Purpose: To evaluate the in vivo anti-inflammatory effect and in vitro antioxidant activity of the areal part of Sedum sediforme (Jacq.) extracts. Methods: The plant was extracted with solvents of varying polarity (Methanol, chloroform and ethyl acetate, respectively) allowed its separation into three sub-fractions: crude extract, chloroform extract and ethyl acetate extract (CrE, ChE and EaE, respectively). Total polyphenol contents of the extracts were determined. The phorbolmyristate acetate (PMA) induced mice ear edema method was using to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity. The in vitro scavenging activity was evaluated using enzymatic and non-enzymatic methods. Chelating ability of extracts was assessed using Fe2+–ferrozine complex. Results: The highest content of phenolics compound was in EaE. The administration of CrE (12.5 and 25 mg/kg) reduced ear edema induced by PMA (%I = 35.81 ± 3.18 % and 38.57 ± 2.80 %, respectively), the effect was comparable with that of diclofenac used as a reference drug (%I = 38.84 ± 1.87 %). The in vitro scavenging activity of S. sediforme extracts confirmed that the CrE has the highest enzymatic and non-enzymatic activity with a half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) = 0.063 ± 0.005 mg/mL and 0.178 ± 0.006 mg/mL, respectively. However, the ChE present an excellent  chelating activity with a half-maximal effective concentration (EC50) of 0.397 ± 0.001 mg/mL.Conclusion: The results show that S. sediforme extracts have a strong antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities which lend some support their use in the traditional medicine. Early rare recurrence of a huge renal solitary fibrous tumor: Case report and review of literature

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a spindle cell neoplasm of mesenchymal origin. First reported in 1931, the pleura is the most common localization of SFT, and it’s exceptionally rare in the kidney. Overall, it represents less than 2% of all soft tissue tumors. In most cases, renal SFT (rSFT) presents with hematuria, flank pain, and a palpable mass. To our knowledge, less than 112 cases of rSFT have been reported. We report a case of rSFT of a 30-year-old male thought to be a renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Radical nephrectomy (RN) was done to remove a large right-sided mass invading the inferior vena cava. Immunohistochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of SFT showing positivity for CD34, CD99, and Bcl-2 protein, with no staining for cytokeratin. A post-operative CT (15 months) showed tumor recurrence in the renal compartment with huge inferior vena cava thrombus extending to the external iliac veins. With this case, we illustrate and highlight the importance of this diagnosis because of the uncertain biological behavior and prognosis of these tumors

First case report of enzootic nasal adenocarcinoma in "Ouled Djellal" ewe in Algeria

We report clinical and pathological features of enzootic nasal adenocarcinoma (ENA) in one sheep in Algeria. A one-year-old Ouled Djellal sheep from a large herd (~1240 animals), located in Bordj Bou Arreridj, Algeria, was clinically diagnosed by the presence of persistent seromucous nasal discharge, head shaking, muzzle licking, dyspnoea, exophthalmia and frontal protrusion. The sheep was euthanized, and the necropsy was performed. Gross examination showed soft touch, pinkish-white tumour masses in the nasal cavities with distortion of the turbinates and of the medium septum. According to clinical and pathological findings, the tumour has been defined as a low grade mixed nasal adenocarcinoma, with the presence of tubular and papillary structures. This is, to our knowledge, the first report of ENA in Algeria known to be associated with enzootic nasal tumour virus (ENTV) infection. However, such association requires confirmation by direct and/or indirect viral investigation
