    Shield tilings

We provide a complete description of the edge-to-edge tilings with a regular triangle and a shield-shaped hexagon with no right angle. The case of a hexagon with a right angle is also briefly discussed

Ultrasonic impact treatment of the welded joint of aluminum-magnesium alloy produced by friction stir welding

The paper presents the results of ultrasonic impact treatment of the AMg5M alloy weld joint produced by friction stir welding, in order to eliminate defects in the root side of the weld. It was shown that ultrasonic impact treatment increases the microhardness of the surface layer caused by the accumulation of microplastic deformation during the impact

The microstructure of aluminum-magnesium alloy friction stir weld

Friction stir weld joint of aluminum/magnesium alloy has been structurally characterized after tensile testing. A butt-weld flaw which a surface of joining between two sheets has been revealed. This defect dictates the specificity of sample's fracture in a tensile test

Multi-faceted role of LRP1 in the immune system

Graft versus host disease (GVHD) represents the major complication after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (Allo-SCT). GVHD-prone patients rely on GVHD prophylaxis (e.g. methotrexate) and generalized anti-GVHD medical regimen (glucocorticoids). New anti-GVHD therapy strategies are being constantly explored, however there is an urgent need to improve current treatment, since GVHD-related mortality reaches 22% within 5 years in patients with chronic GVHD. This review is an attempt to describe a very well-known receptor in lipoprotein studies – the low-density lipoprotein receptor related protein 1 (LRP1) - in a new light, as a potential therapeutic target for GVHD prevention and treatment. Our preliminary studies demonstrated that LRP1 deletion in donor murine T cells results in significantly lower GVHD-related mortality in recipient mice with MHC (major histocompatibility complex) -mismatched HSCT. Given the importance of T cells in the development of GVHD, there is a significant gap in scientific literature regarding LRP1’s role in T cell biology. Furthermore, there is limited research interest and publications on this classical receptor molecule in other immune cell types. Herein, we endeavor to summarize existing knowledge about LRP1’s role in various immune cells to demonstrate the possibility of this receptor to serve as a novel target for anti-GVHD treatment

Ultrametric diffusion in a strong centrally symmetric field

    No full text
A random process at the boundary of a finite regularly branching tree encapsulated in the central-symmetric external field is considered with respect to introduced ultrametricity. We demonstrate an explicit procedure of reduction of dimensionality of the problem. In addition, we consider the strong-field-limit and show that in this case the problem can be solved exactly. The exact solution of the strong-field-limit problem related to the case of linearly growing hierarchy of barriers is exemplified and supplemented by estimations of the transition kinetics into the ground state

Justification of the methodological approach to formation of the parties of innovation activities in holdings

    No full text
The paper presents the problematic area of the formation of the parties of innovation activities in holdings and its methodological justification. The objective preconditions for differentiating intersubject interactions as a part of innovation activity with the participation of holdings are considered. Features of the formation of innovation strategies and goal-setting mechanisms are structured; their features in large enterprises are emphasized. The importance of determining the optimal parties of the innovation network as a factor of increasing the efficiency of implementation of innovation activity is substantiated. The external and internal environments of the holding are considered as sources of attracting participants of innovation activity. Features of the procedure for selecting the structure of innovation activity, complicated by the conditions of multi- project environment, are presented. Positive effects from the introduction of the scientific approach to the determination of the parties of innovation activity were revealed
