Paper presented at the 9th International Conference on Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Malta, 16-18 July, 2012.In this study, thermal power plant’s, based on Ideal Rankine Cycle, steam is condensed while the pressure of the condenser changes between 0.1 bar and 0.02 bar. The effect of this condensation on condenser area and effects to the cost is investigated. Change of rate of condenser area is calculated, relative to the condenser pressure drops. It is concluded that the area of condenser increases when the pressure of condenser decreases, accordingly the cooling water pump power changes. This result is discussed in the impact of energy production costs

A theoretical model for determining thermal conductivity of porous solid materials

Paper presented at the 9th International Conference on Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Malta, 16-18 July, 2012.In present study a new-developed simple algebraic equation is used to find out the effective thermal conductivity of new–produced composite materials that have nonhomogenous microscopic porosity. Thermal power plant ashes, tragacanth and portland cement are used as binding components of these porous composite materials. By varying the mixing ratio of three components, 24 samples have been produced. Effective thermal conductivity coefficients obtained by the algebraic method is then compared to the ones obtained by experimental measurement techniques. The theoretical results are found to be agreeable with the experimental results.dc201

Comparison of optical coherence biometry and applanation ultrasound biometry in high-myopic eyes with posterior pole staphyloma

We compared the refractive outcomes of optical coherence biometry and applanation ultrasound biometry in 17 high-myopic eyes with posterior pole staphylorna. The optical coherence biometry provided more accurate IOL power calculations than applanation ultrasound biometry in patients with high myopia and posterior pole staphylorna. We compared the refractive outcomes of optical coherence biometry and applanation ultrasound biometry in 17 high-myopic eyes with posterior pole staphyloma.
