A study of the relationship between metabolism using1H-MRS and function using several neuropsychological tests in temporal lobe epilepsy
AbstractSeveral investigators have reported on the relationship between metabolism, using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), and function, using neuropsychological tests in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) patients , but the opinions regarding the results remain in contention. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between metabolism, using proton MRS (1H-MRS), and function using several neuropsychological tests in the temporal lobes of TLE patients. We studied 29 TLE patients at our hospital using1H-MRS and neuropsychological tests. We used a clinical 1.5 T MR unit. We conducted five neuropsychological tests to examine the function of the left or right temporal lobe. There were significant correlations between the N-acetylaspartate/creatine + phosphocreatine (NAA/Cr) ratios and the scores of almost all of the neuropsychological tests for the temporal lobe function ipsilateral to the spike focus. However, in two Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised (WMS-R) subtests we found no significant correlation in the ipsilateral side. These findings suggest that the NAA/Cr ratios, which reflect neural metabolism, are closely related to function in the temporal lobes of TLE patients . The disparity between the results in two subtests of WMS-R show that several tests may be necessary in order to assess temporal lobe function
2002年以前日本人胃のHIP
Gastric hamartomatous inverted polyp (g-HIP) is rare gastric elevated lesion forming endophytic growth pattern which etiology remains unknown. G-HIP is said to be associated with gastric cancer and gastritis. We systematically reviewed Japanese g-HIP’s clinicopathological features reported before2002. Japanese g-HIP amount to20lesions,18patients ; 7(38.9%)were males and 11(61.1%)were females. The mean age of patients was 60.2 years old. The mean size of the lesions was21.7millimeter. No of the polyp shape was Yamada type IV7, Yamada type I/flat elevation 6, Yamada type III 4 and Yamada II 3, respectively. The site of the lesions was Body11, Cardia3, Fornix3and Antrum1, respectively. In12described cases, accompanied lesion was Gastritis, Carcinoma, GCP, Hyperplastic polyp, GIST and remnant stomach due to ulcer. Of the submucosal shaped(Yamada type I/flat elevation)g-HIP,50% has GCP and62.5% has gastric cancer. The common feature of g-HIP was pyloric gland-like mucous gland proliferation and cystic dilatation in the H. pylori era of Japan
H Emission Nebulosity Associated with KH 15D
An H emission filament is found in close proximity to the unique object
KH 15D using the adaptive optics system of the Subaru Telescope. The morphology
of the filament, the presence of spectroscopic outflow signatures observed by
Hamilton et al., and the detection of extended H emission from KH 15D by
Deming, Charbonneau, & Harrington suggest that this filament arises from
shocked H in an outflow. The filament extends about 15" to the north of KH
15D.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, 1 table. Astrophysical Journal Letters, in pres
NCRT with S-1 plus irinotecan for LALRC
Background and purpose: Preoperative 5-fluorouracil-based chemoradiotherapy is a standard treatment for locally advanced lower rectal cancer (LALRC). We performed a phase I study to develop a new regimen combining irinotecan and S-1.
Materials and methods: Patients with LALRC (T3-4, N0-2) were studied. The radiation dose was 45 Gy in 25 fractions. S-1 (80 mg/m2/day) was administered on days 1–5, 8–12, 22–26, and 29–33. Irinotecan was administered on days 1, 8, 22, and 29. The dose of irinotecan was initially 60 mg/m2 (level 1). Surgery was performed 6–10 weeks after the chemoradiotherapy.
Results: Twenty patients were enrolled, of whom 18 patients were analyzed. Dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) did not occur in the first 3 patients treated with irinotecan at 80 mg/m2 (level 2), but developed in 3 of the 6 patients who received irinotecan at 90 mg/m2 (level 3). Then DLT occurred in 3 other patients at level 2. At level 2 or 3, DLT comprised neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and diarrhea. Level 2 was designated as the maximum tolerated dose, and level 1 as a recommended dose (RD). The pathological complete response rate was 28%, and the down-staging rate was 56%.
Conclusions: Our results suggested that the RD of irinotecan when combined with preoperative S-1 and pelvic radiation was 60 mg/m2
A Subarcsecond Companion to the T Tauri Star AS 353B
Adaptive optics imaging of the bright visual T Tauri binary AS 353 with the
Subaru Telescope shows that it is a hierarchical triple system. The secondary
component, located 5.6" south of AS 353A, is resolved into a subarcsecond
binary, AS 353Ba and Bb, separated by 0.24". Resolved spectroscopy of the two
close components shows that both have nearly identical spectral types of about
M1.5. Whereas AS 353A and Ba show clear evidence for an infrared excess, AS
353Bb does not. We discuss the possible role of multiplicity in launching the
large Herbig-Haro flow associated with AS 353A.Comment: AASTeXv5.0, 21 pages, 5 figures, Astronomical Journal, in pres
Subaru near infrared coronagraphic images of T Tauri
High angular resolution near-infrared (JHK) adaptive optics images of T Tau were obtained with the infrared camera Coronagraphic Imager with Adaptive Optics (CIAO) mounted on the 8.2m Subaru Telescope in 2002 and 2004. The images resolve a complex circumstellar structure around a multiple system. We resolved T Tau Sa and Sb as well as T Tau N and S. The estimated orbit of T Tau Sb indicates that it is probably bound to T Tau Sa. The K band flux of T Tau S decreased by ˜ 1.7 Jy in 2002 November compared with that in 2001 mainly because T Tau Sa became fainter. The arc-like ridge detected in our near-infrared images is consistent with what is seen at visible wavelengths, supporting the interpretation in previous studies that the arc is part of the cavity wall seen relatively pole-on. Halo emission is detected out to ˜2\u27\u27from T Tau N. This may be light scattered off the common envelope surrounding the T Tauri multiple system
