NAZARBAYEV UNIVERSITY AS A FLAGSHIP UNIVERSITY IN KAZAKHSTAN
“The strategic plans of Nazarbayev University have been approved for the years of 2013-2020, and this event has heralded a new stage in the University's development. The strategy defines the main long-term objectives and directions for their realization to ensure the dynamic development of the University in becoming a significant model of quality educatioas an exemplar for other institutions of the country.”
Education reforms in Kazakhstan
This article is about development of Kazakhstan, its plans for the future. The author is talking about Nazarbayev University as a big national project which will become a template for the development of other Kazakhstani universities

Saigas on the brink: Multidisciplinary analysis of the factors influencing mass mortality events
In 2015, more than 200,000 saiga antelopes died in 3 weeks in central Kazakhstan. The proximate cause of death is confirmed as hemorrhagic septicemia caused by the bacterium Pasteurella multocida type B, based on multiple strands of evidence. Statistical modeling suggests that there was unusually high relative humidity and temperature in the days leading up to the mortality event; temperature and humidity anomalies were also observed in two previous similar events in the same region. The modeled influence of environmental covariates is consistent with known drivers of hemorrhagic septicemia. Given the saiga population’s vulnerability to mass mortality and the likely exacerbation of climate-related and environmental stressors in the future, management of risks to population viability such as poaching and viral livestock disease is urgently needed, as well as robust ongoing veterinary surveillance. A multidisciplinary approach is needed to research mass mortality events under rapid environmental change
Niobium(v) recovery from leaching solution of titanium wastes: kinetic studies
This paper deals with the removal of Nb content from chemically leached solutions of titanium wastes using static ion exchange technology. The chemically leached solutions contained 2 g/L of Nb. The investigations involved the optimization of process parameters, such as contact time at different concentrations of niobium at room temperature. Sorption experiments are performed to evaluate the optimum conditions at a concentration of HCl 3,0 M, 1,0 g resin dose for 3,5 h contact time at room temperature. The maximum sorption capacity reaches to 0,089 g/g. Kinetics studies were proposed for the process by pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and intraparticle diffusion models
Phase and structural transformations in foil billet during rolling of helical rollers and longitudinal wedge mill (LWM)
In the article, by changing the technological modes of strip rolling in helical rolls and a longitudinal wedge mill, the phase and structural transformations in the foil blank are studied. It was found that rolling in helical rolls with twelve passes of the initial alloy billet 2017 provides its nanostructuring with the formation of a mixed structure. It is shown that rolling alloy 2017 in helical rolls leads to an increase in the density of dislocations. It has been proved that with an increase in the number of passes, the excess phases, mainly of coarse particles of the (CuFeMn) 3Si2Al15 phase, are significantly crushed. The volume fraction of these particles does not change
Biological Characterization of Pasteurella multocida present in the Saiga Population
This study provides biochemical and molecular genetic characteristics of P. multocida isolated from dead saigas in 1988, 2010–2015 on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan
