The second half of the twentieth century is marked by a high rhythm of change, which is very clearly manifested in art as a reflection of real time. In the 1960s, a new genre - a photo-painting - got its life. This genre has actively declared itself in the work of Gerhard Richter. Synthesizing paintings and photographs symbolizes the beginning of the artist's creative path. Richter's work is multidimensional and specific. This led to an increase in interest in him from the art historians and cultural experts of our time. The purpose of this article is an art history and cultural analysis of Gerhard Richter's paintings as a reflection of the transformation of twentieth-century art.The article uses the methods of discursive analysis, immersion method

Protease Activated Receptor Signaling Is Required for African Trypanosome Traversal of Human Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells

Human African trypanosomiasis, or sleeping sickness, occurs when single-cell trypanosome protozoan parasites spread from the blood to brain over the blood-brain barrier (BBB). This barrier is composed of brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs) especially designed to keep pathogens out. Safe drugs for treating sleeping sickness are lacking and alternative treatments are urgently required. Using our human BMEC BBB model, we previously found that a parasite protease, brucipain, induced calcium activation signals that allowed this barrier to open up to parasite crossing. Because human BMECs express protease-activated receptors (PARs) that trigger calcium signals in BMECs, we hypothesized a functional link between parasite brucipain and BMEC PARs. Utilizing RNA interference to block the production of one type of PAR called PAR-2, we hindered the ability of trypanosomes to both open up and cross human BMECs. Using gene-profiling methods to interrogate candidate BMEC pathways specifically triggered by brucipain, several pathways that potentially link brain inflammatory processes were identified, a finding congruent with the known role of PAR-2 as a mediator of inflammation. Overall, our data support a role for brucipain and BMEC PARs in trypanosome BBB transmigration, and as potential triggers for brain inflammation associated with the disease

Currently, new varieties are subject to strict requirements for adaptability, productivity, commercial and consumer qualities of fruits. In this regard, it is important to study the interaction of the genotype of apple tree varieties and forms with climatic conditions, and it is also necessary to assess the genotypic variability of economically valuable traits focused on identifying genotypes characterized by stability of fruit quality in growing conditions. The study examined 12 varieties and forms of apple tree, selected by the Orenburg branch of the FGBNU FNTs of Horticulture. The following signs were studied: useful ovary (%), number of fruits (pcs.), average fruit weight (g), productivity (kg/d), sugar content in fruits, soluble solids, ascorbic acid, determination of titrable acidity. The study used mathematical models of two-factor variance and cluster analysis by the Ward method. Statistically significant differences were observed in the number of fruits between the first and third, and second and third clusters (t = 4.01 and 4.35, at p<0.01, respectively), as well as productivity between the first and third clusters (t = 9.19 at p<0.01), second and third (t = 8.7 at p<0.01)

The purpose of the research is to create winter-hardy, large-fruited, high-yielding, high-quality varieties of apple trees of different ripening periods and their growing technology (use of a biological product) in the South Urals. The research was carried out on the basis of Orenburg a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Federal Scientific Selection and Technology Center for Horticulture and Nursery" from 1999 to 2020. Research objects were summer apple varieties – Orenburgskoe, Orenburgskoe krasnoe, Letnee polosatoe (K); winter – Orenburgskoe pozdnee, Zimnee, YUzhnoural'skoe (K). The counts and observations were carried out according to generally accepted methods. As a result of the studies, the data obtained showed that the property of short stature as a genetic trait of resistance is transmitted to the offspring during hybridization. The varieties Orenburgskoe pozdnee, Zimnee and YUzhnoural’skoe showed the greatest increase in productivity embodiment experience “Evrikor − Forte + 7” 2.5 l / ha by 25.4%, 24.3% and 22.2% respectively. Thus, the application of "Evrikor − Forte + 7" increased both the number of fruits and their weight, and also increased the yield of the studied varieties

Temperature Dependence of the Kinetic Parameters of the Titanium–Magnesium Catalyzed Propylene Polymerization

This paper provides a study of the liquid-phase polypropylene polymerization on a heterogeneous titanium–magnesium Ziegler–Natta-type catalyst. A kinetic model was developed that included the activation of potential active centers, chain growth, transferring the chains to hydrogen and monomer, and the deactivation of active centers. The model was created to predict the polymerization rate, polymer yield, and average molecular weights of polymer chains where the polymerization temperature changes from 40 to 90 °C. In developing polycentric kinetic models, there is a difficulty associated with evaluating the kinetic constants of the rates of elementary reactions/stages in polymerization. Each heterogeneous titanium–magnesium catalyst (TMC), including a co-catalyst, as well as an internal and an external electron donor, has its own set of kinetic parameters. Therefore, its kinetic parameters must be defined for each new catalyst. The presented algorithm for identifying the kinetic constants of rates starts with a kinetic model that considers one type of active centers. At the second stage, a deconvolutional analysis is used for the molecular weight distribution (MWD) of the gel permeation chromatography (GPC) data of the polypropylene samples and the most probable distribution of Flory chain lengths is found for each type of active centers. At the third stage, the single-center model is transformed into a polycentric kinetic model. For the catalyst system, five types of active centers were identified, together with a mass fraction and a number-average molecular weight for each active center type of the catalyst, which is consistent with the published results for similar Ti-based Ziegler–Natta catalysts

Background. Acute intestinal infections (AII) caused by Shiga-like toxin-producing Escherichia coli and accompanied by hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) development are characterized by rapid progression and poor prognosis. Bloody diarrhea (hemorrhagic colitis) requires timely medical treatment both at young age and at adolescence. The severe course of HUS affected by AII caused by enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli requires additional medical attention and timely renal replacement therapy (hemodialysis).Clinical Case Description. The description and analysis of the severe course of HUS affected by AII in 14 years old adolescent girl is presented. There were some difficulties during diagnostics and thus the pathogenetic therapy onset was delayed. Differential diagnosis between typical and atypical HUS was performed. The disease was characterized by rapid progression of acute kidney injury, cerebrovascular disease and ischemia, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome and disseminated intravascular coagulation resulting in fatal case.Conclusion. Atypical HUS is the most frequent cause of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome alongside with acute kidney injury. The challenges of early diagnostics of atypical GUS in childhood are not fully solved nowadays and require additional attention of pediatricians. The clinical case of atypical GUS complicated by intestinal infection caused by enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli is described in this article. The severity of the disease course was due to the early manifestation of extrarenal symptoms and multiple organ failure
