Pneumatic power is transmitted through air bearing
A more efficient method for supplying high pressure air to an air bearing and pneumatic equipment mounted on it has been developed. The system uses a conventional air bearing and an air-supported sphere with a central passage. High pressure air is channeled through it into the pneumatic equipment on the sphere
Specificity of aequorin luminescence to calcium
The presence of Pb(++), Co(++), Cu(++), and Cd(++), each of which possesses a certain luminescence-triggering activity of aequorin, potentially interferes with the specificity of the aequorin luminescence response to Ca(++). Interference by the above cations can be eliminated, without influencing the sensitivity of the luminescence of aequorin to Ca(++), by adding 1 mM of sodium diethyldithiocarbamate
Broadband power amplifier tube: Klystron tube 5K70SK-WBT and step tuner VA-1470S
The design concept, the fabrication, and the acceptance testing of a wide band Klystron tube and remotely controlled step tuner for channel selection are discussed. The equipment was developed for the modification of an existing 20 KW Power Amplifier System which was provided to the contractor as GFE. The replacement Klystron covers a total frequency range of 2025 to 2120 MHz and is tuneable to six (6) each channel with a band width of 22 MHz or greater per channel. A 5 MHz overlap is provided between channels. Channels are selected at the control panel located in the front of the Klystron magnet or from one of three remote control stations connected in parallel with the step tuner. Included in this final report are the results of acceptance tests conducted at the vendor's plant and of the integrated system tests
Convergence of the Poincare Constant
The Poincare constant R(Y) of a random variable Y relates the L2 norm of a
function g and its derivative g'. Since R(Y) - Var(Y) is positive, with
equality if and only if Y is normal, it can be seen as a distance from the
normal distribution. In this paper we establish a best possible rate of
convergence of this distance in the Central Limit Theorem. Furthermore, we show
that R(Y) is finite for discrete mixtures of normals, allowing us to add rates
to the proof of the Central Limit Theorem in the sense of relative entropy.Comment: 11 page
Critical review of the trailing edge condition in steady and unsteady flow. Blade flutter in compressors and fans: Numerical simulation of the aerodynamic loading
Existing interpretations of the trailing edge condition, addressing both theoretical and experimental works in steady, as well as unsteady flows are critically reviewed. The work of Kutta and Joukowski on the trailing edge condition in steady flow is reviewed. It is shown that for most practical airfoils and blades (as in the case of most turbomachine blades), this condition is violated due to rounded trailing edges and high frequency effects, the flow dynamics in the trailing edge region being dominated by viscous forces; therefore, any meaningful modelling must include viscous effects. The question of to what extent the trailing edge condition affects acoustic radiation from the edge is raised; it is found that violation of the trailing edge condition leads to significant sound diffraction at the tailing edge, which is related to the problem of noise generation. Finally, various trailing edge conditions in unsteady flow are discussed, with emphasis on high reduced frequencies

Welcome and Introductory Remarks
It\u27s a pleasure to welcome you to the ARPA/AFML Review of Progress in Quantitative NDE. I\u27m Don Thompson, Director of the Structural Materials Department at the Rockwell International Science Center, and have had the privilege of serving as the Program Manager for the Program in Quantitative NDE which is under discussion for the next three days here. I\u27d like to introduce Prof. Herbert H. Johnson, Director of the Materials Science Center at Cornell University. and our host for the next three days. Herb, I\u27m sure that Dr. Peter Cannon, Vice President of the Science Center, Mrs. Diane Harris, who has served as our conference coordinator, myself, and a 11 my colleagues join to thank you and your staff-- Mr. Noel Desch, Mrs. Sharon Wells, Ms . Kris Molt, and many others--for all the cooperation you have given us. Special mention should also be given to Prof. J. A. Krumhansl for taking the initiative in suggesting that this meeting be held at Cornell. We appreciate the many courtesies and hospitality that you at Cornell have shown us
Helicity supersymmetry of dyons
The 'dyon' system of D'Hoker and Vinet consisting of a spin 1/2 particle with
anomalous gyromagnetic ratio 4 in the combined field of a Dirac monopole plus a
Coulomb plus a suitable potential (which arises in the long-range limit
of a self-dual monopole) is studied following Biedenharn's approach to the
Dirac-Coulomb problem: the explicit solution is obtained using the
`Biedenharn-Temple operator', , and the extra two-fold degeneracy is
explained by the subtle supersymmetry generated by the 'Dyon Helicity' or
generalized `Biedenharn-Johnson-Lippmann' operator . The new SUSY
anticommutes with the chiral SUSY discussed previously.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figure
