A finite electric-field approach to evaluate the vertex correction for the screened Coulomb interaction in the quasiparticle self-consistent GW method
We apply the quasiparticle self-consistent GW method (QSGW) to slab models of
ionic materials, LiF, KF, NaCl, MgO, and CaO, under electric field. Then we
obtain the optical dielectric constants E(Slab) from the differences of the
slopes of the electrostatic potential in the bulk and vacuum regions.
Calculated E(Slab) show very good agreements with experiments. For example, we
have E(Slab)=2.91 for MgO, in agreement with the experimental value
E(Experiment)=2.96. This is in contrast to E(RPA)=2.37, which is calculated in
the random-phase approximation for the bulk MgO in QSGW. After we explain the
difference between the quasiparticle-based perturbation theory and the Greens
function based perturbation theory, we interpret the large difference
E(Slab)-E(RPA)=2.91-2.37 as the contribution from the vertex correction of the
proper polarization which determines the screened Coulomb interaction W. Our
result encourages the theoretical development of self-consistent G0W
approximation along the line of QSGW self-consistency, as was performed by
Shishkin, Marsman and Kresse [Phys. Rev. Lett. 99, 246403(2007)].Comment: 2 figure
Role of the limbus in femoral-head deformation in developmental dislocation of the hip: findings of two-directional hip arthrography.
Two-directional arthrographic findings made during conservative treatment of developmental dislocation of the hip were compared with the femoral-head configurations and radiological results obtained from long-term follow-up examinations in this retrospective study. Sixty hips were followed until at least age 14. Arthrography was carried out according to Terazawa's method. The shape of the superior, anterior, and posterior limbus was evaluated based on a modified Fujii's classification. The femoral-head configuration was classified into 4 groups, and the radiological results were evaluated using Severin's classification at the final observation. There was a statistically significant relationship between the shape of the anterior limbus, the number of portions of deformed limbus (superior, anterior, posterior), and the femoral-head configuration. Also, a statistically significant relationship between the shape of the limbus and Severin's classification was observed. These results suggest that the deformed limbus seems to play an important role in triggering femoral-head deformities, possibly via mechanical compression, and negatively affects development of the hip joint.</p
A Study of Life History on the Professional Development of Teaching: Focusing on Teaching in Physical Education of A Junior High School Teacher B
This study aims to clarify what factors made and transformed ‘teaching style’ in physical education of Junior High School Teacher B through interpreting a life history of Teacher B. The results are summarized as following points. 1. The ‘teaching style’ of Teacher B on physical education in the I period (1989.4-1997.3) was made by factors of ‘belief as a teacher’ and ‘reflection on his teaching based on chances of professional development and resources left by predecessor and books’. 2. The ‘teaching style’ of Teacher B in the III period (2005.4-2017.3) was transformed by factors of ‘meeting with Mr. E and Mr. F belonging to C Attached Junior High School Q’ and ‘learning of the theory of physical education’.本研究は,JSPS科研費JP15K12632の助成を受けたものです

The study of Collaborative Learning in Physical Education with the Use of Tablet Devices : With a special focus on team conferences in volleyball
The present study aims to find out how the students made use of game records in their tablet devices when reflecting on their games and what was going on in their discussion. By analyzing their utterances in their team conferences, it is revealed that the numbers and ratios of the returns of the ball recorded in their tablet devices were utilized as the viewpoints of their discussion and they facilitate their discussion. It is also thought that team conferences give the students the opportunity to learn collaboratively and that the utterances which accept their teammates and the ones which ask their teammates questions enrich collaborative learning
Scoliosis in Patients with Severe Cerebral Palsy: Three Different Courses in Adolescents
Patients with cerebral palsy (CP) frequently present with scoliosis; however, the pattern of curve progression is difficult to predict. We aimed to clarify the natural course of the progression of scoliosis and to identify scoliosis predictors. This was a retrospective, single-center, observational study. Total of 92 CP patients from Asahikawasou Ryouiku Iryou Center in Okayama, Japan were retrospectively analyzed. Cobb angle, presence of hip dislocation and pelvic obliquity, and Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) were investigated. Severe CP was defined as GMFCS level IV or V. The mean observation period was 10.7 years. Thirtyfour severe CP patients presented with scoliosis and were divided into 3 groups based on their clinical courses: severe, moderate and mild. The mean Cobb angles at the final follow-up were 129°, 53°, and 13° in the severe, moderate, and mild groups, respectively. The average progressions from 18 to 25 years were 2.7°/year, 0.7°/year, and 0.1°/year in the severe, moderate, and mild curve groups, respectively. We observed the natural course of scoliosis and identified 3 courses based on the Cobb angle at 15 and 18 years of age. This method of classification may help clinicians predict the patients’ disease progression
ALS clinically presenting with PMA
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) primarily affects upper and lower motor neurons. Phosphorylated TAR DNA-binding protein of 43 kDa (TDP-43) inclusion bodies are reportedly a pathological hallmark of sporadic ALS. Here, we present an atypical case of sporadic ALS that progressed very slowly, persisted for 19 years, and clinically appeared to only affect the lower motor neurons; however, upper motor neuron degeneration was detected on autopsy. Furthermore, no inclusion bodies positive for phosphorylated TDP-43, ubiquitin, fused in sarcoma, or SOD1 were detected in the CNS. We performed exome-sequencing data analysis but found no genetic disorders. This was therefore an unusual case of lower motor neuron-predominant ALS without TDP-43 pathology or known gene-disease associations. We also reviewed autopsied ALS cases that progressed slowly and had no phosphorylated TDP-43 or ubiquitin positive inclusions and present the clinicopathological features of such cases. Based on these results, there may be a sporadic ALS subgroup that progresses slowly and shows 76 no accumulation of phosphorylated TDP-43
Occurrence of silk stitch abscess after surgery in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma
Objectives: To elucidate the predisposing factors and clinical characteristics related to the occurrence of stitch
abscess after surgery in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
Patients
and
Methods: The subjects were 232 patients who underwent excision and/or reconstruction and/or neck
dissection for oral SCC using silk sutures for high ligation of the blood vessels. Detection rates and characteristics of patients with stitch abscess were retrospectively evaluated by comparing patients with and without stitch
abscesses after surgery diagnosed by ultrasonography and findings of various modalities in 232 patients. Several
echogenic dots with subtle acoustic shadows in a hypoechoic mass were identified as the characteristic findings of
stitch abscess on US. The patient groups with and without stitch abscess were compared with respect to various
factors to identify those that predispose to the occurrence of stitch abscess. The factors analyzed included patients'
sex and age, chemotherapy treatment, radiotherapy treatment, the presence of a history of allergy, and blood test
results.
Results: A significant correlation was found between the occurrence of stitch abscess and age, liver function
abnormalities on blood tests, and the presence of a history of allergy. Multiple stitch abscesses clearly tended to
occur more often than single ones in patients with stitch abscess.
Conclusions: The occurrence of stitch abscesses was related to age, liver dysfunction, and/or the presence of allergies. When diagnosing stitch abscess, the occurrence of multiple stitch abscesses is important
