    Get PDF
Aluminium types 7075,2024 and magnesium casting alloys are widely used in aircarft components, example Helicopter because of their inherent weight advantages over other metals but premature failure due to corrosion is one of the main challenges associated with this alloys, which affects the safety and readiness of aircraft. This paper is an outcome of project to address corrosion problem at Helicopter part using supersonic particle deposition as potential corrosion treatment method in Malaysia.Current practise of corrosion treatment by OEMs such as Sikorsky are using DOW-17 process or thermal spray coating. Disadvantage of DOW-17 process,it involve hazard material and Thermal spray coating issue of porosity and fatigue failure. The procedure focusing on particle deposition at supersonic level using material powder that suitable with substrate.Supersonic particle deposition using Aluminium coating will provide total solution for corrosion treatment for Aluminum airframe structure. There is no application yet of this coating technology in Malaysia and on top of that, coating at low temperatue that creates negligible heat affected zone and lead to excellent fatigue properties between deposited material and substrate, this will contribute to a big potential of SPD application in aircraft, automotive and tooling industry

The Asian region is forecast as fastest growing aviation market for the next 20 years. By 2025 Asian airports are expected to handle more than three times the volume of movement handled in 2005 with growing average 6% per year. Aircraft maintenance and repair play a major role in increasing useful life of aircraft part and on top of that, it increase confident level of user. Malaysia forecast to become regional maintenance, repairing and overhaul (MRO) hub to be worth US$65 billion by 2020.Corrosion treatment is one of the MRO services that utmost concern in the aircraft industry. Many techniques been used to control corrosion in aviation industry ; grease, application of advanced composite material, DOW 17 process and thermal spray. DOW 17 process issued with OSHA and thermal spray technology will create internal stress lead to fatigue failure due to application of heat on aircraft part. There is keen interest to explore potential applications of high pressure cold spray (HPCS) process onto aircraft structure for corrosion treatment. One of the characteristic of cold spray process is creates a negligible heat-affected zone in the as-deposited material and substrate, therefore generating layers that exhibit excellent fatigue characteristics and spray efficiency in HPCS reaching up to 90%. Due to this features, cold spray is potential solution for corrosion treatment to be applied on aircraft part

A REVIEW ON SUPERSONIC PARTICLE DEPOSITION AS POTENTIAL SOLUTION FOR AIRCRAFT METAL MOLD REPAIR

The global Maintainence , Repairing and Overhaul (MRO) services industry is forecast to be worth US$65 billion by 2020. Malaysia plans to become a regional hub for aircraft maintenance and repairs. The country was currently ranked fifth in Asia and tenth in the world in terms of aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul. Maintenance or repair technique play a major role in increasing useful life of the aerospace part and it increase the confident level of the user. Supersonic particle deposition has attracted serious attention because it unique thick dimensional restoration properties can be obtained by the process that is not achievable by thermal spraying. This uniqueness is due to the fact that dimensional restoration deposition takes place without exposing the spray or substrate material to high temperature and its ability to perform a bonding with the underlying material without the creation of heat affected zones which are typical of other deposition processes, thermal spray and are undesirable in many structural applications. This paper is an outcome to discuss supersonic particle deposition process as potential repair technique for aircraft metal mould, which is widely acclaimed for and on top of that, re-use of material will contribute to cost saving and in-haze the environment. Magnesium, Mg and its alloys have excellent physical and mechanical properties for a number of applications. Mg approximately 35% lighter than aluminum and has exceptional stiffness and damping capacity. Disadvantage of this metal and its alloys are highly susceptible to corrosion, particularly in salt-spray conditions and very susceptible to surface damage due to impact. This paper is an outcome of project to address corrosion problem at Mg chasis part in walkie talkie radio using cold spray technique. Current practise of corrosion treatment for Mg chassis structure is using organic coating contains no heavy metals, fluorides with no effect on the alloy composition upon recycling. Disadvantage of this technique is galvanic corrosion at Mg chassis part after 48hrs of salt spray testing and dull finishing. There is keen interest to explore potential applications of high pressure cold spray (HPCS) process onto Mg structure for corrosion treatment. One of the characteristic of cold spray process is creates a negligible heat-affected zone in the as-deposited material and substrate, therefore generating layers that exhibit excellent fatigue characteristics and spray efficiency in HPCS reaching up to 90%. Due to this features, cold spray is potential solution for corrosion treatment to be applied on Mg chassis structur

INFLUENCE OF CALCIUM HYDROXIDE CONCENTRATION ON THE SYNTHESIS NANOSIZED PRECIPITATED CALCIUM CARBONATE

The precipitated of calcium carbonate has attracted much attention because of its numerous applications in various areas of plastics, textiles, rubbers, adhesives, paints and waste water treatment. Nanosized of precipitated calcium carbonate, (PCC) will enhance the properties and give better performance. Its high purity and close controlled particle size and shape are making it the white filler of choice. Nanosized precipitated calcium carbonate particles were prepared using spraying method. The particles were prepared using three (3) different concentrations of Calcium Hydroxide, Ca(OH)2, three (3) CO2 flow rate and three (3) different calcinations temperatures. The three (3) concentration of Calcium Hydroxide that been used are 25g / 200ml, 25g / 400ml and 25g / 800ml and each of these initial solution sprayed at three (3) different CO2 flow rate, 5l / per-minute, 7l / per-minute and 10l / per-minute. Calcium Carbonate, CaCO3 powders were then calcined at three (3) different temperature, 1100°C, 1200°C and 1300°C. Images from FESEM showed morphology of the particles changed to spindle-like or prismatic when the ionic strength of the Calcium Hydroxide, Ca(OH)2 was increased

In this study, Al powders were deposited onto Al substrates using cold spray to form a coating. The main objective is to investigate and compare the microstructure, mechanical and wear properties of Al coating to that of the Al substrate. The microstructure of the coating and substrate were observed using Scanning electron microscope (SEM),hardness was evaluated using Vickers hardness test and wear properties were investigated using a pin on disc wear test machine

Factors that lead Malaysians to file for personal bankruptcy

    Get PDF
A formal legal statement that one cannot fully repay all of one's debts is required to declare bankruptcy. Since 2000, the number of personal bankruptcies that occur annually in Malaysia has been greater than 10,000. The COVID-19 outbreak that began in early 2020 had a significant negative impact on the economy and the healthcare system as if things were not already terrible enough. As a result, the primary objective of this study was to investigate the statistics covering the period from 1990 to 2020 to determine the factors that lead to personal bankruptcies in Malaysia. In addition, it examined whether or not there was a connection between individual bankruptcies in Malaysia and the country's lending rate, the percentage of loans that were considered to be non-performing, and the unemployment rate. A multivariate regression model was utilized to determine the significance of the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. It was discovered that individual bankruptcies had a significant and inversely proportional relationship with credit and unemployment rates. On the other hand, there was a significant connection between personal bankruptcies and the presence of non-performing loans. Future researchers are strongly encouraged to gather data daily, quarterly, or monthly, incorporate more independent factors in the drivers of personal bankruptcy, and expand their investigations to other countries to obtain more accurate and credible conclusions
