    Socio-Economic Variables and Contraceptive Usage: Implication for Marketing

    The study on fertility behaviour, sexual negotiation and contraceptive use among married couples was undertaken in Osogbo community of Osun state. It was aimed at examining how reproductive decisions and outcomes are negotiated within sexual unions and also to determine the factors that inhibit discussion of contraception among couples. A multistage probability sampling procedure was adopted to select the sampling using the enumeration maps prepared by the National Population Commission for the 1991 census. Multivariate logistics regression analysis technique was employed to determine the pattern and degree of relationships between the variables. It was observed that contraceptive use among couples were significantly affected by sex, religion, ever given birth and newly married. Social marketing among other strategies was recommended

    Entrepreneurship Education and Venture Creation: A Systematic Review

    Entrepreneurship education has flourished as a field of study attributed to its relevance/importance and role in accelerating the global economy’s financial well-being. Any worthwhile project may be sustained over the long run; thanks to education, which is a powerful force. In all civilizations, mature, developing, or undeveloped, education has long been seen as a powerful tool for upholding culture and achieving personal and societal liberty.  Despite its growing popularity, there is still much to learn about the nature of entrepreneurship education and its potential to change society. This study seeks to provide insight or knowledge about entrepreneurship education and venture creation by emphasizing current trends and areas for further research. The literature on entrepreneurship education gathered, assessed, and interpreted for this research between 2018 and 2023 came from a systematic review of published articles. The study looked at 25 studies from the literature on entrepreneurship training and business creation. Many distinct subjects have been examined, with entrepreneurship education and venture creation being the most thoroughly investigated area. The result established that entrepreneurship education programs had drawn growing interest. The findings of this research seek to assist decision-makers in entrepreneurship education by developing better solutions.     The objective of this research was to examine the role of an educator’s competence in enhancing students’ commitment to write business plans as expression of entrepreneurial aspirations and intentions. The data for this study was collected from university students of four selected institutions in Nigeria offering a degree programme in entrepreneurship. The selected universities are Joseph Ayo Babalola in Osun State, Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta Ogun State, Federal University of Technology Akure Ondo State, and Lead City University Ibadan Oyo State. This study adopted descriptive cross sectional survey research design in which the research questionnaire was administered to participants based on purposive, stratified and simple random sampling techniques. A total of six hundred (600) students from the selected universities participated in this study. In developing the survey questionnaire instrument, questions were adapted from existing literature that relate to the study. Hierarchical Multiple Regression Analysis was used in validating the hypothesis postulated in the study using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. The findings from the analysis implied that the experience and skill of an entrepreneurship educator impacts on entrepreneurship students’ commitment to learning particularly in writing feasible and viable business plans. It was recommended that entrepreneurship educators should ensure to utilize their experience and skill to motivate students’ commitment to entrepreneurial related learning with particular emphasis on business plan writing. This is hinged upon the fact that angel investors, partnering financial institutions and other stakeholder support systems mostly favor business plan competitions as basis for supporting business start-ups

    LEADERSHIP STYLES AND SUSTAINABILITY OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP PRACTICES IN HIGHER INSTITUTIONS IN NIGERIA

    Over the last two decades, the terms leadership and leadership styles has become more important and widely used in the world. This research examined the enhancement of leadership styles on sustainability of the entrepreneurial practices in higher institution with reference to Covenant University Ota. Three hundred and two (302) members of covenant University Alumni (2007-2018) were randomly sampled by correspondence via emails through the alumni office. The study employed descriptive and inferential statistics. Regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis to determine the weight of the independent variables on the dependent variables. The result of analysis shows that Autocratic and Transformational style has significant effect on the practice of entrepreneurship and if properly applied would increase the number of entrepreneurs in the country, reduce unemployment as well lead to positive economic growth of the Nation Nigeria

    BUSINESS INCUBATION AND STUDENT IDEA VALIDATION: A FOCUS ON NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES

    This study critically examined the role of university business incubation initiatives in fostering business idea validation of university students in Nigeria. To achieve this objective, a total of 362 students drawn from covenant university Ogun State, Nigeria, were sampled. The data were analysed using regression analysis. The result showed that business incubation activities have positive significant influence on validating business ideas generated by university students. Based on the result of the study, it was recommended that business incubation activities should be an embedded policy in Nigerian universities to motivate business idea validation potentials of undergraduate students.     Concise Adoption of Generic Business Strategies, Virtues for Accomplishing: Corporate Mission in Multinational Firms in Nigeria

    This study considered the concise adoption of generic business strategies in the accomplishment of corporate mission in multinational firms in Nigeria. Several attributes based on the resource and competence-based theories and models informed the nature of the study. Quantitative explanatory cross-sectional design was adopted using primarily the structured instrument designed on a 5-point Likert scale. Probability and non-probability sampling techniques were engaged in sampling 275 respondents from the multinational firms.The data obtained were analyzed using both descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that the generic business strategies have signify cant predictors of corporate mission accomplishment. Findings also revealed that there was positive significant influence between concise generic business strategies and firms’ productivity.This paper recommended a mandatory and thorough environmental scanning in order to select the appropriate business stratagem to be implemented in achieving the precise aspects of the corporate mission

    The Effect of Smart Government on Governance in Covid-19 Era

    The research work looked at the relationship between various dimensions of smart government which are citizen centricity, efficiency, effectiveness and the dimensions of smart governance being strategic dimension, networking and collaboration between institutions. This study made use of a quantitative analytical cross-sectional design. The study made use of the Stakeholder theory. It also made use of the purposive, convenience and simple random sampling technique. A survey was designed for the respondents which was inclusive of one hundred and thirty (130) postgraduate students of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun state and the Statistical package for social sciences was used in running the analysis. According to the findings of this study, smart government could be regarded a foundation for establishing governance by utilizing advanced information and technology for good governance, which is characterized by multiple interrelationships between individuals, government and other decision makers. The sample size and analyses focused majorly on the Postgraduate students of Covenant University. From the findings, the students assert that the governments use of ICT platforms has been able to enhance the resilience of the government and organisations as they have been able to develop a  means to cope, adapt and adjust to this global change. The efficient and effective use of ICT, allowed for networking and collaborative interaction between government and other state and the governments and organizations. This implies that governments ability to take smart and strategic actions in the face of unforeseen and unpredictable challenges through the use of ICT has proven a candid means for the government to efficiently and effectively run any nation state. The findings focus on examining the effect of smart government on governance. The paper is significant in giving insightful directives on the realities of running government in a continuous dynamic environment which factors are unpredictable and gives a guide on how government should be run in the face of untold challenges

    COVID-19 Pandemic and Antecedents for Digital Transformation in the Workplace: A Conceptual Framework

    The emergence of coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused us to reconsider our everyday lives around the world. While the ability to work from home is an advantage to many workers, other businesses lack the foundation of the technological infrastructure to give the capacity of “business as usual” without some compromises. The goal of this paper is to develop a conceptual framework on digital transformations antecedents of global workplaces and organizations post-pandemic outbreak. The study emphasized that the most effective transformations point to four antecedents; smart capital allocation for digital initiatives, engagement of appropriate digital tools, talent recruitment, and brand permission. The study concluded that the global pandemic has created a whole new experience for businesses and organizations around the world. Therefore, business executives cannot sit on their laurels any longer and they cannot put off a digital transformation organizational focus. Henceforth, taking the right decisions today would help ensure that businesses are better placed after the pandemic is over

    Barriers to Technological and non-Technological Innovation Activities in Malaysia

    The complication of innovation activities has resulted to a massive increase in the adoption of external networks by Small, Medium to Large (SML) firms. The main objective of this study is to investigate the barriers to technological and non-technological innovation activities in SML firms both in the service and manufacturing sectors in Malaysia. It was reported that the gathering and distribution of data on innovation activities of a nation is unquantifiable to the prosperity and development of that nation. However, National Innovation Survey (NIS) in Malaysia dates back to the initial survey carried out in 1994 to gather data on innovation activities among SML firms in areas such as inventions, product developments, process creation, development and organizational change. The research philosophy adopted was multiple regression analysis executed on the collected interview data. Aside that, T-tests was also used to compare the means of variables between the randomly chosen domestic and foreign companies. In this research, the data was analyzed using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) version 18. Descriptive data analysis were used to explain the findings and were presented in the forms of tables and figures to describe the amount of innovation activities and the barriers to innovation activities in both the manufacturing and services sectors.     Emperical Perspectives of Social Media and International Entrepreneurship in Nigeria

    Entrepreneurs all over seek ways of introducing their products to international markets, but international business environment pose a lot of opportunities and threats to foreign entrants. The cultural, political and technological environment has a lot to do in entrepreneurial success in global markets. The study examined the effect of social media on international entrepreneurship in Nigeria. The general objective of the study is to critically determine the extent to which social media have contributed to the international venturing of entrepreneurs in Nigeria. One hundred questionnaires were administered to collect primary data that treated appropriate research questions and four hypotheses were tested accordingly. The results of this study indicated that technological advancement has significant impact on business transactions of international entrepreneurs which could be traceable to the fact that most small business entrepreneurs are technological inclined to transact businesses. The study found that so far the proper understanding of the usage of social media tools has offered more to the entrepreneurial venture decision making. Also the social media tool has been proven to enhance business dealings which also have to do with entrepreneurial success in the international markets. The study recommends that since technological products provide ample benefits for international entrepreneurs, organizations should endeavour to provide indispensable technologies that supports international transactions
