those on a neutral day. Morning and evening cardiovascular indices were higher during the tournament. Conclusion: The study showed that during one-day tournaments, judo coaches were exposed to stress that induced intermittent hormonal changes in blood and saliva and activated the autonomic nervous system
